Queen Helena moved stealthily through the dimly lit corridors of her palace, guided only by the feeble glow of sash lamps at either end. The palace was shrouded in an eerie silence, punctuated by the distant echo of approaching footsteps. At times, Queen Helena found herself instinctively hiding in the shadows, heart racing as the sounds drew nearer.
Having eluded the palace guards, she remained on high alert, monitoring every patrol's movements as they crisscrossed the palace grounds. Queen Helena was a woman with a purpose, and she would stop at nothing to achieve her goal.
"Queen Helena?" a hushed voice suddenly whispered from behind her.
Startled, Queen Helena nearly stumbled, having failed to detect the approaching figure. Panic surged through her until she recognized the voice. "David! What are you doing here?" She placed a trembling hand over her racing heart.
David replied in a low voice, "I'm coming with you."
