Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Nathan looked at Isabelle with a sympathetic gaze.

"Nathan, is it just because I can't give them a child? They betrayed me. My heart is shattered; I'm disappointed and hurt."

Nathan let Isabelle pour out grievances. He felt sorry for his boss, who was so broken.

'You will regret this, for causing Miss Isabelle so much pain. You chose to discard a diamond and pick up a pebble,' Nathan thought himself as he gazed sympathetically at Isabelle, who was still crying.

"Why don't you go home and calm your mind, Miss?" Nathan suggested to Isabelle, who nodded in agreement.

Isabelle grabbed her bag and prepared to leave.

Before she opened the door, she turned and looked in Nathan's direction.

"Nathan, can you handle the company for a few days? I need a vacation to clear my mind."

"Sure, go on vacation, and I'll take care of the office matters."

"Where were you, Mom?" Zac asked his mother anxiously.

"I went to see Isabelle," she replied wearily.

"WHAT?!" Zac exclaimed.

"What if Isabelle files for divorce for real? We'll struggle again like before," his mother said despondently.

"Mother, let Zac get a divorce from Isabelle. Besides, I'm pregnant with Zac's child. Isn't that what you've always wanted?" Jenny said casually, stroking her still-flat stomach.

"I do want a child from Zac, but I don't want to lose everything he can provide me." Zac's mother blamed Jenny for what had happened.

"Mother, why are you blaming me? We love each other. Even before Zac met Isabelle, he knew me first."

"SILENCE!" Zac's mother snapped, already infuriated.

Jenny fell silent, hearing Zac's mother outburst. After a long period of silence, they spoke again.

"Zac..."

"I'm sorry, Jenny, I still love my wife," Zac interrupted Jenny.

A tear fell from Jenny's cheek.

"Zac, you've promised to marry me. I'm also carrying your child. I don't care; you have to marry me as soon as possible," Jenny demanded.

"But..."

"No 'buts'. Otherwise, I'll terminate the pregnancy."

"Don't do that, my love. We'll get married after I settle things with Isabelle."

"I want to get married as soon as possible, Zac. My belly is getting bigger."

"That's right, Zac. Her belly will get bigger. How about you two have a secret wedding and keep it hidden?" Zac's mother suggested after observing them for a while.

'Darn it, Isabelle this, Isabelle that. It's all because of Isabelle. I hate her. I'll make Zac hate her too, and then Zac will be mine,' Jenny thought, smiling devioudly.

Silence.

"Zac, I have an idea. How about you visit Isabelle and apologize to her? It's almost time for her to leave the office."

"Yes, mother, that's right. I'll go now," Zac said, excusing himself to his mother. However, his hand was held by Jenny, who looked at him.

"What...?"

'I won't let you meet Isabelle, no matter what,' Jenny thought with a sly grin.

"Zac, my stomach hurts," Jenny lied.

"What should we do? Should we go to the hospital?" Zac panicked.

"Yes, Jenny, let's go to the hospital. I don't want anything to happen to our child."

"No need, Zac. I just need some rest. You can just take me to my apartment."

"But Jenny, I..."

"Okay then, I'll go on my own if you don't want to take me home, but if something happens to this child, don't blame me," Jenny said irritably.

"Alright, I'll take you to your apartment," Zac said wearily.

Zac, feeling anxious about Jenny's condition, quickly escorted to his car, helping her get in gently. As he started the car, his mind raced with worries about both Jenny and the mounting complications in his life.

During the drive, Jenny maintained her facade of discomfort, occasionally grimacing in "pain". Zac kept stealing glances at her, occasionally reacing out to hold her hand for reassurance.

Finally, they arrived at Jenny's apartment building. Zac helped her out of the car and walked her to her front door. He rang the doorbell and waited anxiously, still torn between the two women in his life.

The door swung open, revealing a puzzled look on Jenny's face as she pretended to be in discomfort. "Zac, can you stay with me for a while? My stomach still hurts," she said with a convincing expression.

Zac sighed and nodded, entering her apartment. He sat beside Jenny on the couch, his mind in turmoil.

As they sat there, Jenny continued to feign pain, occasionally clutching her stomach and moan softly. Zac's concern grew, and he wondered how he had gotten himself into this complicated situation.

Meanwhile, Isabelle was on her way home, trying to calm her troubled heart. She needed time to think and heal from the emotional wounds inflicted by her husband's betrayal. She decided to take a vacation, hoping that a change of scenery would help her find clarity and peace.

Back in Jenny's apartment, the evening slowly descended, casting a shadow over Zac and Jenny's uncertain future. Zac's loyalty was divided, and Jenny's manipulative tactics were pushing him further into a tangled web of deceit.

The love triangle's complexities deepened as Zac tried to navigate the conflicting emotions within him. The decisions he made in the coming days would have far-reaching consequences, affecting not only his own life but also the lives of those he cared about.
