As Mori talked with the strange duo he finally took a moment of respite to get a good look at who he was talking to. The angry tub of lard being restrained by the woman had baggy robes, most likely a bad attempt to hide his size. He was a shorter, stout man with a scraggly black beard and a permanent scowl on his face, most likely due to his subtle receding hairline that must of been a sore spot for him. He had reddish tan skin that really did remind Mori of that of a potbelly pig but he would hold his tongue. Especially after his previous outburst that had practically sent the man into a blind rage. The woman on the other hand was taller than the man though still slightly shorter than himself. She wore more tight fitting robes that defined her figure but we're still modest with a few simple adornments and bejeweled pins in her hair that was loosely tied in a bun. Her skin was a pale pink opal that outlined her piercing orange eyes that matches her equally fury hair whose lose strands almost seemed to dance with flames as they flickered in the wind. Seeing her beginning to grow impatient he decided to respond with a small bow as to not demean himself but to simply apologize." My apologies miss..." He stopped for a moment seeming to hint at the fact they never did properly introduce themselves.
"Ah right I am Lu Ming and this is my compatriot Xao Bulu." Her response was short and curt as if to tell Mori to get on with his explanation.
With a small sigh he continued." So Miss Ming as I was saying I was under the impression that the Forrest was a free space.what do you mean this is a restricted area. For my knowledge the Forrest is a place for all who follow the law of the jungle. What gives you the right to simply lay claim to it?" He was reserved in his speech trying to keep some peace as he tried to make sense of the current situation. Still thanking his lucky stars he had left his spatial pouch back at his cave or else he would be in a world of trouble right now. He was quite tense trying to play off the current situation as nothing more than a simple misunderstanding "as you can see I am simply living out my days in peace amongst the Forrest, I honestly did not even think anyone would claim something like that. With due respect it personally Feels a bit presumptuous but I digress, allow us to remain civil." His face held a soft smile as though he was still thankful that the situation was remaining pleasant which the Lady, Lu seemed to eat up his explanation with cautious distrust.
"Well Mister, um what was your name again?" She spoke as if she had simply forgotten but they both know this was not the case and she had only now asked.
" You Can Simply call me Mori" the real translations of his name were long and arduous so he simply referred to himself in the common tounge like most immortals decided to do and had extended the gesture for ease of conversation. Though this would not be knowledge Lu Ming would know of.
"As I was saying Mister Mori this ironoak Forrest is owned by our sect as a training and harvesting grounds. We were granted the exclusive rights by the local Lord and as such we own this place." Her tone was informal just as the man had spoken to her although that was also strange. She found it strange that someone with such a weak or even close to non-existent aura would refer to her casually but be unphased by her cultivation base.' His boldness is imense there must be more to this story than he was letting on.' She thought as she began sizing him up with even more speculation than before. " While normally we would let something so small like this go with nothing more than a warning or a fine. These are more strenuous circumstances." She paused for a moment to try and decern any reaction but she was about 1000 years to early to read anything from his expression." So my apologies in advance but we will need to take you in for some questioning." Under the surface while he did expect this his mind began firing at maximum capacity on how to get out of this situation
'Okay it's not completely hopeless I just need to think...' he paused as he weighed his options and how to work around the system.' At the moment I am nothing more than a suspicious person with little to no cultivation aura but that's even more questionable considering the circumstances. Found in a Forrest crawling with beasts and still unharmed, hmmmmm.' After weighing his options he guessed revealing his necklace may be vital.' It's not that powerful considering I had to make it as a mortal so it will probably look useful but not highly valuable, at the very least they won't take it. That explains why I'm not dead but not how I ended up here. He continued his thoughts as he replied to the lady a few moments after she actually told him that he would need to be questioned." And why should I trust you are not just trying to lure me away to kill me?" He responded still trying to buy time to figure out how to work through this situation with his head still attached to his shoulders. His face remained calm and nutural while his mind was in a panic, 'The guy I killed must of been someone important so I must assume they will use a truth pill to ensure I really am not responsible. My responses must be carfuly formulated otherwise I won't be able to speak the lie." He strained against the fog in his own mind to pull out any details about truth pills he could but it was pitiful at best. 'Only affect those in their realm of cultivation or lower and will force the consumer to reply truthfully to any questions asked to them. The effect lasts anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. They can be dispelled by specific constitutions or by a nullifying pill.' As he panicked about what to do Lu Ming responded to his obviously redundant question." If we wanted to kill you you would already be dead."
While he accepted her response he also knew he could most likely survive their initial attacks but he wasn't sure he could still get away. Without finishing his other artifacts there would be no way for him to fight back or even properly run away, at best it would just make the duo angry."I suppose you are correct Lady Ming then I will not cause trouble, as long as we can sort this misunderstanding peacefully I'll be satisfied." His response left the other man grumbling something about "we'll see about that" and "dam lowborn" which was most likely a jab at his shitty talent and body but the man was not incorrect. The lady showed a small smile as Mori had agreed to her demands. While she found the man suspicious, he seemed amicable enough to meet with them, while his body looked like garbage in her eyes trained to recognize talent she did still felt a strong but faint qi signature around him that made her weary. ' at the very least we will return to the sect with something, he'll be okay as long as he had nothing to do with this matter.' It plagued her slightly to just let go of her masters son's death just like that but it was the way of the world. ' I just hope he can handle the loss' with that the group began the flight back to the sect the fat man being forced to carry Mori while they flew, much to the man's displeasure and the woman's amusement.
