Chapter 12 - Detour (3)

They flew deftly upon the broadswords that soared though the air as a hot knife through butter. The air drifted past as Mori's hair fluttered through the wind it's harsh cold being deflected around them as if they were surrounded by an invisible bubble that allowed them to smoothly break through the sound barrier without worry for their own safety. To most this experience would feel like magic especially if you were just a mortal who only dreamed of soaring through the sky but behind the eyes of an old beast such as himself it was nothing more than a party trick to distract his mind from the danger he was walking into.

His thoughts raced faster than the blade beneath his feet as he contemplated his situation, grateful for the awkward tension that made a palpable silence between the group. The quiet roused the thoughts in his muffled mind as he sat like a fisherman among clouds of dreams. Ever since he fell to the ground even his own mind has been difficult to use. Tens of thousands of years worth of experience traped behind most so thick he couldn't even distinguish one hand from the other. The only respite was the small pond in the center of his mind where he sat. It was all he was able to use as his own. He was stuck fishing through the fog and dragging whatever traces of experience he could to drop thim into the pond. The shards of memories swam like fish trapped in the pond as he went back to grab another. As if trying to empty the ocean with a bucket it was impossible for him at the moment but he had to work with what he could." It took me months just to figure out how to replace my meridian how am I supposed to figure out how to get out of this situation?" This was the inner sea, unlike the inner plane immortals used to store their tressures this place was the domain of the mind. It would usually only appear after the mind construction phase and be impossible to have as a mortal, but Mori was not the usual 'mortal' so his sea was sealed from him leaving him stuck blindly searching for his own ideas that were trapped just out of reach. His mind no longer felt like his own just as his body felt like an empty shell left behind after his fall.

"We flew too close to the sun, death is the price of failure when you try to climb to the heavens." His eyes drifted upwards as his meagar collection of thoughts fluttered before his eyes. " I chose to walk this path and I lost everything to it... No matter there's nothing to gain by stopping now,To just live out my life as a mortal would just be accepting defeat." His thoughts grew firm as the very mist that clouded his mind dimmed in a single moment of clarity. "The only way out is through, rip and tear until it is done, pain will not stop me nor will loss or hate, I will become the only thing left. I will become the worst mistake, the sky let me live and spared my my life, but what's life worth when everything was taken. It should have been me but heaven spited all my efforts to save her, so nothing will save heavens gate from my rage." He breathed in the crisp air of the stratosphere and let the feeling building inside his chest fill every fiber of his being, his very intent and will bound itself to his bones. A pounding drum of fire beat in his chest as magma filled his veins.

So subtly he whispered below his breath."keep fighting always, the flames will rise and quench me in their warmth.sharpest sword of pure silver,my intent worthless yet profound, I seek justice and may the blood set me right as rain." His words wrapped themselves around his bones as he felt as if he had just made a profound realization in his very core. His body had not changed it was still a mortal hunk of garbage but for some reason... It just felt more solid now, like his bones suddenly gained weight but his body still felt the same. The world around him seemed to become ever so more vibrant and his ideas churned quicker in his measley bucket worth of thoughts.he was going to drag this walking corpse from deaths door to the top of the world if he had too. He will reforge it peice by peice to be suited to climb back into the cradle of stars above. The sky caressed his face as he finally relaxed and began to focus on how to keep his story straight. 'im just a wanderer, alright,I'm recently crippled and simply trying to live my life, I mean that parts the truth but how do I lie about killing that dude.' his index finger tapped against his arm like a jackhammer trying to consider his involvement from all angles. The beast's sentience will only be a minor distraction he is still going to ask about my involvement mearly if for show. The problem is if they use truth syrum I'ma be found right out. The tapping began faster and faster till it suddenly stopped as a horrid look briefly flashed across his face as he finally figured out a plan.' well this is going to suck, hope my husk doesn't wind up a complete idiot. His brain finally drew forth a method perfect for fooling any lie detector, the only problem, he won't remember the truth either. He was planing on sealing his mind and letting a artifact sport take control of the body's functions, basically he was going to turn off his brain and hope that the robot he's leaving his body with remembers to turn his brain back on when they're done.looking down at his necklace, he slowly unclasped the back to have a good view of its face."you'll come in handy." He thought as he did his best to sneekely begin modifying his necklace.
