In a room engulfed in fire, with shattered windows and destroyed furniture. An old man wrote elegantly on a piece of purple stained paper. His writing was slow and neat.
"I, the 221st king of the Lunar empire, have failed. All I can do is prevent the fiends from taking the heart of our empire, the Moon's blessing. I have passed this blessing on to my youngest daughter and entrust her to Belzemont, the stray beast I once helped as a child. I could have never imagined at the time that Belzemont would become a demigod by the time of my 224th birthday. It is fortunate that Belzamot never appeared in public, else even he wouldn't escape the pursuit of 12 demigods alive."
"My eldest son has sworn to fight by my side till the end and is fighting somewhere. My second daughter has already fallen in battle while my third and fourth sons have aided these fiends. All is well though. Belzamot will take my youngest far from this continent with the moon's blessing. So long as the fiends lack this crucial piece, they can never rule this empire in its entirety."
"While I will eternally bless my daughter even for choosing to live her own life, I still hope that in the future, she and my most trusted friend since childhood will be able to liberate this great empire in the moon's name…"
The doors to the already burning room were kicked open as several people entered.
"Your majesty. Yield now and we can spare you and your other children." One of the men who entered yelled.
The king sighed as he put down his quill, standing up to his full height. "Why ask a question you know the answer to so well." The king asked as he drew his sword.
"I thought I would give you the choice." The man said, raising a glowing black spear. Behind the king, the purple paper slowly faded into nothingness before completely ceasing to exist.
…
"Ah!"
I was suddenly awoken from my sleep when Luna screamed out loud.
"Hmm? A nightmare?" I asked. Looking out the carriage window to find a pitch black night with the moon hanging bright in the sky. 'What an abysmal time…' I thought as I complained internally.
"N-no my lord… S-Sorry…" Luna stammered, her breathing heavy and face dripping with sweat.
"Alright…" I said, ready to go back to sleep.
"M-my lord…"
"Yes?"
"What do you know of the Lunar Empire?"
"Ah… One sec, let me wake up a bit…" I said, rubbing my eyes while using the system to exchange 500 points for basic geographical knowledge. As annoying as she was, I'de still help her if I could, and geography wasn't my strong suit while I knew it would be taught in the academy. Either way, it wasn't much of a waste.
"From what I remember, it should be a powerful empire on a continent a third the way around the world south west. It's considered one of the most powerful in the world since it has an abnormal amount of demi-gods among its nobility and royalty…" I tried thinking for anything else, but it seemed that was as much about the distant empire as basic geography knowledge would give me. It was much more detailed about my local area though. The many baronies, counties and dukedoms as well as their lords suddenly became as easy as pie for me to recall when I could previously barely recall the surrounding territories.
That was about as much as I could expect though considering the maps I had seen in the estate only covered this continent, its neighbouring continent and some surrounding notable islands. I also learned the world had over 12 continents and was definitely larger than Earth was.
After a moment, Luna's black cat jumped up to her bed and snuggled with her, comforting her before she lay back down to go back to sleep. Since she didn't ask anything else I followed suit and almost immediately fell back asleep.
Though it felt like I could vaguely hear some voices as my consciousness faded.
"Is it really so far away…"
"I've looked around but haven't found any evidence that this continent even knows of the Latoria continent, let alone the Lunar empire. The fact he even knows of it is already surprising, so he should be right about the location as well."
"..."
"Anyway, this is good. With your current identity and Dirksen's nature of avoiding trouble, you should be safe and have all the time you need to leverage the moon's blessing and quickly become a demigod. Hopefully "
"Will I have to leave?"
"It's up to you. If you really don't wish to go back, your father would still bless you…I'm happy to stay here. These things they call trains are incredible, the Lunar Empire won't be able to compare in logistics."
…
Eventually, Luna woke me up once we were about to arrive. She carried the two large suitcases which must have both weighed a ton as if they were nothing as she followed behind me.
Unlike the train station at the barony, the one in the capital was massive and crowded. Trains were everywhere and I counted at least 16 different tracks in the large building.
If not for the large signs I probably would have gotten lost in the massive station, fortunately it didn't take long to get to the entrance and make our way to an equally crowded main street. 3 or 4 story Victorian styled buildings stretched forward left and right with a dam tram moving through the wide streets.
"Yup…. I have no idea where to go." I said flatly.
"Dirrrrrrk!" A voice soon yelled out across the crowd of street traffic and I turned my head to see my elder sister running through the crowd.
"Our guide has arrived…" I commented as I sidestepped my sister who flew right past me after attempting a leaping hug and ended up face planting a street lamp.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
"You bastard of a little…" My sister turned and smiled at me with a vein popping on her forehead, her nose bleeding after almost being broken against a metal pole.
'Why are you mad at me?! You're the one who came running at me!?' I wanted to yell.
