Two hours earlier...
Arthur was all dressed up. He looked like a cold prince at the party. Mr. Dumas was introducing him to other family members and business partners. The scent of so many Alphas in one room upset him a lot.
Children of the guests tried buttering up to him, but he was barely interested in them. They bored him instead with their shameless behavior.
"Nice party, huh?" Candice said she was wearing a peach dress and holding a glass of champagne.
"Not really," Arthur replied. "You drink?" he asked, glancing at the drink in her hand.
"Yeah," Candice replies. "Do you want some?"
Arthur raised an eyebrow at the drink. "No," he replies. It's too bitter for his taste.
"What of Ezra?" Candice asked, looking around the party. "I thought he was around.
"He's not allowed to come," Arthur replies coldly.
"Oh," Candice said quietly. Mrs. Dumas was the only Omega present here, as she is the mother of Arthur.
Candice was a bit jealous that this welcome party was organized for Arthur. Where was this party when she first arrived?
It's unfair, but what place does she, an illegitimate child, have here? Mr. and Mrs. Dumas walked toward them, this was her cue to leave. "See you later," she says, leaving.
Mrs. Dumas smiled fondly at Arthur, while Mr. Dumas looked at him with pride. Mrs. Dumas didn't say anything yet, as she was in the presence of her husband. Behind them was a middle-aged Alpha couple with their daughter behind them.
She is Candice's age, and she carries herself with elegance. She has blonde hair with grey eyes. She wore a red dress stopping in the middle of her thigh as well as a pair of silver heels.
She was beautiful, however, Arthur turned a blind eye to this, as he was not interested in her. "I want you to meet someone," Mr. Dumas said, indicating to the couple behind him.
Arthur looked bored with Mr. Dumas's attempts to get him to enjoy the party and socialize. He was speaking, but he wasn't listening.
Once he was done, Arthur just said, "Excuse me," and left them.
The couple were surprised by Arthur's nonchalant behavior. "Well, that's rude," the woman, Mrs. Rive, said, sounding shocked.
"He still isn't used to being here," Mrs. Dumas said, looking for an excuse for her son. She was ignored, but she didn't feel embarrassed, she just carried herself with grace while comforting herself.
"He probably was just being shy in the presence of your daughter," Me. Dumas said, trying to calm the couple.
Evelyn wasn't blind to the fact that Arthur wasn't interested in her. She wasn't interested in Arthur either, she would rather find an Omega to mate with.
"Evelyn, dear, why don't you go and speak to Arthur?" Mrs. Rive said, nudging her daughter.
"Of course," Evelyn said obediently, leaving.
"Such an obedient child," Mr. Dumas said, smiling.
Evelyn found Arthur walking in the hallway. 'Why am I doing this?' she thought.
"Arthur," she calls him.
Arthur turns around and looks at her coldly. "What?" he asks. It sounded rude, but he didn't care.
Evelyn didn't care either. "I am not interested in you," she said.
"I know," Arthur said, then continued walking away.
'So stuck up.' Evelyn thought in disdain.
Arthur was on his way to Ezra's room when he came across one of his cousins and his friends.
He squints his eyes suspiciously at them. They were quiet until he passed them. "Didn't you say there was an unmarked Omega?" he heard one of them say.
"Well I don't know where he is?"
He turns around immediately. "Hey," he said in an authoritative voice, making them stop immediately.
He walks to them and slowly lets out his scent. He had a scary smile on his face. "What are you talking about?" he asked.
They were his age so it was easy for him.
His cousin, Will, stammered, unable to reply.
Arthur sneered as he got close to them. The Alphas' knees buckled before he got too close. His pheromones slowly suppressed them.
"What did you say?" he repeats.
None of the Alphas replied. They sweated in fear.
Arthur became increasingly annoyed by their pathetic behavioral. He knew what he heard. They were talking about Ezra and he knows they wanted something from him.
Normally, he would beat the living day lights out of them, but that would bring a lot of trouble not only to him but to Ezra as well.
He holds Will's shoulder squeezing it very hard. "Either of you touch Ezra, and I will end you and your families," he said this lightly, bug his pheromones was heavy on them. "Is that clear?" he asked.
Will nods and his friends leave immediately.
His was angered, as he walked to Ezra's room. They were looking for Ezra because he was an unmarked Omega. 'I should just mark him then,' he thought angrily. Right now the only thing on his mind was to mark Ezra just so he could get rid of all the pests.
He got to the door and knocked. "W-Who's there?" He heard Ezra's nervous voice at the other end of the door.
"It's me," he replies after a while of being quiet.
