Chereads / Hunter of Artemis / Chapter 28 - Rank-1 (3)

Chapter 28 - Rank-1 (3)

(Jake's PoV)

I returned to New Bastion before it was dark and submitted the necessary materials to complete the quests that I took from New Bastion. I gained a few coins but I am after the credits that would make me eligible to enter the Inner City.

It is where one can find various items for sale, unlike the outer city, where the items available for sale are limited to certain levels and grades. If one wants to grow strong, then they have to enter the Inner City for that.

Even someone who awakened non-combat professions would strive to earn eligibility for entrance into the Inner City. This was because for them to grow powerful, they need to be rich.

Unlike combat professions, their ability to do damage would be very low and that means they have to depend on external help from various sources.

Depending on others to help means they have to pay a lot. To pay a lot, one should have a lot more. This is why non-combat professionals would not reach the levels of combat professionals except for a few.

It is not easy to earn for them as not everyone is famous enough and not everyone is rich enough to buy all the necessary items for combat.

Take me for example. My class is called Huntsman. My main weapon is Bow and Arrow, but I used the short sword more than my main weapon. This is because I can't afford to pay for the arrows that would be consumed during the battles.

Even my armour is almost non-existent to this day.

To buy all the protective gear and powerful weapons, one should have the Yaros Coins, which couldn't be brought using Tarro's currency.

It is the reason why I started with the game here with the basic supplies. I had to start from scratch. The only ones who can afford them are the ones with someone already awakened and progressed well in Yaros.

If they already has such power, then they would buy from the crafters that are already dependable, not newbies, which makes it difficult for the newbies to progress.

So the newbie crafters would stay newbies for a long time unless these old timers don't return to Yaros.

Of course, that is something that happens from time to time.

We, the people of Tarro have our problems to deal with. The power levelling in Yaros is a way to enable us to power level in Tarro. So once we reach level 60, we will stay in Tarro and level up rather than in Yaros.

Now, with a larger beast tide in the near future, I don't think anyone who was worth the salt would be wasting their time here, they would rather be levelling up in Tarro.

So, at this time, the competition would reduce but not drastically.

Unlike the combat professionals, who die a lot out there, crafting professionals don't face death every day. So there would be a lot of competition.

Anyway, that has nothing to do with me.

I am at this point nearing the status to be eligible to enter the inner city and that's all I care.

---

Speaking of status, let's properly check my new status screen.

Hmm, for some reason, its structure changed. There wasn't much change, except now the Passives got a new division for themselves.

I never heard about something like this happening. Nothing close to this was ever mentioned in the books that we had been reading all our lives.

Is there a particular reason for this?

I have no idea, but I think that it may be because I obtained many skills. So after the rank-up, the status screen automatically adjusted itself.

It's a theory but it's the only one I can think of at this moment.

There is no way for me to prove whether it is true or not. It's not like I can go out there and openly ask others about this.

I am not an idiot.

If there was a precedence of status screen changing ever, then I should have already read that in the books but I didn't.

If that wasn't mentioned, then there are only two reasons.

One is that there is no such thing happened ever before.

Second, it is a secret. If I ask anyone about this, the eyes of the higher-ups would fall on me. They would easily detect that I have multiple skills at a very early stage, which is not something that they thought to see.

I may end up becoming a slave or a lab rat. So there is no way that I would reveal my status details.

---

I have spent a lot of time here in Yaros. I should return and rest in my own bed for the night.

Though now as a Rank-1 awakener, I can stay a lot longer than before, I don't think it's best for my mind or body to spend more time here than necessary. This is after all a fake body, not my real body.

I exited Yaros, and by that, I woke up back in my house.

Once that was done, I ate dinner. I was hungry because I missed my lunch, as I was hunting to rank up as soon as possible. if I want to leave Yaros, I need to find a safe place to log out.

The place where I exit would be the same place where I would log back in. So if I log out in the wild, then when I reenter Yaros, it would be at that same place. By chance, if some dangerous monster was near when I reentered, then I would be doomed.

Though I may not die, there are some penalties, which I like to avoid. So I skipped lunch and this was not the first time I did this, which made dinner and breakfast the most important parts of my life.

Those are the only times that I would get proper food to nourish my body.

Anyway, after having dinner, I went to sleep. Though I am Rank-1, I am still very far away from achieving my goals in this life. I need to hunt as much as possible before I enter the academy.
