"Noo! Dexter!" Annika rushed in and screamed, when she saw him lying helplessly and breathing, incessantly.
She threw the files away,as they went flying at different angles.
Annika then rushed to him, knelt before him and pulled him up to her legs.
"Dexter is asthmatic?" She questioned herself.
"Where the hell is your inhaler!?" She screamed. Dexter began pointing to his bag, where it is.
Annika left him,and in a swift, she got the bag.
She opened it,and searched through crazily, but didn't see it. So,she emptied the whole bag onto the floor.
That was when she saw it. She picked it up immediately, and ran back to him.
She shook it first, before taking it to his mouth, where he inhaled the medicine and he breathing started reducing, but he was still gasping though. So,Annika gave him another puff.
Annika pulled his head to her shoulder this time, making him sit up straight, cos that's one of the right things to do to help.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"What would have happened to him if I had not come?" She questioned herself, as she stared at his face pitifully.
Annika actually came to drop files for signing.
Plus, she also came to say sorry for what happened yesterday, only to meet the scene.
"Dexter...are you okay?" She asked worriedly, but he couldn't reply her,due to how weak he felt, plus the gasping.
She gave him another puff, then made him rest well on her shoulder,as they both sat on the floor.
"Th...anks" He said amidst gasps, shocking Annika completely.
Proud arrogant jerk just said thank you to her.
She thought he'd start saying"I didn't ask you to help me".
"It's fine,I'm glad you're alright. But can you keep your inhaler close to you, always?" She said.
Dexter nodded this time. Though his breathing has reduced a bit, but he has not fully regained himself.
Thank goodness his attacks are always mild,so it doesn't take much time for him to get himself back.
He wasn't done thinking, when Annika slapped his forehead and Dexter flinched.
"You proud jerk! Don't you have sense?
"Don't you know your inhaler should always be with you,and not in your stupid bag?" She yelled, like a mother yelling at her five years old child who has just done something wrong.
"It's always in my pant pockets, I just forgot it in my bag, okay?" He replied calmly.
"Why won't you forget it in your bag, when all you think and dream of is to fire people, and be a proud jerk!" Annika snapped, and flicked his forehead.
"Ouch! Are you here to help or kill me?" He said, weakly.
"All of the above, whichever one you want,I will gladly give it to you.
"So do you want to die or live?" She asked like a crazy person.
"Are you in sane!? Of course I want to live" Dexter growled.
"Then shut up and take another puff" She barked, and gave him another puff.
"You're such a wicked doctor" Dexter said,weakly.
"Are you still talking?" She slapped him again, and he winced.
"I am not your doctor, but your Secretary. Get that into your proud head,in case you've forgotten" She rolled eyes.
"I will never forget my inhaler in my bag again" He muttered lowly.
"Better" Annika replied sharply, cos she actually heard him.
"But I've never known you to be asthmatic, since when, and what happened?" She asked curiously.
"I don't want to talk about it" Dexter replied like a whisper.
Annika looked at him, feeling really bad for him.
She stayed with him in that position, giving him more puffs until she was sure he had regained himself fully.
"I need to go back to my office" She said, raised his head off her shoulder, and helped him get up from the floor.
She handed his inhaler back to him, looked at the messy place, and shook her head.
First, she picked up the things she emptied from his bag,and arranged them back neatly, then returned the bag to where it was.
She started picking the files one after the other, till she picked them all up.
Dexter just sat back watching her while doing that, but he said nothing though.
He doesn't know why,but he feels very grateful to her for saving his life.
He would have died for sure,if she had not come in time. Cos his breathing was starting to cease slowly already.
After Annika was done picking them, she dropped them on his desk.
Their eyes met,but Annika quickly looked away, and maintained a serious face, then rolled eyes at him.
He shook his head, and stared at her.
"Files for signing" She simply said, and dropped them. He nodded.
"I will be in my office" She said again, and left immediately.
"Crazy b**ch,can't believe she saved my life.
"But how can she be nice, crazy and wicked at the same time? My forehead hurts so much " He complained, touching his hurting forehead tenderly.
"She slapped me again,b**ch" He shook his head, but surprisingly chuckled.
He then stood up from his chair, weakly and went to his emergency room, changed his clothes and came back.
He rested his back well on his swivel chair.
"Wendy..." He muttered sadly, as a bitter thought enveloped his heart.
But he shrugged it off,and dozed off immediately on the chair.
^^GRAHAM'S RESIDENCE ^^
"I finally have a job now" Brielle said, excitedly.
She's been looking for a job for as long as she can remember, even if it's a job as a cleaner.
She just wants something doing,so her mom can stop nagging and insulting her everyday.
"Avery! I got a job, finally!" She screamed in Avery's ears,as she enters the house.
"You're so buying champagne for us" Avery jokingly said, chuckling.
"Jeez! I haven't even started work yet, where will I get money for champagne?" Brielle laughed, and she laughed too.
"I don't care,just buy it let's pop" Avery laughed.
"I am happy for you,Brielle. At least, mom would stop nagging too much about you being jobless" Avery said, and smiled.
"Thanks, sis. I hope so too" Brielle smiled broadly and sat down on the couch.
It wasn't long before Martha came into the sitting room too with her usual looks.
She eyed Brielle immediately their eyes met,and Brielle sighed.
"Mom,I have a job now" She smiled happily.
"Good for you,at least you can leave my house now,and go stay on your own" She said coldly.
"Mom,can't you be happy with me for once? Why must everything I do piss you up?" Brielle asked sadly.
"Leave my house, that's the only way you will stop pissing me up" Martha eyed her.
"Mom!" Avery shouted, looking at her angrily.
"Shut up,before I meet you there" She shot at Avery. Avery rolled eyes and shook her head vehemently.
"Birds of a feather" She hissed and went into the kitchen.
"Pay no attention to her" Avery said to Brielle. She nodded and smiled.
"Why didn't you go to work?" Brielle asked, curiously.
"Today is my off day. I just want to stay home to chill and relax" She said, stylishly fanning herself.
"Silly" Brielle said, and they both laughed.
"You actually need the rest,Ave" She chuckled.
"I seriously do. What job did you get though?" Avery asked.
"A receptionist job in a boutique" She replied, with a big smile.
"Wow! That's cool. Free designers clothes for me then" Avery joked again, and Brielle laughed.
"Avery,I want to ask you about something, and please do not lie to me" Brielle suddenly said, after they were quiet for a moment.
"Okay....I'm listening" Avery furrowed,as she waits eagerly to know what the question would be.
"Why does mom hate me so much,is there anything I did wrong, that I can't even remember I did?
Because I don't understand why she's always upset with me for no reason.
"Tell me,Avery. Am I really her daughter, are we sisters for real?" Brielle asked with all seriousness.
"Brielle....? Avery called slowly.
