*Souta*
I ran to class ahead of the others. When I arrived, I found Sehun already seated. For some reason he was writing something down even though there was nothing on the blackboard to note down.
Thankfully he was the only one around, giving me a chance to talk to him in private.
"Sehun," I said once I sat down in my seat.
He continued writing.
"Come on," I said, tears threatening to spill out. "Why won't you respond to me?"
He put down his pencil and sighed. "Did you get rid of the boy?" he asked, his eyes fixed on his paper.
"Huh?" I asked, tilting my head at him.
"Purpura. That boy you saved. Did you manage to push him away?" His eyes were cold and calculating.
'Why did he want to get rid of Purpura? I know he said said he was dangerous before, but how exactly?'
I touched my neck and recalled how he had almost choked me to death when we had first met. Yet, wasn't that from pure instinct? He didn't appear to be a bad guy. Purpura... something had happened to him, but what? Who had hurt him? Why did he seem so fearful that night?
"Is Purpura really upsetting the balance of this town?" I asked, lowering my eyes. "Also, even if that is the case, is that really a bad thing? Rocking the boat isn't always bad."
His closed his eyes and shook his head. "Listen, Sou. Be wary with that boy. Like I told you before, he's dangerous."
"Don't worry, he's gone," I said, opening up my notebook. "I chased him off soon after you left."
"Really?" he said, his tone nearly returning to its usual cheerful self. Though his frown quickly returned. "Wait, you did it because you thought I was jealous, didn't you?"
I locked eyes with him and smiled. "Well, were you?"
He averted his eyes. "M-maybe," he said as a rosy blue danced against his pale cheeks.
I raised my notebook in front of my face. "I- I see..."
He leaned in and moved the notebook away. "You know, you're so cute when you blush."
My heart beat deeply in my chest as I stared at his eyes and lips. My face was burning up. I wanted to kiss him so badly... D-did he want to kiss me too?
"Hey!" We look to the front of the class and see Sekin walking over to us. "What are you two up to?"
Sehun continued to smile. "Oh, nothing. What about you? How is Rena doing?"
His cousin gave us a worried smile. "So far she's doing fine but I'm not sure how the surgery will go." His eyes had dark lines.
"She'll be fine," I said, giving him a hopeful smile. "I'll pray for her quick recovery."
He laughed.
"What? You don't believe in the gods?" I asked.
"Of course not, Father says that's all make believe. That's not why I'm laughing, though. It's nice to see you support her, especially considering how much she dislikes you."
"Well, if I can be friends with Ava then I can certainly be friends with Rena too," I said, nodding.
Sehun and Sekin snickered.
"W-what?" I asked as my face heated up once again.
"You just admitted to being friends with her. You usually deny it," Sehun said, covering his smile with his hands.
"I-I do?" I asked.
"What was that?" Ava said, glaring at me as she walked down into the room with Kai behind her.
I gulped. "I-I was telling him how I'm friends with you despite how much you dislike me."
She covered her mouth. "Ahhh! So you do consider us friends after all!"
I puffed my cheeks. "W-what's that supposed to mean?"
"I mean, you deny it all the time."
"See," the Opal cousins said in unison.
"I do not... alright, maybe I do." I laughed nervously.
She sighed. "You should be more honest."
"I told him that the other day," Sehun said, chuckling. I watched as his eyes sparkled at the sight of Ava, prompting me to turn away.
Sehun...does he like Ava? He's always agreeing with her.
She seems to like him back too. If it weren't for Sayuri and me then the two probably would be a couple by now...
*Purpura*
I had left Ava's place early and hitched a ride (a.k.a. snuck into a truck) northward to Ame City, the capital of the Astorian Empire. I snuck around the city, making sure not to be spotted by the police.
"I got to find a way inside that lab," I whispered to myself as I sat down on the concrete floor of one of the city's many alleys. I needed to find it and destroy it as soon as possible. My stomach threatened to give my location away. I had to quiet it somehow.
"Hey!" a voice called out.
I reached into my pants pocket and pulled out a knife. With a spin I had my knife against the neck of a terrified girl dressed in all purple.
"A-are you alright?" she asked, holding her hands up.
Her clothes, from her white hat to her shirt, skirt, and shoes all seemed to be made out of silk or another expensive thread. Silk... my captor wore it a lot too.
I pull my knife away and gasped. Her eyes, they were the same as mine, Amethyst. Perhaps it was due to my years in captivity, but I had never seen someone else with Amethyst eyes. Though I had seen plenty of Citrine and Opal eyes. The former all being members of Souta's family.
"Sorry about that. You frightened me," I said, averting my eyes.
She took in a deep breath.
"Well you certainly returned the favor there," she said, chuckling She reached into one of the bags on her person and pulled out a freshly baked piece of bread. "Here, take this to quell that uneasy stomach of yours."
My face warmed up, though, I still snatched the bread from his long, slim fingers. I took a quick bite from the bread. Before I knew it, the whole thing was gone.
"Ahh, that's good stuff!" I said, patting my stomach. "Thanks, uh..."
The girl smiled. "I'm Vio-"
"Lady Amethyst," a man yelled out. He was dressed in a police uniform.
I turned tail and ran out of there. I leaped over several garbage cans and jumped against the walls. With the slight energy I had from last night's meal, I warped to the top of the tallest building in all of Ame City.
I took a deep breath and looked at the enormous city below. "That was close."
"Was it?" said an eerie voice.
I turned around and saw a white haired man wearing a black lab coat emerge from the tower. "It's nice of you to return to us, Mora," he said, grinning. I stepped away from him as I stared at those Opal eyes of his.
H-how had he found me?
My hands curled into fists. "Don't call me that!"
The man chuckled as he resisted my power. Even with the bread, my powers were too weak to deter the guy.
"Why not, son?" he asked, holding a hand at me.
"I'm not your son! You killed my real parents and took me in... you used me to try to create one of the prophesied chosen!"
He nodded. "That I did... but are you sure that those you called your parents were your 'real' parents?"
I let go of the rail. "W-what...do you mean?"
The man grinned as his opal eyes shined. "Oh, nothing. Just note this, you're our tool, nothing more and nothing less."
I levitated myself into the air. "I am free now. I don't have to listen to you! So fuck off!"
"Free?" The man chuckled. "You're are nowhere close to being free, Mora. Though frankly, no one is." He took out a tiny white remote and pressed a white button.
Suddenly, a jolt of electricity ran up spine and through my brain... The air in my lungs vanished and my legs gave in.
"Rest now, my dear Mora," the man said as he caught me. "You'll be back home real soon."
