Chapter 18 - #18 Wooden house

Zeth opened his eyes in a room. He was in bed, and when he tried to sit up, his body ached. He remembered being injured, but the wounds had been bandaged.

Zeth said, "Right, I was fighting a mid-level demon. I must have passed out." He wondered, "Where am I?" and looked around. He was in a medium-sized, wooden room lit by candles and without windows. He stood up and headed towards the door. As he opened the door, he saw three people sitting in the middle of a place that looked like a living room, eating. There was an old man and two girls. One of them looked about his age. Zeth remembered the man. He was the white-haired man he had seen before fainting.

"So, you woke up! Don't exert yourself too much, your wounds may reopen," said the man with a smile on his face.

"No, you shouldn't get out of bed yet!" said the girl who looked about his age with concern. The other younger girl just stared at Zeth.

"Who are you?" Zeth asked anxiously.

"Calm down, young man. I am the one who saved you and brought you here. My name is Tarek. Come, sit down, let's talk. And by the way, you must be hungry, have some meat," said the man. Although Zeth remained skeptical and alert, he was very hungry and when he saw the food, he sat down next to them and started eating.

"Bon appétit!" said the girl who looked about his age.

"By the way, my name is Yelda. And this is my sister Haen."

"Hello, brother." Haen said.

Zeth looked up as a greeting.

"You were quite strong, young man. You did well against that mid-level demon," Tarek said.

"I amh" replied Zeth, with his mouth full of meat. The girls started laughing. Zeth continued eating without saying anything.

"So, young man, would you like to tell us a bit about yourself? I don't come across a wandering person like you in the midst of emptiness every day!" said Tarek. Zeth finished his meal and turned towards Tarek to start the conversation.

"My name is Zeth. I survive on my own. I'm 15 years old," he said in a toneless voice. "And thanks, uncle, for saving me," Zeth added.

"You're welcome!" Tarek said, laughing.

"By the way, I'm not an uncle. I'm only 45!"

"According to me, you're pretty old, dad." said Yelda. Haen started laughing.

"But I am still young!" Tarek said with a smile.

After filling his stomach, Zeth stood up and said, "I'm leaving. Thanks for taking care of my wounds."

Tarek also stood up and said, "At least wait until your wounds heal. You can't fight in this condition, young man."

Zeth was tired and for the first time in his life, he had woken up in a soft bed. He had also slept in a sturdy house for the first time and seen a wooden house. Although Zeth didn't fully trust these people but, he didn't really have any other options.

"Okay," Zeth said, rolling his eyes.

"Great. Then come, let me show you around!"
