For the moment, Edgar stood as stiff as a board as he was very frustrated with his fellow Light. After taking a breath, he snapped his fingers to his advisors. Athena was gently released, and then she ran to her mate. Once she was with him, Seth and his advisors got out of there with her before anyone else would or could stop them.
"What are you going to do with the three of them?" Danny asked, staring directly at Kai.
"Detain them." Kai wasn't tentative about his final decision for Brandon, Bella, and Roxy.
"Very well. Our presence is no longer required," Danny concluded, addressing Edgar before he vanished with his advisors.
Edgar and his five advisors didn't leave as they watched Kai grab Bella by her hair, bending her neck to the side.
"You detained everyone we loved for nothing!" Bella spat. "We surrendered!"
"You were too young to understand, and now you weren't intelligent enough to stay hidden from us," Kai growled, and then he sank his teeth into her neck.
She screamed bloody murder as he drank every ounce of her blood until she looked like an Ancient mummified corpse, and my mind suddenly felt clear and free from her siren.
Once her body was plunged into the snow, Kai moved down the line to detain Roxy. She screamed no differently than her twin sister. As he drank her dryer than a shriveled fruit, Brandon flared his wings up through his clothes from his shoulder blades. The sharp edge of his wings struck Ivan and Jack in the neck, cutting them. Seizing his opportunity, he escaped them as he fully unfurled and extended his long-breathtaking wings before he jumped off the cliff. And I merely sidestepped out of his way with Kai's help when he tugged me into his arms.
We all watched as he flew into the night blue sky as he got smaller from gaining the distance from getting away.
Kai stood next to me as he wrapped his trench coat over my shoulders since I was shivering from the cold, and his coat fitted like a tent on me.
Instead of going after him, everyone only watched Brandon escape, but then another vampire attacked him from the side. By the end of the short scuffle, one of the vampires plummeted to the bottomless sea below.
Coming our way, Evan landed his feet on the cliff while his face was smeared in Brandon's blood. "It's finished," he confirmed, and Kai nodded his head with a satisfied gesture.
As two guardians throw Bella's and Roxy's bodies over the cliff, I merely whisper as I watch the waves swallow them whole. "Is what you did to their Coven true?"
Kai coldly elucidated, "Their grandfather and Darlene's grandfather were with the group of vampires who attacked Emily Mill the night my parents found out they were destined mates. Shortly after the Second World War was over, the Silverdawn Coven retreated their help the day Darlene's Coven had fallen to defeat by us, but Grandpa Vlad wasn't about to let them off the hook for ruining his friendship with Morbius Mill after what Headmaster Silverdawn's son and his friends did to Emily, so we wiped them out, and we took little to none as slaves. Bella, Roxy, and Brandon are perfect examples as to why you don't spare any immortal child because they grow up seeking revenge."
"She'll be heartbroken. This is all my fault," it suddenly dawned on me as I remembered what Mia said after I woke up last night from being attacked by Andrew.
"Mia allowed Bella, Roxy, and Brandon to escape because they were only two teenage vampiresses and one vamp baby," I refuted, collecting the truth, and Kai shook his head.
"Mia was too kind-hearted to do what needed to be done," he merely mumbled, and I couldn't help but feel something was wrong.
When I tried to touch his hand, he drew away and gave me the cold shoulder, and then he turned his back on me, which greatly angered me to the core of my heart.
"You never told me they abducted Stella!' I snapped. "You never said you knew the whole time!"
Kai turned back my way and summed it up, "Mia confirmed my hunch on Friday when she didn't smell Brandon's scent on you because he covered it with an extract plant I've told you about that is illegal to use. On Monday, in the office document files, I found out the real Stella's brother had already died, which is how I also knew. Everything fell together for me by Friday."
"Yet you said nothing about it to me!" I spat, disheartened at him.
"The less you know, the safer you are," Kai claimed.
"I'm tired of your secrets!" I snarled, chattering my teeth together from the blistering cold. Every bone in my body was shivering uncontrollably from the brumal breeze.
"Someone take her home," he ordered, completely ignoring me before he walked away.
"No, I'm not leaving until you tell me why you are acting distant with me?" I put my foot down before Kai veered around, glaring at me.
"You don't think I can't feel that your feelings for Orlando have sparked!" he spat, not hiding his fangs.
"I don't love hi—"
"You still love the man he pretended to be! And you don't think I can't see through that or even feel it? You called for him and jumped! You couldn't even hear me!" Kai snapped as a mixture of sorrow and irritation flooded through his emotions.
"Kai, please, I was under her spell. My head is clear now that she's gone," I cooed, taking small steps to reach his hand while everyone else watched us closely because his temper was mercurial and unhinged from his unstable emotions.
"Don't!" Kai snapped, harshly throwing my hand aside as Evan intervened by pulling me back. "I can't be near you right now!"
He turned his back on me like he did in my time gap. His hand stretched forth. Crazy wind picked up as the tranquil forest filled with spooky sounds and creaks came from the flimsy branches.
"Kai, please don't leave!" I cried out as Evan and Glenn kept me from going anywhere near him.
"He's not stable!" Evan voiced over the thrashing and whistling wind as Kai walked through the sparkling rays of light.
Rome, Jack, Ivan, and most of his guardians went flying inside the portal before it shut completely.
"Give him space. Once his head clears, he'll return," Glenn said, hugging me in his arms as Edgar frowned at the situation before he vanished like a mirage with his advisors.
"Get her home before she catches pneumonia," Evan ordered Glenn, Ace, and whoever else didn't go with Kai. Glenn picked me up in his arms, and then dashed us out of there.
