'Extra rewards? If only this was a deathmatch. Unfortunately... ' I retracted my blade and replaced it into it's sheath. Meanwhile, I could see the look in Curry's eyes. Those eyes carried disdain that was unable to be hid. How would it not, when this guy was defeated by someone a lot younger than him, by at least five years no less.
I, however, paid him no heed. If he wanted to go at it again, I would gladly accept his challenge. It would actually be a good way to test out this new skill Domination, that I just got.
I walked slowly out of the circle and straight to the counter. Wherever I passed, people would give way. It appeared I had actually left an impression with my strength: that I was at the very least strong enough to be6an adventurer.
Sherby followed right behind me, with his party following behind him, and that cloaked kid right behind them.
"So?" I asked the attendant at the counter.
"So what?" She replied with an indifferent gaze. "You defeated the weakest adventurer. You clearly took advantage of the rules. I may be obliged to grant you an adventurer license now, but I can also refuse this request."
"What? I did what you asked. I mean, everyone saw that, right?" I was angry at this lady's reply. It was as though she was just toying with me, using me to get to watch a free fight. "What more do you want from me?"
She put out her hand and opened her palm. After waiting a second without me replying, she beckoned with said hand and said, "Come now, don't make me wait. You know what I want, do you not?"
'Ha... ' I laughed inwardly. At this moment, it had finally dawned on me: the reason why she was explaining that she was only obliged to register me as an adventurer.
I had hyped up Curry's morale and caused him to fight me -only so I could ensure my spot, no other reason; certainly not to get cheers and surprised gasps.
Anyway, to hype him up, I had given a very interesting offer. I had told Curry that if he were to win - which he didn't - I would give him two silver coins. Now, that was certainly worth a lot. Perhaps if the lady knew I had so much on me, she wouldn't have even asked me to go pick a fight. Alas, it was too late now.
This offer of mine clearly had an unnatural allure towards these adventurers. Moreover, two silver coins would mean they could slack off on their duties for quite a long time.
This attendant clearly had plans for this money as soon as I mentioned it. I looked around and noticed I was the center of attention. Everyone wanted to know if I would give the money to her. Money in itself was a very dangerous thing. It could cause those with the purest of hearts to become the vilest of devils so I wasn't willing to take any chances.
I grit my teeth and handed over a single coin I had taken out of my robe onto the delicate, young palm outstretched in front of me. "Happy now?" I had asked immediately after.
"No, I'm not. Where's the rest?"
"The r... Just kill me, okay? Drive a blade through my heart, isn't that what you want? Because this can't even be considered an extortion anymore!" I was so tiled up I lost my cool for a bit. And no one who saw me this way would even think of me as a twelve year old kid.
"Do you want in or not? If you do, you put that extra coin in my hand right this moment. Or else, you can forget about it." She was picking her nose with her finger as she said this, the palm of her right hand still stretched out in front of me.
I grudgingly took out the last silver coin and put into in her hand as I mumbled curses at her and myself - at myself for being stupid, at her for 5aking advantage of me.
"Oh, why who's a good boy..." She reached out to pat me on the head.
"Don't... Just get me registered, alright?"
"Hee hee, as you command, sire."
I looked around at everyone currently in the guild building. Sherby and his gang avoided my gaze, which I found odd but didn't comment on. Curry was looking towards me with a mocking smile. He even mouthed some words I think I would not have appreciated had I heard them. Fortunately for him, I wasn't very good at reading lips.
I followed the attendant through a door behind the counter. Inside the room had no windows, but somehow was still illuminated. Even after looking around, I couldn't find the reason.
"Don't try too hard. It'll only ruin your pretty boy look." She said. "Come on, place your hand here." She had brought out a strange or thingy.
I placed my hand on the orb and it emitted a faint light before the light slowly faded. After this, I felt no different from before.
"What does that do?" I asked.
"Trade secret. Here, put your hand on this one." She kept the former orb and brought out another one. I placed my hand on it and the same strange phenomenon occured. This time, however, after removing my hand, it began to emit a searing, burning sensation.
"Ah" I cried. "What the hell! What did you do to me?" On my wrist was a tattoo of a bull with a ring connected to both it's nostrils that had been burnt onto it. The surface of this part of my skin was still a tad reddish, including the tattoo.
"Well, congratulations. You are now an adventurer. Take that signature anywhere in the world, and you will be recognized officially as one.
