"What's the status of Mayor Carolyn Goodman, rookie?"
"She's still in recovery, but she's going in and out of a coma, sir."
"Oh, that's not good."
The tall, white-tailed dragon said, walking in the door to Room 95. He walks over to Carolyn as he puts his gloves on. He looks around her body, checking for any bleeding in the stab wound, stitched up. The rookie assistant, short with a witch hat on, follows him.
"That's weird. The recovery surgeons put an artificial heart in her and her husband, Oscar." He said, "Oscar healed a lot faster around December last year; what's up with her?"
"I'm assuming it's more than her artificial heart, sir." The rookie said.
"How so?"
"The surgeons found a blue stone preventing her from going in and out of a coma. Since she's a wrath demon, a sacred stone for Angels, they take longer to heal than angels."
"Good observation." The dragon doctor said. The stone in Carolyn's chest glows a light blue color. The doctors look at her chest glowing. The rookie touches Carolyn's hand, feeling a pulse.
Ta tum… ta tum…
She feels a pulse. The dragon hovers over Carolyn hearing her breathe. She breathes softly as she starts moving her fingers.
"Could it be?" The rookie whispered to the dragon.
"Well, I'll be damned."
Carolyn opens her eyes, the bright lights in the room blind her. She shields her eyes with her hands, squinting. Her vision started to clear up as she looked around the room. She looks at the doctors.
"What's… going on?..." Carolyn said, softly. She slowly lifts herself up, the pain strikes her whole body, she groans in pain. The dragon doctor helps her lay back down.
"Well Mayor Goodman, you had quite a recovery after your recovery surgery." The rookie said.
"How long was this?" She asks.
"It's been a year since your surgery, It's March 2022."
"March?!"
"Yes ma'am. March."
"That is how long I died for? A year and one month?!"
"Died and recovered. You died on February 5th of 2021."
Carolyn breathes in despair. "Oh my god… Where's Oscar?!"
"Oscar recovered in December. So he's recovering just fine at home."
"That's good." Carolyn slowly sits up again from her bed, she shifts herself to the edge of the bed, getting herself up. She looks in the mirror, she sees streaks of white highlights in her hair. Her light blonde hair got a bit darker. She slicks her hair back.
"That's new, when did I get this?" Carolyn asks herself.
"I think it's probably from the angel stone that healed you or your hair made highlights to say you were dead for a while."
Carolyn turns to look at the doctors. "Should I ask how many lives do I have left?"
"Well, it's unlimited revivals but since you are close to the age that most humans pass away at an average. This is your last."
Carolyn stays silent, looking back towards the mirror. The room surrounds her with darkness, she starts to have flashbacks of the fight with Michele. Her slamming Carolyn in different areas broke her bones in her body, causing her to bleed. Carolyn sweats and breathes heavily as she puts her hand on her head. Michele's voice surrounds the dark room.
"Count your fucking days, Carolyn…"
A spirit lookalike Michele appears behind Carolyn. Carolyn looks up at the mirror, shocked as her eyes widened in fear. Michele's laughs as she grows a few inches taller, leaning on Carolyn's body.
"Well… Guess who came back to life~ WHY?!"
"I…"
Michele grabs Carolyn's cheeks, squeezing them.
"You know I killed you for a reason, right?~ For you to not mess up my plans and you still continue to pop back up and ruin it for me." Michele said. "Oh wait, I just remembered, you wanted to leave my mafia and I taught you a lesson. Oh silly me!~ Now, I have two reasons why I killed you."
Michele lets go of Carolyn's cheeks, caressing her leg and goes in her pockets and grabs her dagger. Carolyn tries not to blush. Michele slowly brings the dagger up to Carolyn's neck.
"I have some advice for you. If you really want to keep your life? I suggest you either come back to my mafia, shut your mouth and do as I say, or don't try to dismantle my mafia, okay? I have people that know who you are and will not hesitate to track you down. My suggestion is to be a good girl and come back.~"
Michele smirks and disappears in the darkness, Carolyn's body starts to get heavier as she breathes rapidly.
"No… No, I won't come back to your mafia… I won-" Carolyn drops to the floor, rapidly breathing again. The doctors run up to her, the darkness disappears from the room. The rookie and the white dragon sit next to each other, trying to calm her down. She breaks into tears.
"No… no…" Carolyn fainted. The rookie's eyes widened
"Mayor Goodman!" The rookie panicked. The white dragon doctor feels Carolyn's pulse. A white man with a white suit and gray suspenders, glasses shining in the light. The man's halo glows like the sun. The doctor turns around and looks at the man, shocked.
"O-Oscar?!"
Oscar, picks up Carolyn gently off the floor.
"I'll take care of it from here." Oscar said, disappearing in thin air. The doctor and the rookie look at each other.
"If anyone asks, just say that she's alive. Okay?"
"Okay."
The room remains silent.
