Chapter 1 - Jasher

She is heavier than she looks, which is unexpected, so when her jeans catches a branch, I groan in frustration.

Her head lolls sideways and as I walk around to unhook the jeans, her bloodshot eyes meet mine.

" They'll find you, " she croaks with the little energy left in her.

I grab her bloody hands and start dragging her across the grass.

" Who will? "

" My parents. M-my friends. Everyone........And you'll be punished ".

"Really? " I drag her under a thin tree. " Well, I'm gonna have to disagree. You know why? "

I walk to her front. " No one ever suspects people like me ".

My lips break into a smile, then a menacing giggle and she recoils. Her body shakes and she turns away from me.

I watch her slide through the grass, her fingers grasping branches stuck to the ground, desperately trying to get away.

I'm no longer amused, instead it's just boring and sad now. It was better when she still had the energy to fight back, I hate it when they cower. It's time I finish her off.

Looking around, I find a perfect stone the size of a football. It was something I had to lift up with two hands, but one fatal blow and she's a goner.

She looks back at me and her eyes bulge out, sighting the huge stone.

" No... No! Help!! Help!! "

I crackle, stalking her slowly as she slides through the ground.

" Help!! Please! "

" Shut the hell up "

" Help!!! " I step on her feet, stopping her pathetic movement. " Help me, please! "

Her piercing scream is the last thing that escapes her lips before the stone crashes heavily against her skull.

Her bloody head snaps forward, burying her face unto the blade-like grass. Blood sprays my face.

The forest is quiet again, save for the owls hooting off a distance. A coppery smell fills my nostrils, along with the wood-like smell of the forest and I bask in the glory of another successful hunt.

Setting down my school bag beside the body, I retrieve a pair of scissors, sniping out a piece of her hair and placing it into a ziplock bag, then I write her name on the bag with a marker.

Nicole.

Next, I take out my journal, skimming through the list of crossed off names till I reach one that hasn't been crossed off yet, Nicole Walter.

I cross it off, wash away the blood on the sone with the little water in my bottle and leave the forest in unhurried strides.

No need to cover up the scene, I'm sure the wild animals lurking around are pretty hungry.
