Several hours and multiple books later, Amari sat hunched over the desk trying to understand the sheer significance of what he'd just read.
The most important would perhaps have to be about the world he'd landed in. Heavomar. It was named that way by people who thought it was the only world cared for by the gods. Amari scoffed at that ridiculous notion but read on anyway.
It was perhaps the most boring and enlightening book of the stack, yet he couldn't bring himself to drop it just yet.
All these things, he might never have learned of them so quickly without the help of this book.
The feuds between the demons and the humans, and the shaky alliance between the elves and the demons. Everything was quite unlike anything Amari had initially expected. There were far more prominent races in the world apart from the generic fantasy ones.
In fact, the most common race in the world wasn't any of the normal fantasy species he was used to reading about.
The Viceans were a race he'd never heard of before. They were large humanoid beings far stronger than humans and they reproduced like rabbits. The average Vicean male had about six children give or take.
They were everywhere, and they could easily be taken for humans or demons for that matter.
Viceans could reproduce with basically every race in existence, making them number far and wide. Some had horns, some didn't. Some had different skin colours than the norm, some didn't.
It was extremely difficult to tell Viceans apart from ordinary races except for the one defining feature that anyone with an even slightly keen eye would be able to notice.
Which was nothing other than their abnormally long hair!
But it was difficult to see Viceans in other territories anymore. Some said they migrated north to build their own kingdoms, others said they no longer cared and cut their own hairs. A lot of nonsensical stuff but he appreciated it.
Amari immersed himself in the culture of the world until he switched to the next book. It was pretty much the same as the first one but with a little more detail regarding the Kingdoms and Empires of the world.
He tossed this book to the side as well only after skimming lightly.
As he read, he didn't know how to comprehend the new troves of information he was getting. Som part of him wanted to wait and digest and analyze, but the sensible part of him told him that he had no time for that.
So, he moved on to everything magic. First the compendiums and collections of skills under Shadow, Dream and Night Element.
Shadow didn't need to be explained, and so did dream. But Night and Nightmare though? He wasn't so sure about those ones.
And unfortunately for him, neither was anyone else in Heavomar. The Night element wasn't discussed since it was so rare and the same basically went for the Nightmare Element. He was lucky to even find the books about them.
"Whatever," He muttered, diving into the throve of knowledge immediately.
Shadow Steal.
Shadow Dagger.
Shadow Tools.
Shadow Summon.
As he read further his eyes glazed over with an intense amount of greed as he recalled his brother and the rest of his Shadow Dweller Wolf family. Finally, after so long he would be able to have shadow skills!
Then his eyes fell to the bottom of the page.
"Full skills are not available within this compendium. Please refer to a skill library for that."
Amari almost let out a yell in the library but managed to hold himself back. Of course, it had a catch. Why did he not anticipate that?
He sighed, putting the book down and moving on to the other ones.
"Rulers of the World: About the Gods."
Who were the gods?
Supposedly, they were all seeing, all-knowing beings who watched over all of Heavomar and granted powers to their select followers to fight for them while they lived in their Divine kingdoms.
He nodded at the description. They were basically a more hands-on version of God on Earth.
Amari really couldn't care less. It wasn't as if he was ever some mega-religious person. He believed in books. In all books that told the truth.
His eyes fluttered rapidly as he skipped through a few pages of absolutely nothing until he finally came to his goal.
1. Renias, the Holy One- God of Light
2. The Keeper of the Earth- Goddess of Nature
3. The One Hidden in the Shadows- Goddess of Darkness
4. The Primal- God of the Beasts
5. The Chaos That Never Sleeps- God of Demons
6. The Eternal Sleeper- Goddess of Dreams
7. The Keeper of the Graveyard- God of Death
8. The Never-stopping Fire- God of Emotion
9. Tesla, The Light of Knowledge- God of Knowledge and Technology
10. The Mother of All- Goddess of Life
Deorum Decem. Also known as the ten major gods.
His eyes lingered on the terrifying titles and stopped on one in particular.
Tesla. He was the only god with a name marked to him.
Supposedly it wasn't the god's Truename, but Amari wasn't inclined to believe that such coincidences could even exist. He remembered the mysterious being's words and stared at the name even longer.
"Whatever. Even if Tesla himself were here, he wouldn't be able to help me achieve my goals. But this Goddess of Life and the God of Death… they are the ones I need to meet to bring them back to life,"
An unbelievable plan formulated in Amari's mind as he read through the book over and over again. No matter how many times he read, it wouldn't be enough.
'Life... Death. I'm coming for the both of you.'
Finally, an hour later he reached for the last book, and before and after reading it, his questions only increased.
Who were these Secret Entities? Why didn't they want divinity? And why did three of them have such a keen interest in him?
Somehow, those questions only intensified after reading the book.
