Chapter 27 - **Ch 27: An Honorable Guest

Once we arrived back home, the Butler informed Kai. "Your father is waiting for you in his office."

After Kai and his advisors waited for me to take off my winter boots, he grasped my hand into his, and then he took the fast route by hopping us there in no time. Already waiting for us inside the office were Kai's parents and his dad's five advisors, plus, there was also an honorable guest. Headmaster Edgar and his five advisors stood up from the opposite couch across from Mr. and Mrs. Collin.

"Victoria, I am so glad you're okay," Mrs. Collin hugged me as I stared past her shoulder and peered in awe at the presence of Headmaster Edgar since this was the first time I had met him in person, so I was a little stunned to see him.

The only other time I had seen him was when I was inside my time-gap that Kai controlled so he could show me the First Generation Headmasters rising from the planet he was born on, while he also showed me why the Collin Coven became enemies with the Mill Coven. Headmaster Edgar was a Light species, and he arose with Vlad Collin, Vincent O'Donnell, who was Mrs. Collin's father, and Morbius Mill, who was Orlando's grandfather, plus he's the Headmaster of the Mill Coven. I reminisced to myself as Mrs. Collin cupped my face between her palms.

"I'm so sorry that this happened to you," Mrs. Collin added as she held in her teary-eyed emotions.

"I'm okay, I promise," I reassured her.

After she hugged me one last time, I overheard Kai say to the Headmaster, "I'm assuming you don't bring good news with your visit."

"I suggest we should have a seat," Edgar implied, having a faint smile.

Kai and I sat on the couch with his parents as Edgar took a seat on the couch across from us. Behind Edgar, I saw Duncan go out onto the balcony with his father. Ever since Kai's grandma raised Duncan, because he was human-raised until his mother died in a battle that happened sometime during the ancient times, he preferred to stay in the Collin Coven. At age twenty, Duncan decided to be Mr. Collin's advisor for his clan instead of returning with his dad after his dad taught him his final survival skills for two years.

For being a Light species, it's still surprising he chose to stay with the Predatory species because the Lights are known to be the gentlest vampires, whereas the Predatory species are known to be the worst and most dangerous. Come to think of it, maybe that's why Kai once claimed that the Vampire Covenant is waiting for any slip-ups that would cause him to be detained since the Lights run the Vampire Covenant, and Kai is known to be unruly about authority.

I mused on all of that until Kai clutched my hand right on his lap as he insisted, "Let's hear the bad news."

"First, allow me to say it is a pleasure to finally meet you, Victoria," Edgar warmly smiled at me.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well. I saw you in my time gap. Kai showed me what happened in the past. I even saw the battle when you lost your home planet," I shared, frowning at the thought of it.

"We all shared many good times and bad times," Edgar replied with a small smile.

Morbius Mill was once his friend until he disregarded their friendship because of the hatred he had for Headmaster Vincent O'Donnell. Nothing got any better when Kai's parents were fated to be destined mates. The whole feud broke off Mr. Collin's engagement to marry Morbius's daughter, Emily. Instead of the Mill and the Collin Covens uniting by marriage, the O'Donnell Coven united with the Collin Coven. Of course, there was more to the tale of the rivalries between the Mill, the Collin, and the O'Donnell Covens.

"Speaking of bad, what news do you bring us?" Kai changed the topic back to the reason why Edgar and his advisors came here tonight, and I could detect that sternness in his tone.

"I'm sorry to say this, but your case against the Wing vampiress didn't provide us enough evidence to prove she had you under her siren," Edgar informed us, and Kai huffed in annoyance.

Sitting next to Kai, I heard Mr. Collin speak, "How is that so? The evidence was right there on the security cameras I had sent over to the Vampire Covenant."

Next to her husband, Mrs. Collin mentioned. "The footage showed the Wing vampiress had Victoria stepping off the stairs."

Edgar sighed. "The Vampire Covenant dismissed it because of Victoria's time-gap."

"How can they say it was my time-gap when my physical body never walks around? Only my mind mentally travels." I questioned since my time-gap didn't work in that way.

Edgar faintly smiled. "I'm afraid it wasn't just your time-gap, but it has more to do with the issue that you can see spirits, so this is why my fellow Lights deemed that there wasn't enough proof it was a Wing vampiress."

"Why am I not surprised to hear this one?" Kai rumbled a low growl in his vocals.

"It's fine, Kai. We'll deal with it," I calmed him by squeezing his hand.

"I'm good. I'll figure out who the vampiress is, and then I'll deal with her myself since the Vampire Covenant is a waste." Kai softly smiled at me, and then he kissed my temple before his eyes darkly glared at Edgar. Even though he was an ally, Kai scowled at him like he was an enemy, as of now.

"As Lights, we voted with the most earnest and lawful decrees," Edgar replied sincerely from his heart. "If you can provide me better proof, then I can make sure she is detained."

"Once I figure out who she is, I'll gladly throw you her detained body," Kai asserted, having confidence.

"I do not doubt that you won't," Edgar chuckled because he already knew what Kai was capable of doing.

If anyone is going to find this vampiress, you better believe it will be my husband.

"Detain her after the Blue Moon," Mr. Collin warned him. "If you detain a female from another Coven, then it will give her Coven the right to attack us. Unless you get a confession out of her, then don't touch her."

"I'm aware," Kai mumbled as he recalled the rules of the Vampire Oath. One wrong move, then he gives that Coven the right to legally kill me without me getting my votes.

"Since that is out of the way, I must ask that the females leave. The rest of the information I have will bore you both," Edgar politely hinted for me and Mrs. Collin to go.

"Of course." Mrs. Collin obliged. "Victoria needs to eat dinner."

"I'll see you shortly," Kai whispered before he kissed my lips.

Afterward, I followed Mrs. Collin out of the office. Though, I had to wonder. What more did Edgar have to say that he didn't want us to hear?
