Paige still sat on the ground, processing everything Scarlet told her and she slowly raised her head to look at her. She stared at her and Scarlet stared back. They both knew the truth now.
"Mom," Scarlet called and Paige moved her brows. "Thank you," she said.
"For what?" Paige asked.
"Believing in me," Scarlet answered and blinked her eyes. "You are the best, mom," she said in a rather low breaking voice.
Paige didn't know when she broke into a smile and she could almost not believe everything that was happening.
"Anything for you," she said.
Scarlet mustered up a smile and stood up before lifting her mother also to her feet. They embraced each other and Paige sighed. This was what acceptance feels like, she thought.
