Life in Beijing had slowly gone back to normal for Marcus, as he had somehow managed to repair the drunken damage and save the friendship he didn't think he even wanted. It felt comforting and weirdly satisfying to watch a movie with her, hearing her laugh, and just simply being in her space. He wouldn't refer to this as love, cuz that feeling can only be attributed to just one woman and no one else, no matter how comfortable she made him feel. But this, it was different; unexplainably different.
He was struggling to keep himself in check and not overstep his boundaries. Mistakes were not allowed to happen, and this he knew too well. Though it was a struggle, but he somehow managed to keep his head above the water, clearing the line between them and ensuring to remind himself that the relationship between them couldn't cross beyond friendship.
