Chapter 4 - The Fall of a Kingpin

Big Jim was sitting in a hotel with a couple of bitches when a call came in. It was one of his men, who called to tell him that Kaz and Tommy were arrested a few minutes ago.

Big Jim was furious. He was angry at himself because he felt like it was his fault for sending them to Rashad when Kaz was just starting his journey as a gangster. Now, both Kaz and Tommy were in jail, and he needed to get them out.

He quickly got in his car and drove to the police station. At the station Big Jim walked in, his face was red with anger. He went up to the desk and demanded to see the officer in charge.

"The chief is busy right now," the desk officer said. "Can I help you?"

"I want to see my boys," Big Jim said. "They've been arrested."

The desk officer looked at a list in front of him. "Kaz and Tommy?" he asked. "Yes, they're being held in cell block B."

Big Jim nodded and headed for the cell block. He found Kaz and Tommy sitting on a bench, looking dejected.

"What the hell happened?" Big Jim asked.

"We were just doing a job," Kaz said. "We didn't do anything wrong."

"Who arrested you?" Big Jim asked.

"Detective Johnson," Tommy said.

Big Jim knew Detective Johnson. He was a dirty cop who was always looking for ways to shake down the criminals.

"I'm going to see the chief," Big Jim said. "I'll get you out of here."

Big Jim went to the chief's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in," the chief said.

Big Jim opened the door and went in.

"Chief, I want to know why my boys were arrested," Big Jim said.

The chief sighed. "They were caught for trespassing and disturbance of the neighborhood in a clear area of crime," he said.

"That's bullshit!" Big Jim said. "They didn't do anything."

"They were caught right at a crime spot and you call that nothing," the chief said. "I'm afraid I can't do anything for you."

Big Jim was furious. He knew that the chief was lying, but there was nothing he could do about it.

"Fine," Big Jim said. "I'll see you in court."

Big Jim left the chief's office and went back to the cell block. He told Kaz and Tommy what had happened.

"Don't worry," Big Jim said. "I'll get you out of here."

Big Jim went back to his car and drove away. He was determined to get Kaz and Tommy out of jail, no matter what it took.

As he was driving, he saw a police car pull up behind him. The police car pulled him over and from it came Detective Johnson.

"Hands up Nigga!" One of the juniors yelled with his gun pointed at Big Jim.

"Do you know why I pulled you over?" Detective Johnson asked.

"No," Big Jim responded with his hands up facing the Detective who was walking slowly in his direction.

"I ordered my officers to go after you because when you came close to me you smelt all cracked up and weed... shit from your head to toes."

Big Jim knew that he was screwed. He was searched and the officers found in his back pocket a pack of loaded weed.

Big Jim was arrested and chained up with the corps bangles around his wrist and placed at the back of the police van.

Detective Johnson walked up to Big Jim, who was sitting in the back of the police car.

Some of the corps were taking pictures of the weeds for evidence.

"It's over for you, Big Jim," Detective Johnson said. "You're going to jail."

Big Jim glared at him. "You can't do this to me," he said. "I will make sure you pay for this. I know all your dirty traits, so-called corp." Big Jim spat at Detective Johnson's face.

"I don't care who you are," Detective Johnson said. "You're under arrest for possession of a controlled substance."

"This is bullshit! I'm going to get you for this."

"Go ahead," Detective Johnson said. "But it won't change anything. You're going to jail."

"Officers take him!" Detective Johnson instructed his officers to take Big Jim to the station.

Big Jim took a deep breath and tried to calm down.

"I'm warning you Johnson," Big Jim said. "I'll go to jail. But you'll regret this. I'm going to make sure of it."

"I doubt that," Detective Johnson spoke from the driver's seat of the police van Big Jim was bundled in. "But we'll see."

The police van pulled up to the front of the Baton Rouge Police Department, 9000 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Detective Johnson got out of the van and walked up to the driver's side door.

"Okay, let's get him out of here," he said to the officers.

The officers opened the door of the van and pulled Big Jim out. Big Jim was handcuffed and wearing a bright orange jumpsuit. He looked around in humiliation, his eyes darting from one officer to the other.

"You're going to regret this, Johnson," he said.

"I doubt that, Come here boy!!." Detective Johnson said walking right before Big Jim who was being pushed by the other officers.

The officers led Big Jim into the police station. They took him to a holding cell and locked him up.

Detective Johnson went to his office and started to write up his report. He had a lot of paperwork to do, but he was glad that Big Jim was finally behind bars.

Big Jim sat in the holding cell, stewing in his anger. He couldn't believe that he had been arrested. He knows how big he was, with friends in high places.

But as the hours passed, Big Jim started to realise that he might not be so lucky to get out of jail so easily because all the tough dogs in Louisiana knew Detective Johnson as a hard-nosed cop, who wasn't going to back down from any case so easily.

Big Jim was starting to regret why he was holding drugs at that time, even though he knew how drugs was his addiction. But it was too late now. He was going to have to pay the price.

The next morning, Big Jim was taken to court. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and intent to distribute. He was also charged with resisting arrest.

Big Jim's lawyer tried to get the charges dropped, but the judge refused. Big Jim was found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison and was placed on bail of $1 million U.S dollars.
