Chapter 14
The other end fell into a brief silence, and Alexander Foster didn't make a sound.
Then, Chloe Collins heard Ford say, "Speaking of which, you're actually this Miss's junior, back when the old madam was still alive. To allow the Buddha's light to bless you, she made you acknowledge Master Songya as your master, becoming the nineteenth-ranked lay disciple. And she ranked eleven, so she called you 'junior' every day. It was quite adorable."
Ford's voice was gentle and laced with laughter.
Chloe Collins thoughts also went back to that time, her lips slightly turning up into an enigmatic smile.
Suddenly, she heard an indifferent voice from Alex, "If she counts as adorable, there wouldn't be any adorable women in this world."
Chloe Collins let out a subtle snort, a cold and disdainful smile on her face.
After taking a bath, she wiped her hair and went out, picking up a bottle of water, opened it, and drank it all down.
She heard Ford's voice again-
"Speaking of that, this Miss is quite pitiable. I don't know why she couldn't win Tristan Collins' affection. He said she was possessed by an aura of misfortune, so she was sent to the temple to cleanse her soul through practice. If it was only for half a year, it would be understandable, but she was sent for more than a decade. This child was born from a prestigious family, but she lived a life of poverty since she was young."
Ford's sigh entered her ears, strangely grating.
Chloe Collins' face lost the relaxed interest she had just moments ago; expressionless, she took out her hearing aid and put it on.
The world instantly quieted down.
Her phone vibrated, and she picked it up to look.
[M: Darling, I'm coming back to Grearon next week!]
Chloe Collins casually replied.
[Chloe: Welcome back.]
[M: (Kiss) Will you take me in?]
[Chloe: There are five houses, you can live in whichever you want, I'm not going back.]
[M: I love you the most! (Kiss)]
Just after she replied to this, Albert Green sent a text-
[Mr. Green: Chlo-Chlo, are you still feeling unwell?]
[Chloe: I'm fine for now.]
[Mr. Green: Don't blame your uncle for nagging, but you should find Alex again to confirm. If his body scent really works, it might be a shortcut to developing a highly effective medicine.]
Chloe Collins helplessly pulled her lips and sent back an OK hand gesture.
[Mr. Green: If necessary, you can kiss him, the effect might double!]
[Chloe: ...Cheeky.]
[Mr. Green: This is what happens in Korean dramas, hahaha]
Chloe Collins put down her phone and didn't look at it again.
After drying her hair, she looked out the window and saw the villa next door.
The second floor was still brightly lit.
Her mother told her to find all of Emma Foster's experimental data, whether electronic or printed, and gather everything.
Having spent five days here, she had almost searched every place Emma Foster had lived before her death. Only this two-story villa remained.
Supposedly, this villa had been used by Emma Foster for a while, but it was unknown what it was used for.
She needed to check it out tonight.
Thinking like this, she locked her gaze onto the white Samoyed in the courtyard, which belonged to Alexander Foster.
This adorably silly creature was now playing with a ball in its mouth.
Chloe Collins gently twisted the ring on her index finger, and a silver thread as slender as a hair accurately shot out from the ring, piercing into the ball's interior with a ting.
The Samoyed's eyes widened, and it raised its head to look at her with a puzzled expression.
She smiled at it, motioning with her finger, and the ball was thrown into a window in the neighboring building.
"Woof!"
The Samoyed barked excitedly and ran towards the next-door villa.
Chloe Collins leisurely put on a casual jacket and walked downstairs towards the neighboring villa.
