"Sect master, our sect is in danger!" The elder shouted the moment he barged in.
Five hundred thousand Lion Fang troops are on their way to the sect, they should be arriving very soon.
Most of our disciples are escaping from the sect, please do something!" The elder said bowing.
The sect leader and ancestor were too stunned to speak because they couldn't understand a damn thing.
What did he mean by the Lion Fang troops were on their way coming to attack them, didn't those cowards run away? Or were they planning to attack them whiles their main force was gone?
That was pretty smart of them, but it didn't make sense.
"Where's your dignity as an elder? Don't tell me, you are scared of a bunch of mortal soldiers. Our main force will arrive soon and wipe them out.
Tell the disciples to calm down, anybody who leaves would be punished by the sect codes" The sect leader said clearly displeased with the elder.
"Sect leader, our forces have been wiped out, we don't have any remaining disciples or elders who can stand against an entire army even if they are motals!" The elder cried out loud.
"What?!!"
"Impossible!"
The sect leader and ancestor uttered loudly at the same time clearly with disbelief written on their face.
The enemy barely had an army of 50,000 so how could their elites be defeated.
This sounded like a fairy tale to them.
"Do you know what happens to members of the sect that spread false rumors?" The ancestor said threatenly as he released his aura suffocating the elder.
Cracks began to form underneath the ground the elder was kneeling on.
But another elder barged in with a grim look, but coughed out blood after stepping into the hall.
He was just a sky lord so how could he take the pressure.
The ancestor retrieved his aura and asked coldly, "Speak"
"My lord, our forces have arrived" The elder reported whiles gritting his teeth to deal with the pain.
"Why are you the one reporting this? Where are the Grand elders?" The sect leader asked with a frown. He didn't like the chain of events happening, it gave him a sense of forbidding he couldn't explain.
"My lord, you should see for yourself" the elder replied.
He didn't dare to report the state of the survivors.
The ancestor and sect master looked at each other with shock on their faces.
They could see the state of their troops using their spiritual roots senses.
The two men rushed outside to see a group of decimated troops, this people looked nothing like the magnificent elites that left a few hours ago.
Some were crying in agony because of their injuries. Some had amputated legs, others had their hands amputated and others were suffering from internal injuries as a result of being trampled on by the cavalry.
The scene was quite unsightly, two bald men with burnt robes approached the the ancestor and sect leader before bowing.
The bulk bald man couldn't help but cough out blood after kneeling down.
They were the right and left grand elders of the Moonshade Sect, the first grand elders to lead their sect to their doom and also the first elders to taste such a devastating defeat whiles leading such a large number of elites.
The sect leader stumbled back and almost fell on the ground after seeing the number of survivors that had returned.
They weren't even up to a thousand men, and most of them would probably never be able to cultivate again.
They had sent 300,000 elite forces of the sect, it wasn't an understatement to say that ninty-five percent of the population of the entire sect had been part of the campaign.
But now, they were all gone.
"What happened? Where are the rest of our disciples and elders?" The ancestor asked shakingly.
The grand elders explained everything from the start of their attack to their defeat without leaving anything.
The ancestor and sect master bodies felt numb, they couldn't believe they had fallen for such a simple trap. If not for their greed, then this wouldn't have happened.
Now the legacy of their sect was in ruins and they masterminded it theirselves with their own hands, what was even worse was that they couldn't call for help from the alliance.
"Ancestor, what do we do!?" The sect leader asked. He might be the sect leader but the ancestor was the strongest.
"I say we take out our weapons and face the Lion Fang troops, with the ancestor on our side, we should be able to avenge our falling comrades" The left grand elder said as he picked up his large long sword, but immediately fell on his knees as he got up. He was too weak.
"Ancestor, the grand general is probably an Immortal King as well, but I can't confirm it because his aura was untraceable" The right grand elder gave the ancestor a reminder.
"So he killed more than a hundred thousand disciples with a single move and still did not leak out any aura" The ancestor said sorrowfully.
Killing more than a hundred thousand disciples and elders in one move was what made his heart bleed.
These were lives they had spent countless resources to raise, but with a swing of a sword, they were all gone.
"My lord, why don't we send a message to the Alliance Of Sects for help..." The right grand elder said but was cut off by the ancestor.
"It's useless, we've doomed ourselves, the alliance have no excuse or reason to defend us
If they do, a war would break out between them and the United Imperials.
Even the alliance can't save us now"
Sighhhhh, the ancestor sighed.
"This is all happening because of my greed, I'll shoulder the responsibility for my decisions.
I'm going to resolve this myself" The ancestor said before walking into the ancestral hall, he seemed to have aged a lot.
The people outside were left stunned, "No this won't do, send a message for help from the alliance!" The sect leader ordered.
He was not going to sit idle and wait for the enemy, he had to do something.
