Chapter 26 - Chapter 26

Valentino's POV

The library was the first location that came to mind. At the opposite end of the hallway was my own library. Usually, no one went there, not even Martha or Regina. I enjoyed doing the cleanup myself. It was my personal area.

As soon as I entered the enormous, lavish library, I was dragged inside and my body was slapped against a bookshelf.

Caylee slammed her lips against mine in an ungrateful and demanding manner, and I heard some books fall to the floor.

She grabbed the collar of my shirt and prevented me from denying her. I was well known to her. I gave her a passionate kiss in return as she began to undo the buttons on my shirt.

"Caylee, not right now," I sputtered as she continued to kiss any part and anywhere she could.

"Val," I need you so badly. I long for your touch. Right now, I need to feel you. She threw my shirt on the ground and rubbed her hands over my torso, muttering, "I don't care about anything or anyone."

In an effort to stifle the impulse to rip off her clothing and give her what she wanted, I grabbed her hands and stopped her. I also desired it.

Caylee, no. When I said, "Everyone is right outside," she frantically broke free.

"Valentino," this is not about everybody. You're still upset with me. You used to have no concern for the populace. That is not an excuse my guy would ever make.

If you don't want it, I understand. Abandon me. I could care less. I believed my apology was sufficient, but it appears you have other ideas. Here, I'm done. I'm leaving, she yelled.

"Baby," hold on. I told her, obstructing her exit, It's not like that.

Why should I continue? For some reason, you've been ignoring me the entire time.

Let me share something with you now, Val. You belong to me and no one else. Whoever stands in our way will suffer the consequences. Just a heads-up, Valentino. I know you wouldn't leave me for Myrah. I'll do her harm. If you ever have any dealings with her behind my back, I will ruin her life.

Every word she spoke was genuine. She was completely serious. She was incredibly capable; I knew that. She had previously thrown herself at me and almost driven over Sasha. She had a strong desire for me. I adored it but was also afraid of her resentment.

My only woman is you, Caylee. Nobody will ever stand in our way. Don't say that, Caylee. I know you are a decent person, and you would never hurt someone. As I kissed her forehead, I said.

Valentino Alexander, you have two options: make out with me now or let me go. She murmured, rubbing her fingers across my lips, "I'm dead serious."

I forced myself to swallow a tempting offer, but it felt unjust. I kept coming to a stop. I'd just spent time with Myrah. It would appear as though I was merely using her. Myrah shouldn't have felt used; that was my goal. I gave her neck a willing kiss rather than utilize her.

I made an excuse: "I don't have a condom."

She said, "I'm on the pill," and we immediately went insane.

She was lying on a table a short while later, and I was standing over her. I really lost my composure. I was powerless to resist.

My chances were slim. She captured us in the act. She was standing just outside the doorway, her eyes bulging with conflicting feelings that I couldn't make out.

She turned around and hastily diverted her eyes from us. When we came to a stop, I rose up and zipped up my jeans. Caylee got to her feet and got dressed.

"I apologize. I apologize; there was nothing but sadness in her voice as she said, "I didn't mean to disturb you."

No problem, Myrah. Why are you even here? You know, nobody is permitted here, Caylee replied as she combed her hair.

I had no idea, I apologize. I only wanted to give you two a call. The others have already left.

We'll be there right away. She gave her the okay to depart, and Myrah did so right away.

I turned to face the beaming Caylee.

Did you really need to frighten her in that way? She seemed unconcerned when I inquired.

In actuality, I spoke less than I had planned to. She is a snoop. She needs to learn to respect her boundaries. She'll be aware of her place now that she has seen us together. Baby, you are great.

I was hesitant to respond to her. Her statements fueled the rage I was already experiencing. She didn't have to witness us in such an uncomfortable situation.

I reached for my shirt and redid it. I got some button assistance from Caylee. I wasn't even sure who was to blame for the situation. Each finger was pointing at me.

Val, I want you to know that there is no other man in my life besides you. Please be at ease since I will never make the same mistake again.

Yes, Caylee. I'm hoping I won't look back on this with regret. You have my trust, Caylee.

Caylee told me, "rest assured you won't," and we followed her outside to join the group.

Myrah's visage was expressionless, as if nothing had happened. As my chauffeurs transported everyone to their destinations, we said goodbye and waved them off.

Only Myrah and I remained. She and I needed to speak.

"Can we talk Myrah?" she softly nodded.

By the time we got there, the round table was already clean. She wasn't giving me a look.

Myrah, take a look at what transpired between us.

I understand your regret. I also regret it and wish it had never occurred. Everything was my fault. I made you do it. I made a mistake. I swear it won't happen again. I'll remain quiet about it and act as if it never occurred.

Myrah, you are making me say things. I wasn't coerced by you. I approached you and...

"Valentino,' you're not required to lie to me any longer. You don't need to be concerned about offending me. There is no changing the truth.

Is this related to what you witnessed at the library?

"No." I wasn't supposed to see that. I sincerely apologize.

"Myrah, I can explain."

Valentino, there is nothing to explain. I don't expect an explanation from you. Your girlfriend is her. I have no authority to speak.

Are you in pain? Feeling abused? She looked at me and smiled when I asked.

"No."

"So, are we all right?"

"Yes," she answered.

I assumed the conversation was done when Myrah looked at the ring she was wearing and then took it off, setting it down on the table. Myra removed her wedding ring.

Myrah, what does this mean?

I've made up my mind not to wear our wedding ring any more, so I'm returning it to you.

"Why?"

It keeps sliding off, I swear. I didn't want to lose it because I know it must be expensive.

"Let's go right now and get you another one." You are free to select whatever ring you desire.

"Avoid worrying." I've already got one. I'll put that one in its place.

"Myrah," why are you acting like this? I've been disrespectful to you from the beginning, but I'm trying to change.

You are adaptable, and don't say you're sorry. That is irrelevant in any case. I heard Kyle will be sending your dad here, "she said abruptly.

Oh, right. He will visit us tomorrow.

He comes off as really polite. I like him, even though I'm not sure if he will.

"He does," I said.

Let's see. I stopped her and put the ring on her right hand as she said, "See you around then."

I am aware that it is a wonderful fit. Please put it on.

"I'll put mine on

when you put yours on."

Retain it.

Then she walked away. I lost her before I ever had her, I was already losing her.
