Chapter 17 - Leading Party vs Exadactylus (2)

A shockwave occurred repeatedly across the grassy field. It was the duo trying to create a stalemate with the huge things. Icarus relentlessly went all out and released a flurry of slashes using the gigantic swords he held.

Icarus shouts, "WOAAAAHHHHH!"

*BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM*

The foe is making a cross-arm block, and despite all of Icarus's effort, it didn't leave a scratch. It was not because the blow is not hard enough; the changes in the sword's blade, when multiplied by size, make the edge of the sword proportionally bigger. Rendering it dull, and rather than making slashes, the sword is giving a blunt force, knocking back the foe with each strike. Icarus keeps on the flurry while thinking,

"Why isn't this monster fighting back?"

Icarus wasn't feeling tired; it's all because the support was provided by none other than Bernard. While following Icarus on each step, focusing his lumina on his feet, he followed Icarus. Guarantee that his power doesn't go down and keep casting his spell. He wasn't planning for this to happen, and rather, when he decided to come with Icarus, he thought he would do the hard hitting as well. But with the quirk that Icarus had, he decided not to join since he would be a hindrance.

Bernard chant. "By the name of the goddess of healing, Iaso, Remedy!"

After casting it for the third time, it was then that he started feeling a bit of nausea. It hasn't even been one minute yet. The frequency of the cast is due to Icarus's gigantification, which depletes his energy in a quick manner. Exadactylus didn't fail to notice and aim for the bishop, removing his cross-arm block and doing a powerful swipe with his right hand, taking all of the trees and aiming for the weak link.

Icarus said, "Oh no, you don't!"

He then cancelled out his gigantification and put all of his strength into leaping into the bishop and pushing him out of the way. Then he jumped really high to distract the giant.

Icarus said, "Let's see if you could handle this as well!"

Then he aimed to release a barrage of strikes at one of its heads. It doesn't do anything.

Icarus thought, "I guess this is it."

Exadactylus went for a counter, but before it landed on Icarus, a white mace was thrown into one of his heads, landing on its eye. Interrupting the counter. The monster mourns a bit.

Bernard shouts, "Icarus, go back!"

Icarus managed to land on the Goliath body and leap back. Bernard then ran toward it, aiming for one of its feet. He leapt and made a praying stance; he was not praying since he put in all of his lumina, and his praying hand is shining bright with his lumina. He put both of his hands above his head.

Bernard shouts, "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA."

*BOOM*

He managed to land a downward strike on its toe, smashing it into one bit. But what did it cost? It countered him with a kick, straight into his guts. Bernard was flown far away.

Icarus shouts, "BERNARD!"

After that, the toes seem to be regenerating slowly, but it is still losing its toe, making its movement sluggish. They both tried their best, but it seems there is no strength left on Icarus. But when he thinks hope is all lost, five green arrows simultaneously fly, aiming for their heads. Just to be blocked by its hand. It seems the last three have finished their preparation.

Kairos said, "Where is Bernard?"

Icarus shakes his head. "I don't know."

Kairos keeps his mind clear and sound. He knows he needed to focus on the offensive strike they prepared. Meanwhile, Meyeri threw smoke bombs on its head. It had a good response before, but now it seems the Goliath isn't panicking and is cautious about what will happen next. But it seems Meyeri isn't alone; she had five cats flying with her. She is doing a barrage of spells.

"Acid Rain! Thundershock!"

With both of those spells, the Goliath is rendered numb. Cithrel then followed up, putting two arrows on each end of her bows. Both ends of the rope were tied to the arrows, aiming one of its head sets of ears.

*FYUUNGGGGGG*

A really big noise came out when she shot. When the arrow connected, Meyeri quickly came to it and cast one of her specialties.

"Violet flame!"

Violet is the strongest type of flame that could burn trees into cinders in seconds. The flame is aimed at the ropes, which have been doused with oil and strengthened by Cithrel's lumina multiple times, causing them to be burntable but will not reduce to cinders. The eternal flame will torch its target until it is reduced to ash.

But they're not stopping yet. Kairos then ran toward the poor thing that had been torched by a violet flame. With all the momentum, he put all of his strength into a leap, flying toward its chest while readying his shield. He channeled all his lumina into the shield, causing it to be bigger than the monster itself.

"Shield bash!"

*DANG*

A really hard blunt, causing a ring. The Exadactylus toppled backward, and that's when Meyeri cast

"Wind gust!"

A gust of wind from the sky to the ground helped the downward fall of the Exadactylus. Meanwhile, Cithrel keeps shooting her specialty corkscrew arrows, aiming for its achiles and helping the giant monster down fall. When it nearly reaches the ground, Meyeri then casts an earth spell.

"Earth stalagmite!"

A big stalagmite was made, and when the stalagmite was formed, Cithrel quickly put her all into enveloping it with her lumina. The Goliath's chest was pierced; it cried and roared loudly. Then, Meyeri channeled all her lumine, making four huge connected balls of lumine the size of mountains, forming a square formation.

"Planetary thunder cross!"

*ROAAR!!!!!*

The lumine connected diagonally, forming a cross with the poor thing in the center. After it connected, the Exadactylus stopped moving. The party was exhausted, and no one could move after exhausting all of their lumina and lumine. Kairos was the only one that had the strength to move; after he connected the shield bash, he managed to absorb the impact when landing using a little bit of lumina on his feet. Meyeri flew to Cithrel, and Kairos walked into them. Icarus was walking to them as well, with his sword as a walking stick.

They were taking out the healing herb in their bag. Meyeri is pressing it into her chest, and Cithrel is pressing it to her feet.

Cithrel said, "We're lucky; everything was connected. I don't have anything left."

Meyeri said, "Ahh, I'm so beat."

Icarus said, "We need to find Bernard."

Meyeri said, "What? Where is old man Bernard?"

Icarus shakes his head. Then suddenly, there is an earthquake. All of them look behind them and see that the big corpse behind them is moving. Their faces change color quickly.

Kairos said, "No way."
