Amari was nearly two times more excited for today than he was through the whole week. It was Flintday; the Heavomar equivalent of Friday, meaning it was the only day of the week when he had his second-year class.
"Thank you, mysterious entity!" He raised his arms up to the air and celebrated joyously as he walked out of the dorm room.
Between Cluez and the first years, Amari didn't know what was more annoying. He paused in his stride from that question but quickly came to a decision.
'It's both of them!'
With that, he headed up the stairs to the second-year area which was pretty much restricted for anyone below that class. Truthfully, Amari could have gone to the area since the first day of class, he just didn't see the point at the time.
He took each step carefully, making sure to not bump into someone, but it was as easy as it sounded. There weren't a lot of second years in the first place so he didn't have to worry about bumping into someone.
Or so he thought…
"Hey watch where you're going man!" A dark voice said to his side and only then did Amari notice the dark haired gloomy youth he was stepping on.
The youth frowned unpleasantly, but that look seemed to be natural for him. Amari eyed the goth fellow for a while longer; from his long hair that almost covered half his face, to the nearly all-black outfit.
He stepped back quickly, furiously apologising then swerving around to continue walking forward.
The very brief interaction replayed in his head until he got to class. Who was that gloomy dude? He looked like someone he knew had just died.
The same questions stuck on repeat over and over again. But the most important one would probably bug him longer than he would anticipate.
"Where did that guy come from in the first place?"
Unwilling to think about it any longer, he tossed the thoughts to the back of his weapon and merely concentrated on reaching the lecture hall in time for the class to start. After the incidents with Cluez and SilverOak he figured the best time to come for class was "just on time".
Not early. Not late. He wouldn't make the same mistake of falling into any professor's traps again.
But luckily none of the other Professors proved to be extremely problematic, most of them were just like Professor Jack from his non-combat magic classes, which was nothing short of fortunate for him.
Amari kept on walking and without him even realising, he'd already reached the second-year lecture room. The door was wide open which was something odd even in this school of demons.
He ignored it and scanned the room for everyone he knew. A second later, a familiar crowd of heads and peculiar skin colour reached his vision. There they were!
They noticed him almost at the same time, but only Lilia stood up to go meet him. His gaze drifted to Isla as that happened, but the gothic Ifrit girl looked away in an instant. Amari shrugged the strange occurrence off, and walked over to them quickly.
"Hey, how have you been?!" Lilia exclaimed, leaning forward with a wide, enthusiastic grin on her face.
Amari, didn't block her advance this time around, being more excited to see her after a straight week with those first years.
"Ah, I'm good. What about you?" he responded, walking to the seat with her in tow.
After making sure was disturbed by his presence, he sat down on the long chair and looked at everyone carefully
Ken, Isla, Geryon and Mel… those were the only ones he could remember at least.
Lilia giggled, pinching him a little "I should be asking you that, dummy,"
Amari had already begun responding when Ken butted in, giving Lilia a mischievous stare.
"She's been going on and on about you the whole time," he laughed, fake-whistling as he stared at the rapidly flushing girl.
"Eh, don't listen to him. Anyways, what did you do to Mr Cluez?!"
The question was a little strange because he felt that her words contained genuine curiosity. And the rest of the demons seemed interested too. They sat up, all eyes facing him. They looked more eager to learn this information than they were to see him.
Meanwhile, Amari's brows furrowed at the mention of Cluz even if it were just to share information.
"That guy? He asked us to demonstrate elemental spells and passed everyone except me," he said, rolling his eyes, "And when I asked him why, you know what he said? Because I felt like it!"
A minute of silence erupted between the demons but after a while they all started laughing. Even Isla!
"What's so funny?!" Amari asked, puffing his chest and pretending to be extremely angry.
This time, Ken was the one who answered. The orange-skinned Ifrit wiped the imaginary tears off his eyelids, playing along with Amari.
"Don't worry about it, man. Mr. Cluez is a pretty funny man when you've been to enough of his classes. He also doesn't usually fail anybody, but after those, he never really ends up failing them in the next classes. It's sort of a running gag with him,"
Amari still didn't like the sound of that. In the end, Cluez only failed him because he was messing with him!
"Whatever, I don't really care anyway." He lied, switching the topic, "Hey Lilia, if I remember correctly you still owe me a favour!"
Lilia stopped moving, dazed and all the Ifrits seemed to remember about that in an instant.
"Oh, yeah! I forgot all about that. Do you want to call it in now?" She asked, blinking her eyes innocently.
"Nah, I'll-"
Just as he was about to speak, a deep, booming voice interrupted.
The demon spoke, walking down the steps and heading to the stage from the student door. As he reached the stage, the door closed with loud bangs, locking a small number of tardy students out.
"That is enough of the small talk. This is my class and I do not encourage side chatter. So limit your words while in my presence" the demon speaking said, adjusting the tie on his dress suit, then placing his hands in his pocket.
Everyone stopped talking instantly, sitting upright as they looked at the man.
"Desirable. How desirable. Some of you…" He paused, eyes distinctly stopping above Amari's head which everyone noticed, "Not so much. Well, besides that we're only here to talk about one thing!
"My name is Professor Nichols'Fulaxolotl (Do not ask me to pronounce this shit lmaooo). And I will be your professor to this course that I reckon will change the rest of your magical journeys forever.
"Without further ado, I say we dive into this wonderful new world of Spell Creation…"
