Chapter 44 - STRANGE PUDDLE

Martin stopped in his tracks when he heard what that ringleader had called him.

_Scum?_

"Yes you. Where do you think you are going?" The man took a few steps forward before turning around to speak to his men.

"Don't let that pipsqueak out of your sight. Beat him until he isn't recognizable by his useless mother."

He snickered before turning back to face the stranger he was talking to but his eyes widened when he realized that this stranger had mysteriously disappeared.

"Uhn? Where did he go?" Ringleader looked to his sides but he couldn't see the man.

"Boss! Behind you!"

Kuk!

Ringleader was about to turn his body backward but he realized he wasn't able to move. He tried activating his powers but somehow he wasn't able to.

Why were his underlings looking at him with such a scared face? His vision suddenly dimmed, and he realized that he was falling to the ground.

Ringleader was dead.

Martin wasn't planning to do anything before but this time he was going to make sure these men do not see the light of the day.

The last time he had set a bully free, that same bully had returned to bite him in the freaking ass.

Moreover, he wasn't that weak kid that was going to let someone go after they had called him names, or the rich brat that was basically useless or too weak to fight back.

He had powers at the tip of his fingers, and he was going to use them selfishly.

Martin turned to look at the other men, and he walked over to them. He has to get rid of every witnesses.

Killing a human didn't actually feel as heavy as he thought.

It just made him feel dirty, and it wasn't the kind of dirty that could easily be watched away with water.

It was one that felt like it would stick for a while, and he hated the feeling but he had to deal with it for now.

Martin didn't think that the first living thing he would kill in this world would be a human, he expected a beast or a freaking blind orc to serve justice for Liam's death.

His cold calculating eyes stared at the people that stood in front of him, and he walked forward, contemplating on what decision to make.

The henchmen shifted away from pipsqueak, and they went on their knees when they had saw that appeared on Martin's face.

They couldn't help but inwardly curse their dead boss.

"Why did you anger this man, Boss? It would have been better if you died alone. Now, you have to bring us to join you?!"

They didn't know what to do so they bowed their heads and kept apologizing for their bad behavior.

"We are sorry. We didn't know! We were dragged out here by him." Henchman number one with an auburn hair color immediately spoke up, unprepared to die.

Martin took a glance at the boy they had been beating up,

"I don't want to hear a single word about what happened here to anybody, or believe me, I'd be coming for the both of you."

Martin generated a ball of fire in one of his hands as a warning.

The boy who didn't know anything about mages were surprised at what they were seeing, so they made a motion of clamping down their mouth.

"Thank you. We wouldn't speak of it!" The both men said immediately.

Martin quirked a brow, "Speak of what?"

"Nothing!" They said immediately, and ran away in the opposite direction eager to get away the man that had brutally murdered their boss.

Martin turned to leave, but someone grabbed his leg.

"Please don't leave me alone." The boy spoke, his lips had swollen up, and his face was

Martin took a glance at him, and looked as if he was contemplating something but he suddenly crouched by the side of the boy.

He held up this boy's chin so he could look at the boy directly. He seemed to be thirteen years.

"My advise to you would be to get rid of that sorry look on you face, and look for a better way to help your mother than being a punch bag to others." Martin took another look into his eyes before standing up.

"Please help me achieve that." The boy reached out before Martin could leave.

Martin took one last look at him, "What's your name?"

"Martin."

_What are the odds?_

Martin frowned. He didn't believe he found someone with his former name.

Was this boy like the alternate version of his former life?

He was rich and the heir to a multi billionaire's wealth but this Martin was poor, and wretched. He was also probably the heir of a poor dead man.

"Ok. When you are at Master level of your cultivation, you should ask for Axton Zavier if you want me to help you."

"I don't think…" The pipsqueak was about to say something when Martin interrupted him.

"Then you aren't ready." Martin turned around to leave.

"I am," Pipsqueak said but Martin was already leaving, "I'll come look for you."

Martin had a small smile on his face but he didn't turn back. He knew he would be expecting the boy.

He just hoped the pipsqueak wasn't someone like Lance.

Martin arrived at his home. It was already too late to get anything at the trading center.

Ace sat in the kitchen with his head resting on his chins. He looked like a painting.

His golden eyelashes opened up exposing his bright blue eyes as he casted a indifferent look at Martin.

"Welcome back, Master." He had a smooth calm voice that would make any lady weak in the knees but to Martin, this teenager was still a baby.

He didn't think much of him, he just needed his strength.

"I don't think I'd be going to school tomorrow." Martin muttered as he went to the kitchen to get something for his dinner.

"You have been skipping school a lot." Ace commented.

"There's nothing special in that school. The students are spoilt, and obnoxious. I only need the library."

"For what?" Ace asked but Martin didn't bother to ask him, as he placed their dinner on the table.

Ace caught a whiff of Martin's scent, and grimaced.

"Did you kill someone?"

Martin bit into his dinner, and glanced at Ace, "Yeah."

"You seem nonchalant about it."

"It was a mistake."

Martin let out a small smile. He didn't want to kill the man but it had happened. Maybe scare him a little, but death wasn't his plan. It just happened, and he went along with the situation.

"I mean you seem nonchalant about my knowledge about it. I don't care what you do with your life. Commit a genocide for all I care." Ace ate his dinner like a gentleman for the first time.

Martin almost choked on his food when he heard Ace's statement.

"You were a baby just a few weeks ago. I literally can't be surprised about anything you do. I won't commit a genocide. Yet."

Ace just stared at him, and they both burst into laughter.

"Stay here, and wait for me." Martin spoke to Ace before going into the trap door under his bed.

He had one day to get ready for that mission so he needed all the help he could get.

He found his way to his mana cave.

Martin stepped into the cave, and he felt something wet under his feet.

"Water?"

Martin looked at the floor of cave, and in front of him was a puddle. The only liquid he had seen in the cave was the mana river, so what kind of liquid was this?

He bent down, and touched the water before bringing it to his tongue.

_Salty water. _

"This is sea water."

"How?"

The only sea that was close to the city was the Navethadrath Sea.

How did sea water reach the cave?
