Mrs. Wells words must have held some kind of force of will in it because Scarlet suddenly felt submissive…and weak. All her sense of rage was gone and she now looked at the people in the room strangely. She regretted her earlier actions.
"I'm sorry," she found herself apologizing to the man and then to the teacher who looks even more surprised at the sudden change.
"If you are really sorry, bring your father too and make him apologize," Mr. Griles went ahead to say, "He needs to see by himself, what his daughter did to my son so he can know how serious the matter is."
At the mention of her father this time, Scarlet felt her eyes begin to tear up and she held a pained expression while fighting back the tears.
