Chapter 7 - chapter 7

The leader of the Sunlight Scripture falters, his resolve shaken as he watches the angels they summoned turn against them. The crystalline object in his hand dims, and he stares at it in disbelief. His soldiers, now surrounded by their own creations, look to him for guidance, but he offers none. The fear in their eyes is palpable, their previous confidence crumbling into dust.

"You… you're not human," the leader stammers, his voice barely above a whisper.

I smile coldly. "I never claimed to be."

I take a step forward, and the ground beneath me trembles, cracks spidering out from where my foot touches. The air thickens with my power, pressing down on the Sunlight Scripture soldiers like a physical weight. The leader falls to his knees, clutching at his chest as if trying to breathe against the suffocating force.

"But you did claim to serve gods," I continue, my tone laced with disdain. "Yet, here you are, trembling before a mere mortal." I say the last word with heavy sarcasm.

"Please… spare us," one of the soldiers begs, his voice trembling with terror. His once proud demeanor is gone, replaced by the desperate will to survive.

I tilt my head, feigning consideration. "Spare you? Now, where would be the fun in that?"

With a flick of my wrist, the angels close in on the soldiers, their once divine faces now twisted into expressions of malice. The soldiers scream in terror, but their cries are quickly silenced as the angels tear into them, their ethereal weapons leaving no trace of blood, only annihilation.

The leader watches in horror, his body trembling uncontrollably. "This… this can't be happening," he mutters, his mind struggling to comprehend the carnage before him.

I walk closer, each step echoing with the finality of death. The leader looks up at me, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and disbelief. "What are you…?" he asks, his voice barely more than a breath.

I lean down, my face inches from his. "I am your reckoning," I whisper, my voice laced with cold fury. "The wrath of those who have been wronged by your so-called gods. I am the end of your lies."

With a thought, I command the angels to stop. The battlefield falls silent once more, the bodies of the fallen littering the ground like discarded toys. The leader is the last one standing, his body wracked with sobs as he realizes the full extent of his defeat.

I reach down and take the crystal from his trembling hands. "This was never going to save you," I say, my voice devoid of emotion. "Your gods are not here, and they never were. You've been abandoned, left to face the consequences of your actions."

The leader's eyes fill with tears as he looks up at me. "Please… I beg of you… show mercy."

I straighten, holding the crystal up to the light. "Mercy?" I echo, as if the word is foreign to me. "Did you show mercy to the innocent lives you destroyed in the name of your gods? Did you show mercy to those you slaughtered in your quest for power?"

The leader opens his mouth to respond, but no words come out. His body collapses in on itself, the weight of his sins too much to bear. He lies there, broken and defeated, waiting for the end.

I crush the crystal in my hand, the shards falling to the ground like shattered dreams. "Mercy is for the weak," I say, my voice carrying across the battlefield. "And you, Sunlight Scripture, are undeserving."

With a final glance at the fallen leader, I turn my back on him. The angels, now under my command, descend upon him without hesitation. His screams are cut short, his existence erased from the world.

I look over the battlefield, the scent of blood and death thick in the air. My gaze falls on Gazeff, standing outside the hut looking at the carnage, battered but alive, watching the scene unfold. His eyes meet mine, a mixture of gratitude and wariness in them.

"Are you satisfied, Gazeff Stronoff?" I ask, my voice carrying across the field.

Gazeff nods slowly, still catching his breath from the fight. "Yes, my lord… thank you," he says, though his tone is tinged with unease.

I chuckle softly. "Don't thank me yet, Gazeff. This is only the beginning."Gazeff's hairs stand on ends

With those words, I turn and walk away, leaving the battlefield and the remnants of the Sunlight Scripture behind. My work here is done, but the game is far from over. There are still many who need to be reminded of the power that lies in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike.

And I, the true god of this world, am more than happy to oblige.
