Chapter 1 - The Law University

-Mason Verlice:-

I have always wondered,

What's the hardest thing in life?

Is it being happy in a closed-minded society that keep burying all your dreams and hopes?

Is it love? Since people always say it's hard in romance novels and movies.

Is it being a teenager and living with all the hormonal changes and the stress of school and exams and the worry about your future life?

Is it finding a good job that fits your liking but also pay you enough?

Or is it getting married and building a family and most importantly keeping that family together?

My father always tells me that the hardest thing in life is being a lawyer.

My father… Is THE Hudson Verlice.

He is a well-known lawyer in the entire country.

I believed him because in my twenty five years of life I have noticed how hard he worked and how much time he put into every and each client's case.

Being a Lawyer became the hardest thing in life in my opinion, I like challenges, anything adventurous, anything that people find hard or impossible, something that not all people can do, something that most people try to avoid because it's scary or tough, I like it.

This is why I decided to become a lawyer just like my role model aka my dad.

Oh, by the way, hello, I'm Mason Verlice.

I'm in my senior year in the law university.

I was supposed to graduate more than two years ago but Problems happened in my family, and as much as I hate to admit, it did effect my mental heath.

When I was eighteen years old, I graduated from high school, I got the first place.

My family's heads almost punctured the Atmosphere spheric due to how proud they were of me.

I couldn't be more grateful for that.

I was happy to see my family happy.

To say I was excited to start going to the law university would be understatement because I literally wished summer didn't exist so I can go straight to the university of my dreams.

But all that shattered when I received the news of my parents' divorce.

I could not believe that news at first, because if you can ask anybody that knows my parents they would say that Hudson and Maria are the living versions of Romeo and Juliet.

They were high school sweethearts and got married right after graduation.

They have been together for almost twenty five years which is why hearing that news was shocking to everybody around us.

I have no siblings.

Despite being the only child, I have never felt alone or the need to have siblings because I had all the love, care and time from my parents.

I appreciate them a lot.

I could not take their divorce.

What made it even worse is that they refused to tell me the real reason behind their divorce.

Right after receiving that news, my parents quickly signed the divorce papers and each one of them moved to a different house after they sold the house that they used to share… Yep, the exact same house where I grew up and made many memories.

That year I refused to go to any university or school, I just stayed home with my dad and spent most of time in the gym or playing video games.

The following year, I thought I was ready to join university, but again another news that destroyed my last hope of my parents going back to each other was delivered to me.

My mother sent an invitation to her wedding.

I had a mental break down when I saw the card.

I ripped it apart and refused to go to the wedding, I could not see my mother replacing my dad with another man.

I know I was selfish and a terrible son for not considering my mother's happiness, but I just could not do it no matter how much I tried to force myself to go… I just failed, I could not.

My dad did. He went to the wedding.

Until today which means five years later, I still have no idea to whom my mother got married.

I have a strong relationship with my dad.

My mother on the other hand, comes to our house every now and then and spends a lot of time with me under the condition of her not mentioning anything about her spouse and their kids.

She agreed which I appreciated.

I slowly got used to my parents being separated and decided to finally join the law university when I was almost twenty one years old which means I wasted three years of my life after graduating high school, but you know what, my dad always supported me in every step, he patiently waited for me until I was ready to start studying again.

My family, my dad's side and my mom's side, the least thing I can say about them is rich.

My father is well known rich lawyer as I said before.

My mother is civil engineer.

My grandfather, mom's father is retired judge.

My uncle, dad's brother is a Director General of the Police.

My Aunt, dad's sister is a surgeon.

My late grandfather was wealthy investor that owned and invested in many companies, restaurants and properties, etc…

All his money was inherited equally by my dad and his siblings.

Lastly my mother's only brother works in Social Security Headquarters.

Pretty successful yet pretty legal.

I had no idea that fate would want to play with my life again but this time it will flip it upside down.

I would not even be able to know if I was going forward or backwards.

I had literally no clue that fate would be planning such a thing for me.

Who would have guessed that the perfect "spoiled son" of the famous lawyer and the civil engineer would fall in love with a MAN… And not any man.

A blind man to be more specific.

A blind mysterious man that has plenty of dangerous secrets hidden behind him.

Secrets that could make two lovers who are deeply in love enemies.

The Segas' secrets.

Nobody would have guessed this, especially me.
