Charlotte's POV
The sun shines brightly against my window curtains, lightning up my room and reminding me that it's another day. I turned to the other side of my bed and buried my head in my pillow because I didn't feel like waking up yet. The memory of yesterday's training weakened me the most.
I know that they all will start avoiding me and I will be left out. If only I had controlled by anger yesterday. But then I know that it isn't my fault. I forced myself up and frowned my face as I walked into the bathroom.
When I was in the Lotus Pack, everyone disdained me because of my father, but, I commanded respect and fear not because they wanted to but because they had to. But regardless of what I do, I still feel left out among the pack members, especially my trainees.
They stop whatever discussion when they see me as though I'm a second class citizen. It angers me so much. However, I can't do a thing but to force them to respect me, not that I have ever enjoyed using that manner to gain respect and fear.
I can remember vividly when my mom gave birth to Ralph newly, my dad ooh, I mean Alpha Durango. He called me for a walk and bought ice cream and dolls for me, then he squatted down to my size and said while looking directly into my eyes.
"I accepted you because of your mother, but I don't want you to ever think that you're my child or try to stand in any of my future child's position.
You're only but your mother's child. Everything I do for you is to please your mother. To be Frank, I hate breeds like you. You should be grateful that I accommodated you." After saying that, he walked out, leaving me in the middle of nowhere.
As a five-year-old child, I didn't quite understand what he might. I walked behind him back to the mansion. I thought that I might have done something wrong to offend him. So I began to do everything in my power to please him. I wake as early as possible and help the maids with the food and serve his own by myself while smiling at him.
I read to be the best student in my school, but all those things I did were in vain. One day, I brought back my result from school and ran to him then excitedly showed him my result, but he pushed me off and tore it into pieces in front of everyone.
"Charlotte, I don't care, go show that to your mom! I am not your father!" He had yelled at me, and then I quivered and ran to my mom.
As a child I felt dejected and unwanted, I only wanted to be accepted, it isn't my fault that I am not my father's daughter.
I deepen myself into the bathtub and closed my eyes, I don't have to start my day with the memory of dejection. I have always been a fighter and that I will continue to be even in the face of death.
"Good morning grandluna." I greeted as I sat down on a seat farthest from hers. She nodded in response.
"Good morning, Anna, and the Alpha of the Crystal Moon Pack." I said as I can't call him my Alpha, to me, I'm the Alpha of myself, no one has the authority to govern me.
He nodded and continued eating his food, not like I wanted to hear that deceptive voice of his. At the thought of him being a deceit, I lost my appetite entirely. After taking a few spoons from my plate. I stood up and gulped down a glass of water before walking out of the dining area.
The air inside that house is so suffocating that someone can even die of it. Walking towards the training ground, I saw pack members going to their various businesses. Most with cars and some are trekking, some kids are running to school while others in pairs are jesting and walking with smiles.
All thanks to Julie, my best friend who was there for me. Though she had to travel out to her maternal pack when her dad passed away, the little time we spent together means the world to me.
I didn't even realize that I have reached in the training area. Many people have already arrived. Some were sparring with each other, while others were just warming up. I took a deep breath, "Today is really going to be a long day." I whispered to myself before walking forward into the training ground.
As though they have memorized my scent, they all turned towards me and I found myself rooted at a spot, petrified and confused on what to do.
"Hello everyone!" I said awkwardly, and they looked at themselves and let out a small laugh.
"Come on inside, you don't have to act weird" A lady said, I walked in with a forced smile on my lips.
"Charlotte, you're really a good fighter, why aren't you a ranked soldier and the Alpha knows that you're more qualified than the commander then why did he ask you to train under him!" Another asked, and honestly, I don't have an answer to that.
"Hey, guys let's not make it awkward for her, come let's spar together with a sword, I hope you know how to?" JK asked and I nodded.
He handed over a sword to me and we both took our stance, he lodged at me and I dodged his attack. Just this single move from him already made me aware of the fact that they haven't been taught the techniques in sparring as I have mastered over the years. Well, they're not to be blamed, as I started training at the age of fifteen.
He kept lodging at me and I kept dodging his attacks, and he was beginning to get irritated by that just when I wanted to get serious with the sparring. "Today's training will be an intense one!" I turned to the voice and saw a man standing beside Joe, who I'm sure haven't fully recovered.
"Charlotte!" The man shouted, and I walked towards him while making eye contact with him.
"You will help train the others, as we've come to the conclusion that you're well-trained." The man said, and I nodded.
"Which aspect do you want to take them on?" He asked.
"Sparing with sword." I replied and he nodded.
"Now everyone, put on your armor and take your swords!" He announced, and everyone scattered into the changing room.
"I apologize for saying those words to you and starting a fight yesterday." Joe apologized again and I nodded.
"I apologize for disrespecting you" we shook hands with smiles and I felt so relieved afterward.
It's been a week since I started helping Joe out, even though he has fully recuperated. He still insists that I be the second commander. Today happens to be one of those days that we train our ass out. I'm so exhausted and the only thing in my mind right now is to eat and sleep.
But Just as I stepped my foot into the Alpha's Mansion, I saw everyone with a deep frown running hither scatter and Luna's voice as loud as a trumpet. I made my way to the kitchen and saw Grace scattering the whole place as though searching for a missing diamond.
"What's happening here?" I asked and she stood up.
"We have a great problem." She said with a creased forehead. "The Alpha's ancestry staff is Missing."
