As Harper started to make her way towards her, Scarlet felt another wave of emotions hit her. Harper had defended her even when they were not close, she came for her knowing she might be in trouble and her best friend Melanie…Melanie couldn't even look her in the eye. This was the moment she needed someone who has always been by her side but instead, someone she barely knew had showed up for her.
"Are you okay?" Harper asked when she got to her, concern etched on her forehead.
Scarlet quickly blinked and gave a nod. "Thank you," she thanked her, her voice barely stable, "for standing up for me."
"Oh that…that was uhm…you don't have to thank me for that," Harper said.
"Why did you do it?" Scarlet asked, wanting to know her reason behind it and she saw her hesitate and then she moved her eyes around and turned her head back, checking to see if anyone was nearby.
Moving closer to her, Harper said in a low voice, "Actually…I lied."
