Chapter 24 - Kairos Strategy

"Wake up, young lilac."

The boy is rubbing his eyes with both of his hands. Then a sudden gust of air slapped his hands, disrupting him.

"Don't rub your eyes with your hands; it will make your eyes blurry eventually." Then suddenly, an exquisite aroma came out of the pot that had been boiling for a while. It's his favorite food, and the boy suddenly drooled.

"Wake up, my boy, let's eat."

The boy then jumped out of bed. Both lilacs are having their meals in a small elven house made out of wood. The boy then suddenly remembered what had happened yesterday.

"Why don't all of you stay in the palace? We have guest rooms prepared," Icarus said.

"No, I walked far away to the elven kingdom. I don't want to live in a place where we are used to being in the human kingdom. Let me and my boy live in a cozy traditional elven house."

Then the three of them—Kairos, Meyeri, and the young lilac—were brought to a home made of a single elven tree with a door in front of it. The house was decorated with lilac flowers. Kairos and the young boy were in awe of how beautiful the house was. Meyeri was delighted.

"And this is what I called an elven house!" She said.

Then they walked inside; it has stairs, which means it's a two-story house.

"I'll sleep downstairs," Kairos said.

Meyeri and young Lilac then walked upstairs.

"Let's sleep early. Tomorrow we'll be training together."

The boy was really excited, and that's what he has been recalling since yesterday. Now, he gets his favorite mushroom soup, and he will train together with her adoptive mother after. The boy then gets this gut feeling, saying that something is wrong. Normally, he will just be left behind and train with Zeus, but today she is being abnormally caring.

"Hmm, what's wrong?" Meyeri said.

He is unconsciously staring at his adoptive mother while thinking about all of those lines above. He then continued chewing his bread with his favorite soup and gulped the whole bowl of mushroom soup in one go. The boy then stood up from his chair, raring to go, showing a really enthusiastic face while standing near his adoptive mother.

"Okay, okay, let me finish this first. While waiting for me, change your clothes first; you're still in your pajamas."

The boy then ran upstairs, changing his clothes. Mey smiled, looking at the boy's attitude toward training. Mey was thinking about how she was also genuinely enthusiastic about learning magic when she was a child. Then she suddenly slapped her cheeks.

"Save that for later, Meyeri." She says to herself, then she finishes her meal, flicks her hand, and flies both bowls to the sink. At the same time, the boys finished getting ready, but he was in a mess.

"You're not getting ready like that." She then fixes his clothes, which were wrinkly all over the place.

"Now we're ready. Let's go outside."

They then walked outside; the morning breeze was soothing. They arrived at night, so they didn't recognize it, but the Elven Kingdom is truly a beautiful place. Kairos then approached them in front of the house.

"You're both awake. What a good day to be in! Do both of you want to take a look around?" Kairos said.

The boy shook his head, and Mey smiled awkwardly; she then replied

"I have promised to train him today, so I'm afraid we're going to pass on that."

The old man shrugged his white hair and said, "Ah, okay then. Oh! If you want to train, I know a place that's secluded where the knights normally train."

Mey then said, "Ah, speak of the devil, where are your knights?"

Kairos replied, "They were playing around; well, I guess they need to have a break once in a while, so I let them be."

Mey said, "Ah, okay, then. Where is the place? Could you give us direction?"

Kairos replied, "It's north-west from here, about two kilometers. You'll then find a good open spot beside the river bank. You want me to come with you?"

Mey said, "Nah, we're fine. You're on your day off; I don't want you to burden yourself with stuff."

Then Mey flicks her hand, and both of them fly outside the town, leaving Kairos behind. Kairos looked at them and smiled bitterly.

"Ah, what have I been doing?" He said to himself,

Despite the help of his former party, Icarus, things seem not to be going that well. He set up three of them in a house to make sure that Kairos would have a chance to progress his relationship. He even decorated the house in a romantic manner, with flowers around, just like a normal elven newlywed should be. They were doing this out of concern since the man has been hopelessly in love with the beautiful witch even after she got cursed and even after years of being apart.

Kairos then walks around aimlessly, but finds himself looking around. There were many elven families having a good time—families of three. Then spot a cafe nearby.

"I guess I'll just treat myself for now to some delicious Elven pastries."

Meanwhile, Mey and the young wedge fly around to find themselves in the places Kairos has mentioned. It was an open field near the river, and there were flowers blooming all around the place, with birds singing. It was a beautiful scene.

"Okay, I guess this is the place. Kairos had such good knowledge of these kinds of spots that suit my taste. Ok then, Wedge, I want you to listen closely to what I'm about to say."

The boy came close to her and listened attentively.

"We're going to go to train to walk across the river."
