Do you know what my mother always told me? "When you lie, make it direct. That way, it will be more convincing. If you're direct, how can they tell the truth from the lies?" That was what she said to me, no matter if it's a demon or you're making a deal with a human. And so I did just that. I would always lie my way out of things.
And then I got summoned. I've never thought I would get summoned by a human. It was nothing like I had ever imagined. These humans or this human were not like the books or stereotypes we had in hell. He was very bland, one glance and you could see it in his expressions: no fear, no joy, no nothing.
It was like staring into someone who had lost everything. Nothing but an empty husk of a boy—nothing, no everything. I looked into his soul, and it was flaring up—a bright golden hue of yellow, that shines.
He had asked me to give him the impossible. A weak, frail demon like me can't give what this human wanted, that soul is doing something to him. Maybe someone is controlling that soul, or the soul has a different personality.
No being has ever had a soul like that before; to my knowledge. But I do know one thing; it's that the soul cannot be read, the only one who can read it is God. Or maybe someone else can.
I had made a soul contract with him, and now both of our souls are bound. I just hope he doesn't cut the chains loose. I can't die now. He's the best chance I have to kill him.
...
I thought this kid would be able to do something, but he can't. I've been training him for more than three months now, and he has made little to no progress. I think I might've made a bad choice in having a soul contract with him.
In these three months, he has been training non-stop, but he couldn't progress at all. Every mistake he's made, he keeps repeating them. At this point, we should just give up and leave for the roads already. No progress means there's no point in training him anymore; maybe he'll learn from the experiences of his near-death encounter he's going to have soon.
That reminds me I haven't gotten outside for three months, so where even am I? I should've asked him where we are right now.
"Hey human, where are we right now?"
"uhhh my house."
"Yes, I know that, but what part of the country?"
"oh, yeah we're in california."
"What city?"
"uh, san jose."
"Got it, so after this, let's hit the road. We need to go to Nevada."
"but i thought i have more training to do."
"You're not making progress anyway; it doesn't matter."
"huh?"
