Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Originally Just Wanted to See Once

Chapter 10

Upon hearing this, the assistant hurriedly explained, "Miss Collins, we weren't eavesdropping. We just got out of the elevator and happened to hear it. Besides, our Young Master has never been interested in other people's affairs. Please don't misunderstand us."

Chloe Collins raised her eyebrows and nodded, "Hmm, let's just assume that's the case then."

"What do you mean 'let's assume'? Miss Collins, I'm telling the truth. We really didn't eavesdrop." The assistant's tone became increasingly anxious.

"Enough." The cold male voice interrupted the assistant's words. His calm gaze moved away from Chloe Collins' face, and he stepped aside.

Chloe Collins spoke at a leisurely pace, "Why do you want that perfume so badly?"

Her sudden question stopped the man in his tracks, but he only paused for a second or two before continuing to walk, not answering her question.

Chloe clicked her tongue, "This temper really hasn't changed at all."

The man did not stop walking, probably not hearing her whisper.

In a short while, Chloe Collins walked back, bumping into Heijii, who was carrying a whole bag of food.

He strolled out leisurely, apparently having been there for quite some time.

Glancing at the direction where Alexander Foster and his assistant had left, he laughed, "Boss, if that assistant knew you could hear everything, he wouldn't dare lie to you."

Ever since she was little, her physical constitution was far superior to ordinary people. Her hearing was dozens of times better than that of an average person, allowing her to hear everything clearly.

Chloe continued to walk unhurriedly, "Watch your mouth and don't talk about what shouldn't be said."

"I know, boss. I only dared to say it because there's no one else around."

Chloe gave him a sidelong glance, not continuing the conversation.

Her body indeed possessed many "extraordinary abilities." Her six senses were far superior to average people, as was her learning ability. She could master things that took others years to learn in only a day or two. According to her mother, this was the effect of the medicine.

She didn't want others to know about these abilities. Apart from a few close people, she hadn't told anyone else.

Because her hearing was so strong, she usually needed to wear a hearing aid to make the world less "noisy" for her.

But today, she didn't wear it.

She could hear every sound clearly, including what Tristan Collins said to that mother and daughter when he entered the banquet hall.

Thinking of those words, she sneered coldly, full of irony in her eyes.

In Chloe Collins' life, there was an unsolved mystery—Tristan Collins.

This man was her biological father, but for nineteen years, he had never fulfilled a shred of paternal responsibility toward her.

At the age of eight, she suspected that she wasn't his real child, thinking that his coldness was because of that. She secretly took a paternity test, only to be terribly disappointed.

Her cell phone rang, pulling her back to reality.

She picked it up and answered.

A respectful voice came from the other end, "Hello, I am calling from the auction company. Mr. White's artwork has been sold for 800 million. According to Mr. White's instructions, all of the funds will be used for charitable donations."

"Mm, I'll let him know. Thank you."

Hearing that she intended to hang up, the person on the other end quickly added, "The buyer is quite influential, it's Mr. Alexander Foster, from the Fosters, the greatest family around. He hopes to meet with Mr. White."

Chloe Collins scoffed lightly, so that's how it was.

Spending 800 million just to meet.

"Not meeting."

"Please listen to me first. Mr. Foster wants to discuss a business deal with Mr. White, with the price set by Mr. White. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Please pass the message on to Mr. White."

"Not interested."

Chloe Collins hung up the phone.

Seeing her finishing the call, Heijii spoke up, "Boss, your dad seems to dislike my hair color. Should I dye it back to black to match you better?"

Chloe snorted lightly, "Green suits you better."

Heijii grumbled, "Boss, how could you be like this!"

On the other side, Alexander Foster was pretending to sleep in the back seat.

After finishing the conversation on the phone, the assistant reported, "Boss, the auction company said that... Mr. White is not willing to meet."

Upon hearing this, Alexander's eyes opened halfway, and his cold expression showed some changes.

In the assistant's eyes, these changes were understood as "interest."

After all, his boss was rarely ever rejected. Suddenly encountering a refusal like this would surely stir up his competitive nature.

"Have them send over Mr. White's assistant's contact information."

"Yes."

Soon, Alexander received a series of numbers, but he did not make the call.

His deep gaze stared at the numbers, falling into deep thought.
