028: The Spiritual Music
Roch paused to savor Zemirah's music, though ordinary without a hint of spiritual energy, it was full of her heart and thoughts.
He stared intently at the woman who, despite the veil hiding her lips, could make him feel her sweet smile. Her eyes were not looking at him but he could imagine the woman's unique fox eyes, her pupils that had the tint of pink like the winter's plum blossom. So beautiful and extraordinary that everyone would be enamored with just a glance from her.
Only when he engraved this scene in his heart did he place the flute artifact to his lips and start to play alongside Zemirah.
Different from Zemirah who only played the artifact normally without using spiritual energy since she is not a music cultivator, Roch mobilized his spiritual energy into the flute artifact and started playing according to the spiritual music score.
He possesses the special physique of [Celestial Moon Frost Body], allowing him to grasp the power of the moon easily for his cultivation. His spiritual energy is special and every bit has a hint of the [Celestial Moon Frost Body] characteristics.
One of them is to be able different types of cold that he can use for his attacks. It can be a biting chill, bone-deep cold, and other unknown effects.
This is also why he can understand swordsmanship that is almost impossible to grasp by anyone who cultivates the Four Divine Arts.
Now, Roch was playing one of the spiritual music scores that he made with difficulty, the [Winter Burn]. Utilizing his body's special characteristics, he will use his frost to freeze his enemies outside and burn them inside.
This is a spiritual music score he created that only suited people like him who have a special physique.
Zemirah only heard pleasant music coming out of Roch's flute and started to dance alongside her normal music from the piano. It was an amazing scene that Zemirah only heard of in legends. As a normal person who only learned musical instruments in her free time, she knew she had no talent to control other people's music or support them.
Now in front of her, a young man dressed in a pure white robe playing a white jade flute stood. The pleasant music in her ears serenades her, and the beautiful sea of roses behind made her eyes shine yet everything is just a background as she stared at the man.
Like the moonlight in the sky, he will shine above while every mortal can only look up from below. Right now, Zemirah felt the man that should be standing high up in the heavens so near, just a few steps away from her and she could touch him and bring him to the mortal world.
Zemirah almost forgot the reason why she and the man in front of her were playing the music. Almost falls into the illusion that perhaps this gorgeous gentleman is her lover who is playing a love song with her in a romantic garden for lovers.
Yet she abruptly woke up from her delusion as she felt the jade pendant on her waist starting to crazily send alarms of danger.
That's right.
There are still enemies following them and they are here now to ambush their supposed ambushers. Roch needed enough time to prepare for his attack which could surely take their enemy's life while she needed to face the enemy head-on first to give Roch some time.
With this thought, any romance or distraction she had was gone. Only the desire to clean her enemy was left.
Zemirah slowly turned her focus on the surroundings while her other hand went to retrieve her talisman, most of them were Grade 2 while some were Peak-Stage Grade 1. Their quality was also consistently Supreme-Quality as Zemirah didn't want mishaps to happen if she skimped on the talismans' quality.
Roch was focusing on playing his flute, his [Winter Burn] music was halfway through already. Yet Roch was not satisfied as he could feel the enemies nearing them.
Opening his eyes, he saw the beautiful lady in front of him stopped playing her piano. Her eyes showed extreme seriousness he rarely saw aside from the time she also helped him eliminate Foundation Building Realm enemies on the flying ship.
Now, a new pair of more formidable enemies came for him, and like before, she was still with him. Ready to face off the enemies without backing off and only utmost wish to kill their enemies.
Roch vaguely felt an inexplicable feeling in his heart, something he only encountered now after meeting this veiled lady.
Zemirah felt her jade pendant's alarm shot through the roof, making her quickly activate two protective talismans [Earth Heart Protection Talisman], a Supreme-Quality High-Stage Grade 2. A huge earthen dome protected Roch and Zemirah inside.
A pair of sword lights condensed from demonic energy struck the earth's dome.
Zemirah heard the cracking sounds of the earth threatening to crumble. Another sword light attacked and the earth wall crumbled with a bang.
Zemirah was prepared as she activated an offensive talisman [Ice Sword Hail Talisman], a Supreme-Quality Late-Stage Grade 2.
The opponents didn't seem to expect an attack will welcome them as she heard a bunch of female voices cursing in a vulgar voice, "F*ck, this b*tch has so many high-quality talismans!"
"Hmph, petty tricks."
Zemirah didn't take their words to heart as she activated another protective talisman, this time she didn't hesitate to activate three talismans and layer them to each other for better defense. She also started using a control-type talisman, [Bloodlust Flower Trap Talisman] Supreme-Quality Early-Stage Grade 2.
The trap can make more time for Roch as they are more troublesome to deal with. It can even completely subdue a mid-stage Foundation Building Realm demonic cultivator so Zemirah has confidence in the talisman.
Seemingly not satisfied, she took out another [Bloodlust Flower Trap Talisman].
"Ah! This flower is disgusting!"
"Cut them off, stop blabbering!"
"I hate these rich pampered ladies the most! Why does she have so many talismans!"
"Shut up!"
Zemirah didn't dare relax as she stared attentively at the earth wall while her ears listened to Roch's music to gauge if he was nearing completion.
Suddenly, a loud bang sounded and Zemirah felt the flower being destroyed. A fire appeared from a demonic weapon artifact of the enemy that burned the flower making the flower's hold on the two female demonic cultivators be loosened. The two demonic cultivators took the chance to escape and fled a few distance away from Zemirah and Roch for fear of being caught off guard by another talisman.
Zemirah is indeed holding another offensive talisman that she wanted to activate while they are busy dealing with the Earth Wall. Seeing the two demonic cultivators being so cautious made Zemirah click her tongue in regret.
The two female cultivators are twins. Zemirah saw everything about them being so similar, from their faces to their belongings. They both hold thin sword artifacts and she can feel the rich demonic energy on them. It was making Zemirah uncomfortable since she's an orthodox cultivator who cultivates the purest spiritual energy with star power.
One of the demonic cultivators narrows her eyes as she stares at the huge Earth Wall that is blocking them. "They are prepared."
Her twin sister rolled her eyes, "If not then we could've already chopped them into pieces."
The older twin was silently thinking about something so she didn't bother responding to her sister's words. "The Whitelock Young Master must've noticed us and lured us here. Quickly break the protective wall, the Whitelock young master must be planning something."
"I already told you before to just kill them when they docked." Her younger sister muttered in annoyance.
"Shut up and attack."
With that, they rushed to the Earth Wall and started bombarding the wall. It didn't take long for the defense to break when a white cold light greeted them. Being prepared, they quickly dodged through some scattered ice swords still managed to scratch them.
"B*tch! You ruined my dress!" The younger sister shouted in anger, her eyes starting to redden.
The older sister narrowed her eyes, also annoyed at the fact that they were being played by talismans. She counted the number of talismans and knew that the female talisman master must be nearing exhaustion from activating so many Grade 2 talismans.
They just need to attack more and they can -
Her line of thoughts was interrupted when a chilling and burning feeling appeared with a piece of beautiful music sounding in their ears and hearts.
Loud alarms of danger incoming urged the two demonic cultivators. The younger twin became silent as the impending doom neared them.
The painful sensation started becoming intense, just as they wanted to escape, a familiar annoying flower emerged, trapping them for the third time.
"AH!" The younger sister shouted in pain after a burning sensation wrapped her heart while every part of her body was cold. The feeling of being wrapped in freezing and burning was unbearable she felt powerless.
"Sister!" The older sister shouted, wanting to help her sister out of her predicament yet she was also in danger. Trying to get out of the trap while enduring the changing hot and cold in her body, the older sister felt anger and regret in her heart arose.
Gritting her teeth, she took out a jade pendant carved with a blood red undiscernible to outsiders and crushed it.
The jade pendant is the life-saving item she once exchanged from the sect to save her life in a situation like this. She saved quite a long time to obtain the jade pendant that holds the special protective enchantment made by the sect elders. She also once urged her sister to buy one for herself but was dismissed as her sister preferred to use her wealth for pleasure.
Now, she regrets not insisting on her younger sister and has no other choice but to use hers to save her only blood-related sister.
The deafening scream from the younger female demonic cultivator stopped when she felt demonic energy protecting her. The dangerous music from the Whitelock Young Master was separated, and the burning and freezing sensations disappeared.
Drenched with sweat, she was about to sigh in relief as she escaped the disaster when she saw her sister being trapped by the crimson blood flower and being attacked by the menacing music.
The older female cultivator saw her young sister being safe and her eyes lit up. Shouting to urge her sister, she said, "Quickly help me deal with this flower. The jade pendant's protection won't last long!"
The older twin shouted in a hurry, not noticing the way her younger sister stopped in her tracks at her words. Busy dealing with the flower to unbind herself, she eagerly needed her sister's assistance.
Finally feeling something wrong when the help she waited for took too long to arrive, she raised her head and noticed her sister's conflicted look.
"Hey! What are you doing there? Quickly come and help." She narrowed her eyes in displeasure.
at the end of her words, she saw a similar face of her own showing resolve. An ominous foreboding arose in her heart and heard her sister she saved say, "Sister, you stay here and delay them. I'll come back for you to take revenge, okay?"
The younger female demonic cultivator said her words in a gentle tone and slowly took a step back. Her older sister's eyes widened in disbelief and anger, her slowly turning bloodshot from rage and betrayal.
"Come back!!!" Yet her younger sister left without turning back.
The cold-blooded back chilled the female demonic cultivator's heart, not believing that she was betrayed by the kindred she had just saved at the expense of exposing herself to danger.
Zemirah, who was watching behind the Earth Wall twitched her lips in amazement at the unexpected drama unfolding in front of her.
Who would've thought that a demonic cultivator would be in disbelief at being betrayed? It was ironic as the established fact that demonic cultivators are unfeeling and never be trusted.
Yet the older sister's actions from earlier proved this otherwise. Even though the younger sister clearly demonstrated this characteristic, letting Zemirah feel chil on her bones at the betrayal that happens even with one's own family.
Sure enough, the cultivation world is cruel.
At that moment, Zemirah seems to finally see the truth of the dark side of Azar.
