Chapter 38 - NEW CLASS, STRANGE BEHAVIORS

Martin walked into the school, and went straight to the leaderboard. He had missed most of the match, and even the posting of the finalized results because of his hibernation.

He knew he was going to be in Class A but he wanted to know what his current rank was.

Normal school activities had began a week ago so, apparently he had missed a week of his classes which was not a good way to start a new class especially one with high-ranked students.

"That's the guy." Students were whispering among themselves when they saw him.

He was the same person that had shocked everyone at the magical examinations but Martin was too focused on what he was searching for, and didn't bother to pay any attention towards them.

Martin then saw a group of students gathering in front of a certain board, that had to be the board where the examinations ranks were placed.

He moved there quickly, and seeing who was heading towards them, the students quickly left the board.

Apparently, no one wanted to be seen around him.

Martin couldn't understand why. A lot of things must have happened while he wasn't in school.

He stood in front of the wall, which had two long boards placed by side by side

His eyes darted from top to bottom searching for the name—Axton Zavier.

Many would call him proud after seeing what he was doing but he felt like he deserved to be at the top.

Maybe it was the mentality he brought from his former world but Martin had never found his name at the bottom.

Most of the times, it was placed on the top of the scoreboard, some other time, it was placed second.

He basically lived to fulfill his grandfather's wish and the dying man always wanted him to be at the top.

"Ah." Martin breathed a sigh of relief when he finally found his name. He was placed on the tenth space.

Well it was expected, cough.

He has just resumed this school, and there were powerhouses who had been here for months building up their strength.

One of those powerhouses was the name of the guy who took the first spot, Rider.

That name felt familiar to Martin, and he couldn't quite place where he had heard of it before which was rather strange.

Theo had come in at the eleventh position right under Martin's place.

Martin knew that Theodore wasn't that type of friend to be jealous of someone's success as he was never interested in going into the A-grade in the first place.

Martin couldn't find Lance's name after searching for a while, and he decided to start from the top.

"What the heck?" Martin exclaimed when he saw his friend's name.

The boy's name was sitting peacefully at the fifth position.

The friend he had saved from bullies was sitting in an higher position than him.

Martin didn't know what to feel so he just shrugged.

At least he was in the A-grade which meant he could finally have access to the highest levels in the library where all the secrets of the cultivator lay hidden.

A smile appeared on his face as he walked to class, then he realized something.

"Damn."

Martin didn't know the route to the A-grade class.

"Hey Axton." A calm voice floated into his ears, and he couldn't help but feel a jittery feeling below his stomach.

There was only one lady that made him feel that way. It was his beloved Miss Sheila.

He turned around with a smile, "Good day Teacher."

Sheila smiled back at the boy,

"Congratulations on your promotion. It seems you don't know your class."

Martin awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.

This teacher of his had guessed right. He didn't think he would he able to hide anything from her, she was very smart.

Seeing his flustered look, Sheila shook her head, and invited him to follow her.

They walked with each other, and Martin made a mental note that Sheila hadn't bothered to ask where he had been for the past two weeks. Somehow that made him sad.

Maybe she didn't really think much of him.

"Thank you Ma'am." Martin smiled when they arrived at his class, and at the same time, the school bell rang signaling the start of a new period.

However Martin's eyes widened when Siera stepped into the class with him.

She was also his teacher in this class which meant that she had gotten a promotion.

Martin was right. The academy had been amazed by the performance of Martin and Lance that they had given the sexy teacher a promotion.

He took a step into the class, and everyone turned to look at him, most of them had disgust written all over their face as they quickly accessed his clothes and appearance, and came to one decision—He was not fit for their class.

Martin immediately noticed the difference between the A-grade classroom, and his former F-grade classroom.

The A-grade classroom was more spacious even if there were less students due to high criteria needed to get to the class.

He also saw that the students were very animated.

There was a girl who has very long ribbons on her ponytail, and she looked like she was dipped in bucket of pink paint.

Even her desk was pink.

Martin's eyes moved to the front, then he saw another guy with wavy hair, which had golden streaks in them.

The golden boy looked very familiar but his face was turned to the other side and Martin was unable to see his full face.

Martin then spotted Lance by a corner, and luckily there was a free seat beside him.

Lance looked up to see someone he had not expected.

Martin was smiling straight at him but rather than smiling back, the boy quickly looked away but Martin didn't notice his behavior.

Martin walked to the empty seat, ignoring the look of contempt that was being sent his way.

He was about to sit down when Lance placed his hand on the seat.

"Um… This seat already belongs to someone. You'd have to find somewhere else to sit." Lance said in a low tone causing Martin to arch a brow.

"Alright."

Martin said one word, and turned around causing Lance to heave a sigh of relief.

He didn't have anything else to say. Lance had betrayed him also by turning his back on him.

Martin found himself wondering what had truly happened in the past two weeks. It was obvious that Lance was lying to him.

This was the A-grade class, and they were all prestigious students.

Miss Sheila was in class, and no one would dare to come late except him of course, because he wasn't the type to give a damn.

He found a free seat just behind Pinky, and he didn't like it one bit.

Her huge ponytails were obstructing his view.

Martin had found the class somewhat peaceful. The A-grades were definitely different from the F-grades.

They were totally serious, and didn't even flinch when Miss Sheila had bent down to pick a pen.

He had underestimated them.

The moment Sheila left the class, Martin casted a glance at the seat beside Lance, and realized it was still empty which confirmed that Lance had lied to him.

Martin let out a yawn which made the rest of the students turn to look at him but he didn't care.

There was no sign of a teacher in class so he was free.

_What a boring class._
