Kalina forced the horses to redouble their pace. The sunlight was dying, and they still had to find a proper place to spend the night. The Kru attack had delayed their trip, of course. However, thanks to Irion's help, they were weeks ahead.
Once Kal swept away Osiris, Valian had interrogated the other two ringleaders, who were still standing. While the interrogation was going on, Kalina checked on Zintia and Lala. She found the maid looking pale. However, the girl had responded without hesitation to Kalina that everything was fine.
For her part, Zintia continued to sleep. And Kalina and Lala were beginning to get restless about that.
