Before I could come to full terms with this new information, in a snap, Ace appeared in front of me.
"Was it only a female and not a male?" he questioned me rather intensely.
"Yes."
"Good. Wing vampires are far worse. Their charming songs make it harder to snap awake." Rose remarked, and Ace narrowed his gaze at her, standing next to him.
"What do you mean by "their charming songs?" Ace intensely eyed her because his jealousy got triggered.
"Would you stop it!" Rose hissed her fangs. "I'm your destined mate! You know our eyes and senses are only attracted to each other!"
"Must you word it like that!" Ace growled.
Rose snarled, "Who cares about my wording when this isn't about us! This is about our queen! Kai left her under our care, so you best get your butt out there and do your job as his advisor and find that vampiress!"
"Fine! I'm going to check around, and see if I can find that irresistible wing vampiress!" Ace snorted before he vanished.
No doubt, I could tell he said those words to make Rose envious, which became an epic failure on his part, but he wasn't around to realize that. I guess even when mates are fully connected, the males can still get jealous.
Rose held her forehead, shaking it back and forth as I overheard her mumble. "I swear, vampires are such babies."
I know she muffled that more to herself, but I still heard her. On any other day, I would find this to be hilarious, but I was too shaken up to laugh.
Once she lowered her hand from her head, I inquired when she peered at me in the chair, "How did I get snared by a wing vampiress?"
"Wing vampire species can snare their prey from a far distance. After her song enters your head, she now has you under her siren," Rose elucidated.
"Those old vampire books always claim the wing species were gentle like the Lights," I sarcastically commented.
"Remember, wing vampires are also notorious for their turpitude lures," Rose reminded me.
"How could I forget?" I rolled my eyes. "How can I stop her?"
"Don't listen to the song. Fight it. No matter how hard it is, you have to fight, otherwise you're dead," Rose advised.
"I can't handle this." I briefly rubbed my temples. "I thought no one could touch me until after the vote."
"No one can, which is why she is breaching the rules of the Vampire Covenant. If we can provide them proof, she and everyone else working with her will be detained. We need to tell Mr. Collin, so he can send a letter to the Vampire Covenant. The proof will be on the security footage," Rose declared, and I liked the sound of that one.
As we started to walk down the imperial staircase, I suddenly remembered Stella. "Wait, I promised this new girl at the college that I'd meet her at the Plaza Mall. I need to get my phone and cancel my plans," I affirmed, but before I could turn back, Rose strolled ahead of me and went back onto the second floor.
"We'll grab your stuff. After I get the baby ready, Mia and I will go with you to meet your friend," she declared.
"Isn't it too dangerous?" I doubtfully raised my brow.
"Nonsense, just because vampires and vampiresses are trying to kill you doesn't mean you should stop living your life," Rose insisted otherwise, like this was not a big deal.
Meanwhile, I felt differently, seeing how I was the one everyone was trying to kill.
As we were walking along the corridor, Mia popped in like a windy breeze. "I informed Mr. Collin of what happened. He's collecting the evidence for the Vampire Covenant. He said we can go enjoy the mall, and I already have the car heating up," she announced, walking alongside from my left.
"Wow, you did all that in under five minutes," I remarked, feeling fairly impressed.
Mia giggled at my amused reaction. "You'll love being a vampiress one day. It's far better than being a human. After
Ivan turned me, I never felt so alive in my life."
I giggled, but I still worry about being a vampiress. Lately, I questioned if I'd make it that far with these flagitious vampires, who are set on their dastardly deed to kill me.

After we arrived at the Plaza Mall, I searched everywhere for Stella in the food court, but she was nowhere to be found.
I stated, "I can't find her."
"Let's go buy some food while we wait for her," Mia proposed.
Before we walked away, Rose declared. "You go do that, and I'll get us a table."
With some time and effort, Mia retrained her taste buds to eat human food again, which isn't a surprise because she was once human before Ivan, her destined mate, turned her into a vampiress in the Ancient times. Just like Glenn, Ivan also raised Mia, which made their connection as mates much stronger.
Rose, however, was born a vampiress from her vamp parents. Aside from when she was pregnant, that was the only time I saw her crave human food because the unborn vamp baby had curious taste buds. Other than those times, she hasn't once touched it after having the baby.
While Mia and I got in line, Rose strolled the baby stroller along to find us a table. By the time we got our food, I finally heard a text ping off on my phone. After I sat down at the edge of the square table from Rose while Mia sat next to my right, I took out my phone.
Stella texted me, "Victoria, I'm sorry to cancel our plans, but something important came up."
I frowned as I gave her a short reply. "Stella isn't coming. I wonder what happened."
"Perhaps she has something going on with her family," Mia concluded before she bit into her cheeseburger. "Mmm, this is good, but Rome's cooking tops everything."
I giggled at her statement. For a vampire, Rome's cooking was to die for, which can be hard to fathom, but being a chef is his hobby.
"She doesn't have any family around here," I replied, and then I started to eat my chicken bowl. It was filled with chicken, corn, and buttery mashed potatoes, which tasted good.
"You can always ask her tomorrow at the college," Rose pointed out as she was checking on the baby in the bassinet stroller. He tuckered out on us sometime after we arrived.
"If she is there, but I wasn't planning on going Friday since Kai will be home," I confirmed.
"But it would give you something to do on Friday instead of sitting around waiting on him," Mia suggestively hinted, and I couldn't disagree.
"I might go, but I'll see. Anyhow, what should we do after we're done eating?" I asked them.
"Shopping, of course!" Mia cheerfully chimed.
Rose nonchalantly added. "We might as well since we're here."
"Shopping sounds fun."
