Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Live

*Souta*

[Still in the past]

I opened my eyes and saw Sehun sleeping in the seat. Sitting up from the bed, I noticed that I wasn't in my room but in a hospital.

"Sou, you're awake now?" Sehun said, opening his eyes slightly. He stood up from his seat and smiled. "You had me worried back there. You've been out since yesterday. How are you feeling?"

I recalled what happened when I was last conscious. My face turned bright red as I recalled.

Damn, why did my heart beat around the Opal cousins?

"Are you feeling well?" he asked again, this time leaning in closely. Now that he was close to me I could make out the various colorful parts around his iris.

"Sou?" he repeated.

I backed away from him. "Uh..."

He smiled as he also moved away. "You're blushing?"

I shook my head. "I'm not!"

The guy snickered cutely. "My cousin was right about you." He turned around. "There's something about you that attracts people toward you like flies to honey."

A wide smile appeared on my face as soon as he had left.

"Sou," father said, opening the door. He hugged me tightly. "Your friend told us the news! You're feeling good enough to go home?"

Grinning, I nodded. "I am." I rolled my shoulders, finally allowing them to get some good movement after being in a short coma like state. "Actually, I feel good enough to help you till the land."

He patted my shoulders. "That's my boy, strong like his old man."

I chuckled. "Yeah..."

##

I wiped the sweat off of my brow as we nearly finished tilling the land using pickaxes, we were too poor to afford oxen or machinery like some of the other farmers. Well, at least tilling helped me stay in shape.

"Son," Pa said as he slowed down. "Ava told me what happened."

I slammed the ground so hard that rock and dirt went flying into the air.

She had no right to tell anyone what happened, no one but me should've told them.

"Why did those kids call you a homo?" he asked, frowning. "Are you one of those people?"

I let go of my pickaxe but it was stuck to the ground so it remained still. "I'm...not!"

Father's frown vanished. He gave me a hearty laugh. "Of course not, no child of mine would be a homo. Your mother and I raised you right."

I forced a smile. "Yeah." I walked away.

"So, when are you going to get a girlfriend?" my father called out.

My legs stopped moving. "I...I'm too young!"

Father chuckled. "Are you? Your friend, Sekin has a girlfriend."

I winced upon hearing his name. "I... I don't got anyone that I like."

"How about Ava?"

I turned around and shook my head vehemently. "No. If I ever get a girlfriend it won't be her!"

Pa pointed to my cheeks. "Then why are you red?"

I pouted and started back on my way home. "I'm going to go wash up and go to sleep."

"What about dinner?" Pa asked.

I waved my hand. "I'll eat later. I'm not feeling well."

"Oh, okay. Rest well, Souta."

"Ahh, that felt good," I said, emerging from the shower. "Nothing beats a good shower." I jumped face up into my bed and hugged my pillow. "Ahh, I missed you.!

I took in a deep breath and put a hand against my chest. My hands tightened into fists.

'These feelings...where do they originate from?'

Why couldn't I have been born normal? Why did I need to develop feelings toward guys?

If only I could have liked Sayuri who asked me out months ago. She was a nice and cute girl. I knew that one couldn't force feelings, but it wasn't just with her. I couldn't feel any attraction to any of the girls. I was...

'No. I'm not! Yayoi and the others were wrong! I'm not a homo! I... can't be...' Tears lined my face so I sunk my face into the pillow.

'Maybe...maybe it would be better if I died...'

I pressed my face tightly against the pillow but the feeling was unsettling so I let go of it and took a gasp of air. I walked over to my window and opened it, taking in the fresh air.

'Should I jump?'

I turned to look over at the electrical socket. 'Or maybe electrocution wo...'

Knocking snapped me out of my thoughts. It came from my door. I wiped away my tears and tried to regain my steady voice before opening the door.

"Ava," I said, once I opened the door completely. I narrowed my eyes.

'It's all her fault.'

I closed the door but she put her hand in the way. "Is something wrong, your eyes are red." Her face was serious. "I know your secret. You're just like me. You aren't straight, are you?"

I glared at her. "I'm not, I'm normal!"

She put her hand against my mouth and forced herself inside.

"Shhh, they'll hear you. I won't tell your parents." She looked down. "I just thought that you might want someone to support you. Having someone to support you is nice. Unlike you, I was lucky to have my parents accept me for who I am."

She walked over to my bed and hugged my cinnamon roll shaped pillow. "You still got this?" She laughed. "I remember I won this at the fair years ago. I decided to give it to you since it's your favorite food."

I looked away. "Stop smiling like an idiot."

She chuckled and stood up. "You're so adorable, cinnamon roll-kun."

'Not that stupid nickname.'

I snatched my pillow back from her. "Don't call me that."

"Sou, is somethin' wrong?" Mama asked, entering the room. "We heard screaming. Are you two fightin'?"

"I heard somethin' about being 'normal'," Pa said.

Ava smiled nervously. "Uh." Her fingers suddenly curled around mine. "He was just telling me that he wishes we were a normal couple, right?"

My face became bright red. "Wah?"

Pa chuckled. "Ah, so you are dating. Sou, why didn't you say anything earlier when I asked?" He pressed his lips. "I mean..."

Ava laughed. "That's fine. I told Sou to deny us dating." She leaned in closely. "Right, Cinna-kun?" Her lips were very close that we were almost kissing.

{Present]

I jumped from the ground. 'Oh gods, why did I remember that?'

Purpura covered his face, obviously hiding a chuckle. "So, did you kiss?"

I touched my lips. "That stupid Ava..." I looked down. "She stole my first kiss..."

Purpura shrugged. He leaped to his feet. "A kiss isn't a big deal if there are no true feelings on either side." He grabbed my arm and leaned in closely.

My eyes widened as I felt his lips touch mine. They were surprisingly tender, like supple grapes.

I felt my eyes closing, but stopped myself, pushing him away instead. "Why did you do that?"

He touched his lips and grinned. It was smug and... strangely sexy. "See. It means nothing. It's just a touching of lips and mild exchange of saliva, well at least it was to me." He chuckled.

I curled my hands into fists and threw twin punches at him but he blocked them with the side of his arms. The way he moved, it was almost like that of an expert fighter.

His smile changed into a sly one. "Come on, try harder if you want to take back that kiss."

I let out a roar and tackled him to the ground. I banged my fists against his chest. "You know I can't! Damn you, my first kiss with a guy was supposed to be with Sehun! Ava and you are the worst!"

"Uh," Purpura said, pointing up.

I turned around and saw Sehun.

'Uh oh...'
