Tarek showed Zeth around the house. It was a two-story wooden place. The ground floor had a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Upstairs, there were three rooms. They went outside and found themselves in the middle of a vast, flat land surrounded by fences. The land spanned about 100-200 meters. In the plot, there was a house, a clubhouse, and a large potato field. Right next to the house, there was also a balcony-like space. After showing Zeth around, Tarek and Zeth sat on the balcony.
"Is this all yours?" Zeth asked.
"Yes, this land is mine. Before the disaster, I used to live here with my daughter, my son, and my wife," Tarek said, lost in thought.
"Unfortunately, they all passed away. I'm the only one left," Tarek said.
Zeth inquired, "What about the girls in the house?"
"They are the children I adopted eight years ago. I'm not their biological father. I found them while scavenging in a decimated community after a recent attack. Their house, like any other, was destroyed. Yelda was holding Haen in her arms, scared and hiding under their bed. I brought them with me," Tarek explained.
"I see," Zeth responded.
"What about you, young man? What's your story? When I found you, you had a sword in your hand. Do you fight with a sword? It was so heavy that it was difficult to bring it back home. You must be very strong! What is your magic?" Tarek asked.
"I wander alone. Vordim was the one who raised us. He died when I was very young. I used to travel with my brother, but he also died. I spend my life pillaging, killing demons, and searching for a place to settle," Zeth explained.
"I'm sorry. Your father must have been a good man to have raised you so strong," Tarek said.
"I don't know if he was my real father, but that's how I saw him," Zeth replied.
"I understand. What about your magic?" Tarek asked.
"Ma-gic? I don't understand," Zeth had never heard of such a word before.
Tarek looked at Zeth with surprise. "I'm talking about your power. What is your power? I can't sense any magic residue on you. I'm curious."
"My power? I can momentarily increase the size, endurance, and strength of my muscles. It comes in handy during battles, but it requires a lot of energy," Zeth answered.
"What do you mean by energy? Muscle enhancement? But that's not magic," Tarek said, astonished.
"I don't know what magic is. But this is my power," Zeth explained.
Tarek was greatly surprised. In this world, everyone had different magic, but they all fell under three categories:
- Power-class magic users could perform destructive spells.
- Enhancement-class magic users could temporarily increase their own or others' defenses or magical/physical strength.
- Support-class magic users could heal their own or others' physical wounds.
"This is strange," Tarek thought to himself. "I'm curious!"
