The steam quickly cleared up, and Theo's figure immediately appeared with a smile on his face, and he was unharmed with a three-layered water shield in front of him.
Even the referee had actually failed to see the movement of the fire dragon, but he was happy that the young boy wasn't harmed.
Theo moved his hands, and the stream of water shot into Mayn's chest, throwing him out of the battle center.
"Winner is Theodore from the B-Class." Walker had gotten out from his stunned state and he went to announce the winner of the match.
Theo's face was expressionless as if he had been expected the outcome.
"The judges have made a decision. Theodore moves to the A-grade while Mayn would be remain in the his usual grade. The judge decided that fire dragon was one beautiful spell." Walker gave Mayn a pat on the back.
However, Mayn remained agitated, even though he had not been demoted, he couldn't raise his head up after knowing he had been shamefully defeated.
The students clapped to welcome the participants back to the stage.
It was time for the next round, and the someone whispered something into the Dean's ear causing him to leave.
The Vice-Dean had to be the one to choose.
He brought forward the two chosen names, and handed them over to Walker.
"Next participants, please come forward. Frey Craven, and Axton Zavier!" Walker announced, and the crowd went silent, waiting for the two students to walk out.
"It's that guy."
"Yeah, Miss Sheila's pet."
"The hero of the F-grade."
"He's F-grade?"
"Yes."
"Damn, I wished I had him as an opponent."
"Me too, I'd blow his ass out of the battle, and be promoted to the A-grade at once."
Martin on the other hand didn't hear his name, he was busy contemplating on Theo's new zone.
Was that why he had been absent?
He definitely has to go meet him after this stupid exam.
"Yo, Axton. It's your turn." Martin looked at his side to see Lance pointing forward, and when he looked up, he realized that the whole place had gone silent as they were waiting for this Axton kid to step out.
No one actually knew what he looked like?
Was it because he spent most of his time in the library?
"My bad." Martin said, immediately walking forward, and ignoring the sneering looks of the other students.
"Why did he take so long?"
"Was he waiting for Miss Sheila to lead him out like the pet that he is?"
Martin nearly choked when he heard that statement.
_Someone had some serious jealousy issues_
He walked to the center, and immediately faced the opponent.
The girls immediately felt a wave of heat rushing to their cheeks when they saw him.
This Axton kid was actually hot, he had tied his hair to the back, and let only a few strands to drop down to his face.
"I didn't expect that he would be this good-looking." One of the girls whispered to her friend.
"He isn't that hot." Her friend replied back with an eye roll.
"Pfft. He's hotter than your boyfriend." She spat back, and immediately moved away.
The other girl was about to say something but she couldn't.
Her face was red with anger, and embarrassment because she knew her friend was right.
Boys clung tightly to their girlfriend the moment they saw Axton.
Martin stood straight without knowing he just made a lot of enemies with just his looks.
"I was just about to cancel your exam." Walker's tone was smooth yet firm.
"I'm sorry." Martin bowed his head in apology, and he looked to get a proper look at his opponent.
The boy wasn't looking at him, instead he was looking down at his watch.
_Who does this child think he is?_
Martin could identify that proud look anywhere, as he once had one in his past life.
"Remember the rules?" Walker asked both of the students, and they gave a small nod.
"Let the match begin." Walker said the moment he stepped out of the center of the battle field.
Frey moved the single strand of hair on his face to the back of his head, this was the chance he was waiting for, a chance to take revenge for his cousin, and he wasn't going to let it pass him by.
This orphan was going to pay.
He immediately charged forward, his hands, full of a strange looking magic.
Martin's eyes widened.
_What the heck is that?_
Meanwhile, standing in the shadows at the entrance of the hall was a man who had a smile on his face.
This was the exact same reason he had chosen to use his nephew, Frey.
The blue fire in his hand wasn't the normal kind of fire. It was that burnt under the control of the user, waiting patiently for the user's command.
Martin's senses were tingling. He knew those blue flames meant danger.
The teachers were a bit surprised but not as surprised as the students.
None of them knew they had such a student.
Martin immediately casted his Gale steps, and dodged Frey's attack.
Then Martin felt it, it was bloodlust.
This boy wanted to harm him, and if possible, he wanted to also end him.
_What?_
Martin knew what death was, how being killed felt like, and if there was one thing he didn't take likely, it was a threat to his life.
He would do his best to eliminate every possible threat, whoever, and whatever it was.
Frey smirked, the boy had escaped his grasp easily.
"So he's a wind user." Frey caught the spell being used by Martin, and he couldn't help the wide grin that appeared on his face.
It was going to be a lot easier than he thought.
"Fire Rune: Fire Ball!" Frey's voice sounded in the hall. A huge blue ball of fire appeared in his hand, blazing more brightly than Mayn's own, and its size was half the normal human size.
Everyone held their breath, while the referees got ready to save Axton if he wasn't able to dodge the attack.
For once, the Kian family head, Sigrid sat up in his chair, his eyes were expectant as he watched the show. Maybe he could recruit that fiery killer.
"I want you dead." Frey muttered under his breath, and with a yell, he released the ball.
Martin knew that from the trajectory the ball was heading to him, he would be able to dodge, so he had to use a spell with equal amount of power.
"Wind Rune: Wind Blade." Martin said in a low tone, and a long, thick, and vertical wind blade appeared in front of him.
Martin shot the wind blade forward, and it immediately went through the ball dividing it into two separate parts which passed by him generating gusts of wind against his cloth.
With a snap of his finger, the edge of the wind blades became blunt.
The blade shrunk into an horizontal shape before slamming into Frey, and causing him to skid across the floor of the battle area.
A huge wall of water appeared behind Martin, and extinguished the split ball of fire. The referee was able to save the students.
"How the heck did he stop that thing?"
Those who had mocked Axton immediately bowed their head in shame, because they realized in that position, they would have been dead meat.
Dergin almost spat out blood from the shock he had just received. Jin never said that this kid was this strong.
He silently cursed, and turned to leave. He knew Frey was going to be angry, and in his anger, he always ignored the consequences.
"I'll burn you to ashes." Frey growled as he picked himself from the floor.
Martin had stopped playing around either. He didn't think that this boy was this persistent.
It was time to end this silly match, and get promoted.
Martin immediately raised his hand, and countless wind blades started to appear around him.
For a normal novice cultivator, this was not a normal feat, but Martin had two mana cores, and they were both filled to the brim.
