*Sayuri*
I watched as the angel flew around the house like a vulture waiting for its prey to fall unconscious.
"The gods," I muttered. "Sehun must be hiding something that is upsetting them greatly for them to send their servants here. Something that concerns the well being of the world or their own."
Sou, Kai, and Ava's mouths were agape.
"Is Sehun practicing sinister magic or something like that?" Sou asked.
"Maybe it's necromancy," Kai suggested. He looked down. "That's a power meant for the gods and a certain clan."
"A certain clan?" I asked.
He avoided my eyes. "It's best for you not to know." He glanced up at the angel nervously. "We should heed Sehun's words and leave this place."
"You can leave him to me," Sekin said, running our way.
"Weren't you with my sister?" Kai asked, concerned.
"Don't worry, she's fine. Yayoi accompanied her back home." He tightened his hands into fists. "My dad made this mess according to uncle Saku so I think that it falls to me to help fix it."
"Promise me that you'll keep Sehun safe as well as yourself," Sou said, his eyes serious.
Sekin's face turned slightly red. He closed his eyes before flashing him a confident smile. "Don't worry, I will. Now go!"
*Sehun*
I sighed. Now that they were gone, it was time to chase that angel away. I ran my hand through my face. I can't believe I was about to do this. It was my duty to protect the balance of this world, not defend someone whose very existence warps it.
Still, it wasn't Purpura's fault. That being said, I still wished that he had decided to go to someplace far away from here.
"Sehun!" I overheard my cousin yell as he banged on the door.
Why was he here?
I walked over to the door but stopped myself short of opening it. What if Uncle sent him here to lure Purpura out? No, Sekin would never do something like that. Plus, it wasn't like he had a good relationship with his dad anyway. Then again, maybe that's the thing that he used to convince him to help. If he succeeds, he would make his dad proud.
"Sehun, are you alright?" Sekin asked, knocking again.
I sighed and opened the door. My cousin greeted me with a concerned face.
"Are you aware of what's going on?" I asked, in an unintentionally combative tone.
"Sort of. I ran into uncle Saku on the way here, and he briefed me on a few details. He was actually the one who sent me here to check up on you."
So it was Dad and not Uncle...
Sekin closed the door behind him as the angel suddenly swooted down, cracking the door. He gulped as he stared at the sword sticking out of the door.
"Let's run," he said.
I nodded.
The two of us rushed for the stairs.
"Hey, what's with all the commotion?" my little sister asked as she glanced at us.
"Come, it's not safe here," I said, grabbing a hold of her arm.
"Huh? Wait, what's going on here?" she asked as I dragged her upstairs. Her eyes widened as she noticed the impaled door. "Uh, did one of you do that?"
"If we did, it wouldn't be sticking out like that!" I snapped.
Sekin sighed and picked her up into his arms. "Sorry, cuz, but we must quicken our pace."
"Who's here?" she asked, trembling.
"An angel, but not a friendly one."
"An angel? What's an angel doing here?" she asked.
"Stop asking so many questions, alright?" I asked.
My little sister's eyes grew wide. She gulped. "O-okay, big bro."
I sighed. I really had to learn how to control my temper better...
Suddenly, the lights began to flicker on and off.
"Why hasn't it broken in through the windows?" my sister asked. She cupped her mouth. 'Sorry,' she mouthed.
"That's because I covered this place with talismans to keep away unwanted spirits. Though, they're most effective against demons, not angels. This one appears to be the servant of a god of this realm," I responded, hurrying it up.
"You say that as if it's a good thing," Sekin said, giving me an odd look.
"I heard that there are angels much stronger the one trying to break into this house, beings from a distant dimension."
"I thought all angels were extra dimensional," Shika said.
"Sort of. The angel we see hear is from a special pocket in our universe. A part of the realm invisible to mortal eyes. In fact, few people except for those which special attributes or closely tied to them can see the creature trying to break in here."
Shika tilted her head. "Then what are they seeing."
I laughed. She certainly never stopped asking questions, did she?
"They are likely seeing a freak wind knocking on the door, trying to blow away the door."
Shika shivered. "Creepy."
Sekin nodded. "I guess it is. For once, seeing the supernatural is better than not knowing what it is."
I glanced at my cousin. "Are you the type who thinks ignorance is bliss?"
He shrugged. "Well, not all the time, but sometimes it's better to not know stuff."
I could see what he was meant, but was hoping to maintain blinders really the proper way to live? Then there are those who If we get even a hint of something not being as is, they want to find out what it is, even if it's forbidden to look into it.
Most people I felt were a mix of the two, curious to find out that which is kept out of reach, but they've found out the truth, they wish they never had.
Suddenly, the door burst open.
"You two head up! I'll handle it."
Sekin gripped Shika tightly. "Let's go, princess!" he said as he ran toward Purpura's room. Perhaps it would've been best if I had placed him in the basement. However, knowing his history, the idea of being underground would likely have horrified him.
I glanced at the angel as it flew over to me.
"You're the priest of these lands, are you not?" it asked.
"Yes, I am Sehun Heyoon Jun Opal," I responded, holding out my hand. A white sword which shimmered in many colors in the light appeared to me.
"Then you should know that boy is a danger," the being said. "Now, if you do then step aside and allow me to fulfill my task, or else even you will face the wrath of heaven."
"I do not wish to upset the gods, but I can't allow you to destroy that boy either. He's connected to the priestess of the Amethyst."
"He is, but he is also an abomination. A being who isn't alive, nor dead. For that reason, he must be taken care of. His power is too great for him to control."
I hit my chest with my left fist in a salute. "I promise my friends and I will watch over him. So, please allow him to live."
The angel closed its many eyes. "That is the will of the gods, not mine, but I shall let them know your request. "
He remained still for awhile before opening all of its eyes in an instant.
"I have heard back from the Great Sages of Old. They wish for me to test your resolve and that of your colleagues in battle. If you manage to defeat me, Hakuril, then the boy will be spared."
I narrowed my eyes at it and jumped back.
I gasped for air as a punch struck me in the gut. He moved so quickly that his fist didn't even seem to move at all!
I levitated myself off of the ground and raised my hand at it to lift it from where it stood, but my powers didn't seem to be working against it.
The angel took a single step toward me. "Foolish mortal. Your powers are too weak to work on us higher beings. If you hope to win, then you best do so physically."
I gritted my teeth and crossed my arms over my chest. I smiled as I blocked this one.
"You're getting faster. I was starting to think that your previous performance was all you amounted to."
I smirked. "I sort of underestimated your abilities. My apologies."
The angel's left foot arched in my direction. I raised my left arm, blocking it, but nearly stumbled over from the sheer force.
I gasped as the angel grabbed a hold of the collar of my shirt and threw me behind him.
I screamed out in pain as I passed through the stone wall.
"Sehun!"
"Are you my next challenge?" the angel asked.
The dust of the shattered wall slowly cleared to reveal Sekin standing in the angel's way.
"Run, Se...kin."
My cousin dashed toward the angel and blocked its punches. Unlike me, he didn't stumble at all. However, he wasn't as fast as me, taking several blows to the gut. Watching him get hit and reacting like nothing was still incredible. The guy was like a living shield!
Hakuril said that he was going to test me and my colleagues, then that meant that he didn't care how many of us he fought.
I clenched my sword tightly and charged upstairs. "We will reign victorious!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. It was in part an attempt to motivate myself and Sekin.
Hakuril turned to the side and caught my cousin's fist in his right hand while holding out his left toward me.
My knees bent as I slashed horizontally at his legs. I spat out blood as I flew into the air. He had gotten a direct hit against my chin.
"Damn, so fast," I said as I used my powers to come to a halt, and just in time too as I came within an inch of crashing into the shattered wall.
I threw my sword at him and used my gravity control to move it up and down and side to side. To the unversed, it might've looked more like I had psychic powers.
The angel reached his left hand out and grasped the sword as its tip came within a few centimeters of his neck.
I thrust my hand forward, pushing the sword into its neck.
The angel pulled the sword out and threw it into the living room below.
"Not bad, mortals," he said before kicking a struggling Sekin aside.
My cousin grimaced as he clenched his side. His once pristine white shirt was now dyed deep crimson.
"Sekin!" I yelled. I gasped as a fist struck me in the chest.
"It's over, mortals," Hakuril said as my back made contact with the broken wall yet again.
