Chapter 48 - Sword Class

It had been a week since Amon had started practicing Rook's Glide. He took a small breath and manipulated the Prana inside his body to quickly release it from his feet.

Soon, a small spherical orb of Prana energy was created there. He then released his breath, and a small explosion occurred below his feet. His body was thrown to the right side.

He kept his head calm and maintained his balance, and soon his feet landed safely on land again. All this time, they were a little above ground level.

"Finally," he sighed as he fell on his hips slowly. He had been trying his best, but this technique was harder to learn than expected.

Now that he was able to learn this technique to beginner level finally, he was also only able to do side movements.

He had still not learned forward, and backward movement, and his speed of executing this technique was also slow, which made it practically impossible to use in a real confrontation.

"It's just the beginning; I must master this technique." The way he increased his movement speed now was by burning out a large amount of Prana.

This method was faulty, and its movement speed boost was also meager compared to this technique.

Both techniques taught by the prana class teacher were ones that could be customized by the users themselves.

They provided a basic structure; many variations could be created by using them in different ways.

He stood up and started practicing again; there was no shortcut. The only good news is that he was way more talented than other students, because of which he was able to learn it so fast.

Time passed, and he practiced till he had no strength left.

After resting for some time, he decided to have dinner before going to bed.

With each passing day, Amon was improving in every aspect, but he was not satisfied with his progress in swordsmanship.

His swordsmanship had improved under the teacher's guidance, but he still had not learned any sword technique, so his sword attacks weren't that lethal.

However, today was different. The teacher came to the front with a smile when all the students gathered in the field.

"Students, in the previous classes, I have focused on clearing your basics and teaching you how to fight."

"The basics will help you all your life, and in fights too, they will be what you use most of the time." He took a pause, and a smile appeared on his face.

"But you will not be able to defeat your opponents with your swordplay. To defeat them, you need to have a powerful finishing move."

The students cheered; they had all been waiting to hear it. Everyone was fed up with learning the basics every day. It was boring to perfect your stance and sword swing each day.

"Alright, line up based on the type of sword you use."

Students lined up in different lines.

The teacher approached them one by one and taught them a suitable skill. First, he taught the students who used longswords.

He taught them 'Vertical Cleave. A powerful vertical slash that could hack anything into two.

He kept teaching students the sword technique according to the sword they used.

Amon waited patiently for his turn; only one more student with him used dual-wield.

Instead of using a sword in both hands, she dual-wielded two daggers. She had dark skin and silver hair.

From her pointed ears, it was not hard to guess her race; she was a Dark Elf. This came as a surprise to him, as he thought they were good at only bowing.

But each day, he learned something. From his experience, he learned that stereotypes were not always true.

Her gray eyes shifted at him as if trying to guess his intentions. Their eyes met, and Amon looked at her sharp eyes.

Then the teacher looked at them and said, "You both dual-wield. Those that use this type of fighting style don't rely on one strong attack."

"What you need is to keep attacking your opponent's weak points; you need to keep working on your speed and battle instincts."

Amon was a little disappointed; he thought he would learn some superb technique, and with it, he would finally be able to have a proper fighting style.

The girl beside him didn't react at all; she stood in her place with her hands on the back.

"Don't worry, I will teach you one," he laughed as he looked at Amon's face.

Amon looked at his fair-skinned teacher with two large black horns bent backward.

He was Aron Blazeheart, a member of the Blazeheart family. This guy always acted strangely; sometimes, he appeared to favor him, while other times, he made fun of Amon.

"This one is called 'Twin Serpent Strike'. It consists of multiple quick strikes with precision."

Amon and the girl started paying attention; he displayed it to them while explaining.

"First, you should have a proper stance; stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and swords held at your sides, ready to strike."

"Make sure always to maintain your balance."

"Next, you have to work on your striking. The key to the 'Twin Serpent Strike' is the art of timing and rhythm."

"You have to start with a series of light, swift slashes alternating between your two swords. Your movements should be so fluid that they resemble the graceful, weaving motions of two serpents in combat."

"After this, you have to work on precision; without hitting the vitals, you will not be able to do any damage."

"Each slash should be directed with pinpoint accuracy, aiming for vulnerable spots on the opponent's body or weapon. The swords, when moved in harmony, will create a mesmerizing and deadly display of skill. The quick slashes are intended to keep the opponent off balance and unable to predict the next move."

"The 'Twin Serpent Strike' has a signature finishing move. After a rapid sequence of strikes, the practitioner performs a coordinated, spinning maneuver, delivering a powerful dual slash that can incapacitate or disarm their opponent."
