Chereads / The Barons Sloth System / Chapter 13 - Departing

Chapter 13 - Departing

"Your question doesn't make sense? There's only space for 2 magigliths and I'd need at least 6 to finish it." Luna complained. She, Aerial and I were sitting around a round table, in the middle of the estates library, filled with books, ink, quills and loose stacks of paper.

"Read the question again. It specifically says 'What ALTERATIONS can be made to complete this basic fire formation?' If you looked carefully and read the question you would realise there's several points where you can simplify the magigliths I used to make space for another 4 magigliths on top of the two I left." I explained arrogantly, like this stuff couldn't be any easier.

Yet despite my tone and action, I was crying inside. I hadn't understood a damn thing when I was forced to join this little study group. If it weren't for the sloth system I would probably be getting schooled by my little sister.

8000 exchange points… gone. Just like that. I had saved up quite a lot over the past 12 years and I realised just how quickly I could use them. It may not have seemed like I used much, but sleeping 70% of the day on average, 16.8 hours, that was the equivalent of 476 days of sleep, which was over a year, an entire one twelfth-ish of my savings.

The other thing was that I now had a horrible headache and was finding it difficult to recall any kind of knowledge. It felt like the knowledge had just been inserted into me and then all my memories were blended together so I wouldn't notice the seams where the additional memories were added on. Now, I was having to organise my memories after they had been blended together. The headache was indeed terrible.

Either way, for a little bit of suffering I had surprised both Ariel and Luna.

I also wasn't completely useless. While I had the knowledge, coming up with questions was a different skill entirely and I was pretty proud of all my questions.

"There's also two uncommon magigliths which interact with each other weirdly, you could use to finish it if there really was only two spaces left." I added.

"Wow. You know a lot brother." My little sister complemented, still working on the question I gave her which was on how a magical theory could be applied in real life.

"I sure do."

"Despite doing nothing…" Luna said begrudgingly.

"Hehehehehe…" I chuckled sinisterly.

It didn't take long to turn 16

Not only that, but I had made a discovery. I could use acceleration in order to get more sleep a day. The only problem was my core energy. For every real world second I used 10 units of mana from my core. It was unsafe to use more than 10% of your core capacity, which gave me about 32000 units of mana to burn, at 10 mana per second to extend time by 4 times, I could use the acceleration skill for 3200 real world seconds, or just under an hour. Times 4 and I could sleep 3 and a half hours in one. After training for the last 4 years I had brought my acceleration skill an extra + which allowed me to use it even while asleep.

Right now the extra time wasn't significant, but if practiced to the extremes I could be sleeping hundreds of hours a day!

'Hohoho' I laughed strangely in my thoughts.

"Lord. Everythings ready." Luna soon snapped me out of my thoughts after entering.

"Ah…" My joy was swiftly squashed. 'The royal academy? Being forced to attend how many hours of class??? Yea, no, I want no part in it.' Or so I thought, but similar to my elder sister, I too was dragged to the train station by two of the apprentice guards while Luna followed, carrying two large suitcases.

"Make sure not to skip classes. Remember to tell your sister we miss her and don't forget an hour of training every morning!" My mother called out worriedly as I was practically thrown into the train by the guards.

"Yea, yea…" I responded.

"Say hi to big sis! Make sure to write back! I'll join you in two years!" Airial called out.

"Yea, yea…"

"If at all possible, try to bring back a woman to marry, extra points if they're a mage." My father added.

"Yea, yea…"

"Alright, we'll see you again in a few years. I love you sweetie!" My mother called out as the train shook and began to move.

"Haa…" I sighed. "I wanna sleep." I complained, leaning back.

As I complained, Luna grabbed my head and lay me down on her lap. "Then sleep. Just don't complain for 6 hours like last time." Luna said annoyedly, referring to the time we took a cramped carriage and I complained about not being able to sleep for the whole 6 hour ride. Frankly I impressed myself with that. Evidently I had become increasingly determined to be as lazy as possible compared to my last life.

Though the cabin, which took up this whole carriage, had beads in it which I would rather sleep on. I found that Luna seemed to be holding me down quite intently while the black cat that she kept was lying down on one of the other couches in the carriage.

"Can I get up?" I asked.

"No. I like you here." Luna responded, playing with my hair.

"..." My eyelid twitches, but after a brief consideration I decided it was less effort to do as she wished than to fight her. She was definitely becoming more rebellious and sassy compared to when she was 9, not to mention her previous Timid and unconfident nature now being on par with a dragon, but since I didn't know the reason why I could only complain in my heart.

The train ride would take 16 hours to get to the capital's train station, so I would just sleep here a while and crawl into bed later.
