Tana wanted to help him more, maybe tell him of her father's plans but she didn't know them.
She just hoped that Martin would be able to fight against her father unlike her who had just gone along with everything he had asked of her, and it had turned her into an emotionless being that only lived for her father's wish.
Tana left the desk, and all the eyes that had been staring at Martin's table followed her out of the room before turning to stare at Martin.
Martin pushed the strands of hair that had fallen out of his bun back into their place, ignoring the hostile looks that were being sent his way.
The school day was over in a bit, and Martin was finally free to go back home.
He walked down his usual path home, and he couldn't help but wonder what Ace was up to.
Martin really hoped that kid didn't turn into a criminal over the past two weeks.
At least, he had not heard any news of missing persons which meant he was still safe, but he also had to find the kid something to satisfy that hunger before he wakes up one night without one of his limbs.
Martin walked to the center of the city, and he went straight into the Co-operation of Adventurers.
It was time to get a part-time job.
He really had to find a way to take care his vast expenses, and save some money to go that Mage Order Academy.
"How may I help you?" A sultry voice jolted him back to reality. It was his favorite moderate lady, Jasmine.
Jasmine looked at the person in front of her, she couldn't place where she had seen such a handsome face before.
"I'd like to take a mission."
Jasmine smiled when she heard his voice. It was that unfortunate kid that had narrowly escaped death when all his teammates had died.
Martin's words suddenly registered in Jasmine's head. He wanted a mission.
The last time she saw him, he had no rune. What made him think he would be able to survive another mission the same way.
Jasmine puffed out a breath of air.
Strangely, she didn't want this young man to die so she wasn't going to give him any solo mission.
"There are no solo missions available." Jasmine lied through her teeth with a smile.
Martin sighed, he didn't even know he could go on solo missions, and now that he did, they weren't available.
"Can't you search your data? I'm sure there's one hiding there. I really need the money." Martin leaned forward in a attempt to look at her computer.
Jasmine blushed from how close he was before turning away her computer, and she glared at him in eyes that told him to back off.
"How can I get a mission then?" Martin sighed, and asked her. He was really adamant.
"You'll need to find a team." Jasmine said to him before turning her head to face her computer. There was no way he could find a team that easily.
She knew he was new here that was why he kept coming to her instead of going directly to the mission board where all the missions were kept.
Jasmine didn't care, she would have a little fun with him for the time being.
Martin walked around the building. It was a very big building when you looked at it from the inside.
There were people who walked about together, talking with one official or the other.
Martin realized that he had not really understood how being an adventurer worked.
He knew he had a badge, but he didn't have an account where his money could be transferred to which was why they had paid his money by loins.
Martin brought the badge, and looked at it.
Five stars were displayed at the top but they lacked their usual gold colors.
He simply attached the badge to his chest pocket so he could feel like an actual adventurer.
Martin then decided he had to create an adventurer's account.
He had overheard someone say that the adventurer's points had more value than the loins but only some qualified members were paid in points while the rest took the loin payment.
Martin moved over to the cashier, and he saw a guy in a green cloak standing at the desk.
"Evening." Martin greeted the man but the man only nodded in reply.
_May you never return from your next adventure._
He couldn't believe that he had been ignored.
Martin looked at the cashier with a small smile on his face.
"I'd like to create an account."
The cashier glanced at him, his beady eyes scanning the boy's appearance before he decided what he would say.
"Only available for three-stars."
Martin only nodded his head, and turned around.
He had wanted to try his luck, maybe the cashier was someone who had just resumed, and didn't know the rules.
Now, he had no choice but to increase his rank to a three-star.
Night was fast approaching, and he had not found a team yet.
Martin created a whirlpool in the middle of his hand, as he thought of what he could do next.
He couldn't sell the mana gems he had seen in that cave.
It would make him look suspicious once someone found out the high quality of those gems or they would hunt him just to get more.
"Hey kid," Someone tapped him on the shoulder interrupting his concentration, and the whirlpool vanished.
"Sorry for startling you." The man said causing Martin to look back at him.
"It's alright. I was about to leave anyway." Martin placed his hands into his pocket, and shrugged.
"Wait please. From what I saw, you are a wind element user right?"
_I'm a user of fire, lightning, and wind but if I told you, you would pee your pants, and jump to your death_
"Yes I am." Martin's face donned a gentle smile.
"We need a wind user in our team. We are lacking in defense since most of us are on the offensive side of the elements." The man had a hefty build, and he wore only pants showcasing his huge muscles. It actually made Martin a bit intimated.
The man cut his hair into a smooth crew cut, and it complimented his body-building look.
"Don't you need a water user for that?" Martin raised a brow.
"Yes we do, but it seems water users aren't as easy to come by as before. They rarely become adventurers because of the wide range of their powers."
The man said while rubbing the back of his neck.
He really hoped this kid would follow them.
"I don't know though. I have school, and…"
"I'll give you part payment now."
"It's a deal." Martin smiled, and shook the man's hand.
"How am I sure you wouldn't run away?" The bulky man eyed Martin, he couldn't easily trust just anyone.
Martin knew the man had a point so, he took off his badge, and handed it over to the man.
"I can't apply to be an adventurer twice so you can hold on to my badge, and return it to me later on."
The man took the badge with a straight look, he understood that the boy was the real deal if he was going to give something as important as an adventurer's badge.
"We'll meet here same time on Friday." The man said, and turned around.
Martin didn't say anything as he stepped outside the door of the Co-operation of Adventurers.
He had become three gold loins richer.
Now he had to go home to stop someone from committing a scary crime.
