Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Throughout the rest of the morning, Ezra was in a daze. Arthur is in his class and his seatmate. How is that even possible? Not that he is complaining about it.

He's quite happy about this.

They both sat in the cafeteria for lunch. Normally, Ezra would pull out his lunch box and eat what he had prepared. But since he didn't return to his home yesterday, he would have to settle for the cafeteria food.

Arthur looks at the unappetizing school lunch in disapproval and a bit of disgust.

"What's wrong?" Ezra asked, worrying that the food wasn't to Arthur's taste.

"Do you eat this every day?" Arthur asked, using his fork to poke at the canned fruit that was out on the tray.

Ezra eats the food not feeling disgusted. "No," he replies. "I prepare lunch for the week... Today's school lunch is not bad" he said, smiling gently at Arthur. At least they are trying to provide them with the various necessities needed by growing children.

Arthur refused to eat this and he wasn't going to allow Ezra to punish himself anymore.

He takes out his phone, "I'm calling someone to bring us something, is there anything you would like?"

Ezra blinks in surprise with a confused smile. "We only have fifteen minutes left for lunch," he said, his voice shaking as he tried not to laugh.

"But I can't let you eat something that looks this disgusting," Arthur said standing firm.

Ezra raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "Okay, do whatever you want, " he lets out knowing that he can't convince Arthur to eat the cafeteria's lunch.

Unfortunately, the lunch Arthur was about to order couldn't make it to the school in time because the bell rang.

Arthur's focus was sharp after the bell rang for class. But Ezra felt sorry for him. Why? He hadn't eaten lunch yet and to him, Arthur was pretending to be strong.

Arthur, who is pretending to be strong, has his mind somewhere else.

'How could he put Ezra in such an awful school?' he thought in an outrage.

It is by some miracle that Ezra was not being bullied. He's fragile and small, and quite easy to pick on, like when they were in elementary school.

What if he was getting picked on before and they just didn't want to today because he's been around Ezra?

Arthur was being over dramatic.

After school was over, Ezra picked up his bag and began walking out of class with Arthur right behind him.

"Where are you going?" Arthur inquired as they both dodged past the students at a fast pace.

Ezra continues to expertly dodge everyone. "I have a club meeting in a few minutes."

They got to the school's courtyard and there was only Ms. Winefry standing there.

"Oh, Ezra, you're here early, " she said, sounding overly cheerful.

"Hey, Ms. Winefry," Ezra greets her politely, yet casually.

"Oh, and you must be the real son of the Dumas family," she said pointing at Arthur and began to giggle. "I must say, you are a lot more handsome than I thought," she said purring at him flirtatiously.

"Ms. Winefry!" Ezra exclaimed, standing in front of Arthur being protective.

Winefry then laughs. "I'm just joking, I don't plan on stealing your boyfriend," she said. This statement made Ezra's face flushed in embarrassment.

"You are a very strange woman," Arthur said bluntly.

Ms. Winefry laughed wholeheartedly. "I know."

She then pulls Ezra away. "Why is he here? I thought he was the real son of the Dumas family. Shouldn't he be in a much better school?"

Ezra shrugs, indicating he didn't know. "But we were childhood friends, so it should be fine."

Ms. Winefry gives him a disbelieving look. Her face said. "Are you being serious right now?"

Arthur watched as Ms. Winefry took Ezra about ten feet away from him and began whispering in his ear. If not because she was a beta and a lot older than Ezra, he would have gotten jealous of how close they were being right now.

He looks at the setup around him. He never expected Ezra to join an archery club. He thought Ezra might have joined something a lot more friendly like a book club or something.

It's great that he is learning how to use a bow and arrow. This can be equivalent to using a pistol.

Maybe he should get him a gun for his birthday. No, he's way too young for that. Wait until he's eighteen.

"Um," Arthur heard a soft voice, and his warm gentle aura became cold.

"What?" he asked impatiently looking at the person who interrupted his happy time.

It was a brunette omega girl, who was fragile-looking. The girl immediately became frightened by Arthur's change of aura and began to stammer in fear.

"If you have nothing to say then get lost and stop wasting my time," he said harshly.

The girl began to tear up and Ezra had just happened to see the girl crying after talking to Ms. Winefry.

He walks towards them. "Is there something wrong?" he asked gently.

The girl looked at him pitifully, her eyes were a bit teary, and her cheeks and nose were a bit rosy making her look even more beautiful. He could smell her scent which was lavender.

He was a bit mesmerized by her beauty and Arthur noticed this and felt jealous immediately.

"Since you have nothing to say, you may leave," he said coldly, This frightened the girl who squeaked and ran away.

"What did you do that for?" Ezra said, sounding upset.

Arthur blinks innocently. "What did I do?"

Ms. Winefry laughed a bit and said, "I like him."

If Ezra hadn't known better, he would have assumed that Arthur was jealous of the girl, but that would be impossible.

After all, they are just friends who just reunited after eight years.
