Chapter 8 - people

gonna say what I want right now."I furiously looked at him." You don't get to decide whether I'm worth it or not. Let my work decide for me. You don't even know me and you are already judging me, what kind of a boss are you?"I asked breathing so fast.

At this moment I had risked everything, I had risked losing the job. I knew I wasn't supposed to speak to the boss like that but he deserved it. He was a bully and I had so much resentment for bullies and mean people.

He stares at me still playing with the lighter."Your work will be supervised by me, I will be the judge and let me warn you, I am very harsh when it comes to judgment." he calmly but coldly declared.

I was speechless. How fast did we get to this? I was not expecting or hoping for this." Fine." my mouth spoke but my brain was not in it. I wanted to say no and leave but instead, I just said fine. What was wrong with me? It was him, he was influencing my pride to act up.

What was wrong with him? The least he could have done was acknowledge what I said. It was official, I hated my boss but I hated him more when I remembered he was the father of my child.

I had lost any hope of ever knowing anything about her but then I saw her, in the conference room. Whether she was being bullied or not was hard to comprehend.

It came to my realisation that the day she bumped into me, she was here for an interview but knowing that didn't give me the satisfaction I hoped I would have.

People are always after me so I've always had my guard up and with her, I felt the need to be careful. She didn't give much of a choice, with her there were just these rare coincidences. And that lavender scent of hers I had been thinking about lately, I was sure I had been familiar with it years back, I just couldn't point out when. That too made me want to be
