Chapter 2 - Oh, but yes. They are!

Vasili stood gobsmacked, this was an impossible scene playing out in front of him.

The boy licked his fangs and smiled before saying, "Sorry for the quick initiation. It's just that we have company coming over." He laughed when he saw the look on Vasili's face, "Haha, no worries, it is just a few Mutts." Then the kid pulled out his phone and called someone.

Placing it on speaker, the kid took his jacket off and began to prepare for a fight when a voice came from the phone, "Young Master!? What happened? I heard you were attacked?"

Vasili watched as the kid rolled his sleeves up, then decided it might be best to grab his bat. Picking up the weapon that sat next to his recliner, he listened as the boy spoke over the man, "Hey, old man, listen. I am at 24 Thayer Street. Send some backup, please, I have a few Mutts sniffing their way here as we speak."

Vasili heard the voice on the phone grow cold, "Mutts? Mutts dare attack House Dragos!?"

The boy sighed in exasperation, "Clearly. They are trying to kill me, so can you get over the insult and actually HELP ME!?"

The façade of anger left as soon as it showed, calmness returning to the conversation as the boy ended by saying, "They are close, gotta' go!" and then he hung up.

The boy offered his hand with a quick smile, "The name's Elias, nice to meet you! If we live through this, I promise to buy you a round."

Before Vasili could respond, an inconceivably loud bang reverberated at the door.

He looked over, only to see what he'd describe as a rend in the door. The shredded metal almost seemed like a promise of what would soon happen to his flesh. Then a menacing 'thing' began to speak in a snarling voice, "We know you're in there, little Prince. Come on out, or we'll rip this place to shreds."

Elias shrugged, "Sorry about the door, I'll get it replaced." Then they braced as another 5-point gash appeared in the metal. Only, this time Vasili could see a glowing yellow eye peer into his living room.

Elias waved to the Werewolves and taunted, "Bad dog, no ripping doors!"

There was a grunt of frustration outside the door, and then everything went silent. Elias frowned and then moved to the side while warning Vasili, "You might want to stand back."

They stood motionless for a few moments, anticipating combat erupting when a ball of fur and meat burst through the door. The monster knocked over the side table and bounced off the couch before Elias started ripping into him.

The sounds were horrifying, haunting Vasili's memories with vicious snarls and painful yelps from the "Mutt" as it fought for its life. Meanwhile, Vasili turned his attention back to the entrance of his apartment, where another wolf was prowling as it stepped inside.

Vasili shook off the sounds of tearing flesh happening behind him and focused on the 'thing' in front of him. It looked like the damn Wolf Man, with fur, claws, and beady yellow eyes peering into his soul. The 'thing' stalked forward, it was anxious about the outcome of this fight as well, but eventually, it pounced.

Vasili swung his bat as hard as he could, hearing bones break in its hand as the Werewolf caught it mid-swing. The claws dug into the baseball bat's surface, and the monster ripped it out of his hands, throwing it against the wall. Then, before he could react, the other hand swiped, knocking him backward and into his beloved chair.

Vasili felt the searing pain blossoming in his chest as he tried to right himself. The monster began to stalk towards the fight between Elias and the Mutt, clearly having finished with Vasili. He looked down at his chest, expecting to see his 'insides' turned into 'outsides.'

Alas, it wasn't his time to die yet, as Vasili's hand ran up and down his chest in disbelief at the minor "scratches" left. The tension of the situation fled his body, but when he realized that the kid was about to be double-teamed by these Monsters, he leaped to his feet.

Vasili stalked behind the Werewolf, waiting until it was about to intervene. He watched as the Monster reared its hand back into a swiping motion, and then he grabbed it, his own 'fingernails' digging deeply into the beast's flesh.

The creature turned, shocked by what was happening. A deep and rumbling voice emerged as it spoke, 'I cut you, how are you-' The monster stopped in its tracks as its throat was ripped out in a spray of viscera and blood. The hand that did it, glistened in the man-made light.

Elias stood up from the corpses, blood coating his body in a slick mess, as he asked, "Hey, I know we just met, but could I have some more of your blood?"

Vasili realized there was a reduction in the number of monsters in the room, but it wasn't zero.

He put his hand out between them, mulling it over, when he heard footsteps approaching from the apartment's hallway.

A dozen men in black combat equipment showed up at the door, looking in at the blood and gore strewn about the room. Elias wildly gestured with his arms, "Well, NOW you've all finally decided to join us. Ain't that sweet."

Elias shook his head as he waved the barrels of the guns to the floor. Then he turned and gestured as he maneuvered over the scrap metal door, "Come on, buddy, let's get you a proper introduction to the supernatural world."

The men spread out as Elias stepped into them, parting like the Black Sea. Vasili noticed their subservience and realized his new 'buddy' was actually a 'Young Master' as he was addressed on the phone.

As Vasili exited his apartment, he stepped over the broken door, and the men's eyes focused on him. A few eyes even began to glow red as he realized that these men were some sort of Vampire S.W.A.T. team.

Elias pulled out his phone and threw his jacket over his shoulder as he spoke to Vasili, "It looks like war is erupting throughout the city, damn." He shook his head, "We'll have to go see my Father then."

Vasili watched the squad leader walk up to Elias and speak, "My Prince, our mission is to return you to the estate-" He was cut off by Elias overriding him, "No. You are to report to my Father's aides about where to strike next. That is my command. Now, we must be leaving."

Elias pulled Vasili down the hallway before the Vampires could get new orders that override his own. They'd have to hurry if they weren't going to be closely protected all night.
