"Miguel, who's she?" Julia asked, her voice barely audible.
They were already seated at the dining hall as the woman whispered to her son but before the latter could give his mother an answer, his gaze caught up with the old man's glares.
Cecelia was finding it difficult to eat since everyone's gaze was on her. The meatball she caught with her fork fell back on the table due to her shaky hand. Her actions didn't escape the old man's eyes but he remained silent.
Miguel was impatient but he had to hide it. He stole glances at his father if only he knew what was going on in that old man's mind. He noticed how uneasy Cecilia was and how she failed to touch her food. He slightly rubbed her thigh under the table, his act was quite sudden as Cecilia was startled but he gently pinched her to keep her gaze locked on the food which she did obediently.
Cecilia started eating, but slowly.
"Miss, you have barely touched your food." Marco broke the silence, his gaze fixed on Cecilia.
Now that Marco had mentioned it, all eyes were fixed on her making her knees tremble in embarrassment.
Miguel cursed his brother inwardly and threw shades at him. "How will she be able to eat when you keep staring at her like a zombie?" Miguel retorted.
"I was just curious," Marco said before retreating.
Cecilia was glad Miguel had stood up for her because she didn't know how to respond to Marco's question.
Although she was served rich meals, she didn't have the appetite to eat as all her appetite was lost immediately after she stepped foot in the house of the Gonzalez.
To avoid any more questions, she forced herself to eat, carefully not to rush her food.
"So, tell me, my dear, how did you end up being Miguel's wife?"
Da-dun!!! Da-dun!!!
Cecilia almost choked on her food, her heartbeat pounding against her ears. Miguel was also surprised at his father's questions as they caught them unawares.
Marco and the others tried not to involve themselves in Miguel's business but they couldn't help but wait for Cecilia's reply as they were curious too. Miguel just showed up with an unknown woman and claimed that she was his wife. That was too sudden and they were glad that the old man brought the question up.
But Cecilia had a hard time assimilating the question. She was dumbfounded and didn't know what to say, she tried exchanging glances with Miguel but the latter adjusted his gaze away from her.
This was it! She was left alone. At this point, even the man who brought her into his mess has completely left her alone to answer to the curious old man.
At Anna's house, her manager helped her get dressed into a nice outfit as she gestured for her to put on nice black sunglasses fit for a disguise.
"I should try calling him," Anna said as she picked up her phone after getting dressed but her manager took the phone away from her and dropped it on the bed. "What's that for?"
"Miguel told you not to call or text him since he'll be visiting his father with his stand-in wife."
Anna sat on the bed in frustration. "How long will I keep being in the shadow? I want Miguel all to myself."
Her manager sat beside her, patting her back and reassuring her that all would be well. But Anna didn't want to listen. She kept cursing whoever Miguel's stand-in wife was.
"Didn't you hear that his father wants a grandchild? How will he get a grandchild if Miguel doesn't have sex with the so-called wife?" Anna's brows twitched furiously. She couldn't help but see things in the other aspect.
The woman sitting beside her understood what Anna was driving at. "This can't be. But he promised he wouldn't touch her."
"Miguel is a big flirt. I know what he can do." Anna removed her sunglasses in annoyance. She stood up and started walking back and forth, thinking of what to do. Miguel was hers and she couldn't watch him slip away from her fingers.
Her manager knows fully well the mind of the man Miguel was. A big-shot CEO of the biggest fashion company in Spain and the most eligible bachelor. Any woman who wanted to remove her pants in front of him and Anna was just lucky to be the wowasasis faithful to; she wished.
"I've thought of a plan." The manager said.
Anna didn't hesitate as she sat back on the bed, eager to know what idea her manager had come up with.
"How about you pinning him on the bed and getting pregnant for his father's grandchild?" Her manager suggested with a devilish smirk plastered on her face.
She knew Anna would love her idea. The latter was trying to process her manager's idea in her head.
"Think about it, Anna. His father would come to like you once you get him a grandchild." She added, smirking in accomplishment.
"Now that I think about it..." Anna said, massaging her temple.
Her manager was busy smiling from ear to ear when Anna slapped her on her shoulder. "Ouch! What's that for?" The woman groaned from the slight pain as her smile was replaced with a frown. This was what she had least expected.
"That's for your foolish idea. How can you bring such a useless suggestion?" Anna stood up, yelling.
"Calm down, Anna. I thought it'd be a good idea. Judging on how desperate you are to have him all to yourself when you know it's impossible." Her manager retorted.
"What? It's possible. Miguel is all mine and I'm going to prove it to you. He'll be furious if he gets to hear the kind of suggestion you brought out."
The woman regretted bringing such a suggestion. She didn't know Anna was going to react like this as she thought of a way to digress from the discussion. "Let's go compensate the doctor. He must be waiting." She said before leaving the furious Anna all alone in her room the latter heaved a sigh and wore her dark sunglasses before following her manager from behind.

A/N: I know this might be confusing but there are two "ANNA'S" in this novel. One is Cecilia's ex-bestfriend and the other is Miguel's girlfriend. Please, don't be confused.
