Chapter 9 - Let's Share A Bed

"I'm going to take away your sorrows, Ceci. I promise." Miguel said as he carried her in a bridal style and took her to the bedroom where he laid her on the bed.

The latter's vision became blurry as she cried her eyes out. Miguel lay beside her and removed the strand of hair that fell on her face. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead and her face was soaked in tears.

"Did he call you again?" Miguel asked, knowing fully well that her ex-boyfriend was the cause of her pain.

Cecilia shook her head and gave her phone to him, showing him the text that was sent to her.

"He's in Spain?" Miguel asked in disbelief.

Cecilia nodded weakly as she didn't expect her ex-boyfriend to be in Spain all of a sudden without giving her the green light. It came as a really big shock to her.

"Do you know his reasons for coming to Spain?"

"I don't know but I know for sure he needs money from me because Anna is pregnant," Cecilia said as she rested her head on the thick pillow, her heart clenched at the thought of everything she had been through in the hands of her ex-boyfriend.

"Anna? My Anna?" Miguel gave her a questioning look as confusion was etched on his face.

"Anna is my ex-best friend's name. They both betrayed me." She cried, sobbing as she used her palm to cover her face in embarrassment.

Miguel nodded in understanding. He couldn't relate to Cecilia's pain because it hadn't happened to him before but he felt sorry for her.

"You wanna go shopping? Maybe it can relieve you from the stress." He suggested but she refused.

"I just want you to help me take my pain away. I'm tired of being in pain." Cecilia cried as she leaned closer to him and rested her head on his firm chest, startling Miguel as he didn't expect her sudden act.

He patted her back, reassuring her that he was going to help her take her sorrows away but how? He didn't want to repeat the same mistake he made that led to their one-night stand.

No! Miguel shook his head in disapproval and terminated all the naughty thoughts he had in his head but with her leaning on him and inhaling his scent, he couldn't help it.

"I'm going to the bathroom, Ceci," Miguel said as an excuse to flee as he tried to stand up but she held his waist tightly.

"Don't leave me." She begged.

Miguel rolled his eyes as he took a pillow and helped himself by placing it in between his thighs. "I'm here."

A knock was heard on the door, informing them that dinner had been served. Miguel instructed that theirs would be served in their room since he didn't want to let his family members see Cecilia in this situation.

Cecilia rested her head on the pillow that was placed on Miguel's thighs but the latter was uncomfortable as he tried to adjust but Cecilia's grip on him was firm.

"I'm feeling sleepy, Miguel and I'm starving at the same time." She informed him, her voice barely above a whisper.

Miguel gently patted her silky brown hair. "Dinner will be served here, don't worry. I'll make sure you get enough rest while I sleep on the couch."

"Let's share a bed. Don't sleep on the couch."

Miguel was stunned by her words. Since when did she become this comfortable with him? Still, he wasn't going to succumb to whatever she wanted.

"You can have the bed all to yourself. I'm good." Miguel tried convincing her but she paid a deaf ear to everything he said as he raised her head gazing into his dark eyes as if searching for something.

"What's wrong with you?" Miguel asked startled. What has come over her? He asked himself, her every move was unannounced. Before he could ask her any more questions, she sealed her lips with his, making his eyes widen in shock.

He pushed her away, not wanting to have any controversies with her. Immediately, Cecilia fell on the bed and dozed off.

"Ceci?!" He gently slapped her cheeks as she grumbled in her sleepy state making him sigh in relief.

Was this what he was going to face? The latter regretted ever meeting her and offering her a helping hand at the beach. With a sigh, he removed the pillow on his thigh and placed it under her head, leaving the room after taking a glance at her sleeping face.

He strode to the dining room and found a servant holding a tray of food and heading to his room.

"You can take it back, she's already asleep," Miguel instructed and the servant nodded in response.

His father saw him approaching his seat without Cecilia by his side making a frown settle on his face. "Where's your wife?"

"She's already asleep," Miguel responded, his voice cold and blunt. As he took his seat with the servant serving his food.

Camilla chuckled. "She's asleep this early. It's like we need to get prepared to welcome another member of the family." She said, smiling broadly from ear to ear.

Julia threw a death glare at her and the old man wasn't exempted.

"Stop assuming things, Camilla. The girl is stressed and you don't expect them to have a child this early. Can't you think?" Julia retorted.

"Well, we all want them to have a child soon so it's not bad to assume things." Camilla scoffed, as he helped Little Gracia out in opening her plate.

"Enough, let's eat." The old man ordered and his words were followed with silence. He turned to Miguel and instructed him to get some snacks for Cecilia in case she was awake and hungry at night.

Miguel nodded in response.

Marco on the other hand tightened his fist on the fork he was holding as he kept glancing at the empty seat that was opposite him.
