Anna quickly left the room as it had become suffocating. Why did Marcos not ask Elizabeth about what happened last night? Did he perhaps know about it?
She went into the bathroom and stood in front of the sink. She pushed some strands of her hair behind her ears before turning on the tap and splashed cold water on her face.
She looked at her reflection in the mirror. The contact lens was fixed properly.
"Nothing would go wrong during the hunt." She assured herself. Her wings had not grown out in a long time now and she had her bath to remove her old skin last week. Her skin was still glowing and hadn't turned rough and scaly.
Pulling the small towel, she dabbed her face before stepping out of the bathroom. She would do her best to avoid trouble today.
Meanwhile at the other side of the room, Marcos turned to his step-mother who was looking through the windows of the room. He made sure not to alert Elizabeth as she was busy eating her food.
"She nearly opened her door last night." Marcos whispered.
"That maid!" Charlotte gritted her teeth with anger. "How did you able to get out of the mess?"
"It was not her fault. It was all because of the butler. He didn't feed her before she went to bed." He muttered. "I had to compel Anna from knowing anything."
"Thank goodness. I was already afraid that we will be exposed." She glanced at her daughter before tearing gaze from her. "I was thinking of hiring a governess for her."
"Go on but we careful. We cannot take another risk again." He warned her.
"Not an ordinary one. A demon... One who would be able to help her—" Charlotte paused when her daughter met eyes with her. She smiled at Elizabeth before walking out of the room.
Anna left the room to tell Victoria she would be going out today. Once she was done, she went into Elizabeth's room and found Marcos and Lucian.
"Are you ready?" Elizabeth asked.
"Yes." She nodded.
"Okay then. We should start going." They all walked out of the room. Anna held the bag containing snacks and drinks with one hand as she walked behind them.
"Can you ride a horse?" Lucian asked when they reached outside.
She nodded her head. "Yes." She remember the time Lady Gaga taught her how to ride the horse whenever they went to meet her Lady friend who had some horse.
Just then, a man approached Marcos at the entrance of the house.
"One of the horses died this morning. It is just two left." The man told her.
"Anna would be riding with me. Elizabeth.... join Lucian." Marcos replied, looking at Anna.
They brought two white horse from the stable and Lucian wasted no time in jumping on it.
Marcos offered a hand to Anna but she was hesitant in taking it.
"We don't have time." Elizabeth said to her.
She slowly took his hand and he pulled her to sit in his back. The man handed the reins of horse to Lucian and Marcos. He moved his leg to start the horse and Anna could feel her heart skip each time their bodies collided.
"Hold me tight." He said to her when the horse began to move.
She was hesitant at first but when the horse started to gallop when they came out of the gates, she didn't know when she held onto him tightly.
Lucian was ahead of them at first but then Marcos started to move faster and was far ahead of him. The cold air brushed through her face and she could feel her hair coming to block her eyes. The air slammed onto her with heavy force. She shivered at the cold and cursed herself for not wearing a jacket. She was never good with the cold as her skin was fragile dealing with it.
As they moved passed the thick forest, Anna remembered the time she was running away from the men trying to kill her after her mother died. That day she woke up to an unfamiliar environment. Lady Gaga had offered her food to eat but she cried remembering her mother had killed herself.
The horse continued to move and Anna was afraid of falling even though she held onto him tightly.
"Have you ever gone to hunt for fairies before?" She heard Marcos speak to her.
She was one. Why would she hunt for her kind?
"No. I feel like they're creatures with soul in them. Hunting for them and using them for selfish purpose it bad." She tried to convince him.
"I know it's bad. I have talked to my brother about it. But then again, Elizabeth needs it for something important." He told her. "Not only for cosmetic but something else."
Her eyebrows furrowed. She wondered what would happen to her when they find out she was a fairy. She had been to a couple of cosmetic stores and the women there only purchase products made from a fairies wings.
Their most expensive clothing was made from the skin of a fairy. They treated them with no remorse. Like they were used for cosmetic and nothing more than that. Her mother had died all because she was a fairy. Her father..... She didn't get to see him before her birth.
"You think about it as if you were one." He commented.
She paused her lips and choosing to stay quiet. She would have to watch them hunt down a fairy and take it home for their use.
This man was heartless, Anna thought. For a man who had been killing so many maidens and even dared to bury their bodies in the Mansion, she dreaded talking to him.
They rode through the darker path of the forest. It was long and narrow with tall trees covering it. The path led to a place where some group of fairies live. Anna could feel the blood on her neck rush to her face as the horse rode slowly through the place. She knew this place. She had dreamt about it when she was like twelve years old.
Riding through this place, seems as if she had been here a couple of times.
Once the horse stopped moving, they stepped out of it. Anna looked around with fear engulfed her. This forest was not an ordinary one. There was powers bestowed in it. Some forbidden magic she had heard from her mother in her dreams was in here.
